Benefit Holiday 2009: Followup Questions

October 8th, 2009 by Karen 24 Comments

Benefit Full Finish Lipsticks from left to right: No Competition and Lady’s Choice

I pulled a Cinderella last night — but not the cool glass slipper/pumpkin part. It was the part with all of the cleaning, the singing animals (in this case, Tabs) and the late-night floor mopping.

Pretty soon the new place will be clean enough, and I’ll be able to get back to commenting on a regular basis. One of the highlights of my days is commenting, and I’ve been going through withdrawals lately. I’ve still been reading them all, even though I may not have been able to respond.

Speaking of comments, I saw some great questions in response to this week’s Benefit Holiday 2009 post.

Here’s a quick followup:

1. What’s that second lipstick in the Celebutante set?

benefit celebutante 3-1

Eagle-eyed DJ and Jess caught that there are two Full-Finished Lipsticks in the Celebutante Set. Good eye, gals!

Lady’s Choice (a creamy pink) joins No Competition (a deep plum) in the set.

No Competition is a color I like to wear with eyeshadows in gold and brown.

2. How big are the blush pans in the Powderazzi palette?

benefit holiday 2009 powderazzi and regular sized blushes

Readers Nicole and Sdpfeiffy asked how the blush pans in the Powderazzi set compare to Benefit’s full-sized box blushes.

Well, the Powderazzi blushes are about a quarter the size of the regular box blushes (a .10-oz pan versus a .42-oz pan), so they’re substantially smaller.

But consider this: choice. 🙂 I’d choose an option with three blushes over an option with one any old day.

Powderazzi also comes in a slim, portable box that’s kind to makeup bags (e.g. it’s small), taking up less space than most bulky, full-size box blushes.

And, seriously, can you remember the last time you finished an entire full-size pan of blush? I can’t. These smaller blushes seem pretty practical to me.

3. Will the sets be available at Sephora?

Hi, Marina! The answer’s “mostly, yes.”

It looks like all three Crescent Row fragrance sets, Celebutate and Glitz Glam & Gloss are available now on Sephora.com and Benefit.com, and we can also expect to see ’em carried in Sephora stores soon.

The only set we *won’t* be able to snag at Sephora is Powderazzi — an Ulta exclusive — so it’s off to Ulta and Ulta.com for that. I saw that it isn’t up on the Ulta website yet, but I’ll keep checking and will let you know when I see it (let me know if/when you see it, too).

Another thing: If you want to save a few bucks (and who doesn’t?) and can wait … Sephora’s online Friends and Family sale runs from October 19 through November 2 (use code FF2009 for 20% off). 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. We’re almost 1/3 of the way through October and well on our way to our goal for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Could you make a small donation today? If you use this widget, I’ll match you dollar-dollar up to $250 total, so $5 right here and now works out to $10! 🙂

First off, thanks for the answer to my question 🙂 I am actually thrilled to hear that the pans are about 1/4 full size. I was worried that the entire case would be somewhat ungainly 😛 I just received my Mac 165 which I think might be perfect for these pans! Thanks much 🙂

The Celebutante set looks like the better buy (to me)…BeneFit packaged some go-to products in there, like High Beam & Benetint!

      Hi Amy,

It’s very pretty by itself and layered beneath coordinating glosses. I kinda like it with cool pink, shimmery shades.

      Hi Glosslizard,

I think it would look very striking on you. If you wanted to go really artsy fartsy it might be awesome paired with a super dark smokey eye!

LOL, I think I’ve been wearing too much Style Black. 🙂

I love the look of the Powderazzi kit – means I can try all the products I haven’t really wanted to pay full price for in case I didn’t like them.

Dandelion is the only blush I’ve ever hit pan on, so I think I can justify this one!

      Hi Beth,

That’s what I like about it too. 🙂

I bet Dandelion looks very natural and pretty on you. Have you tried Throb? I haven’t yet, but I want to!

The Powderazzi palette is gorgeous!!! I’ve been wanting it for ages… BUT we don’t have it in Italy 🙁

Anyway I confess that I finished even more than one blush in my cosmetic life! Annnnnd I hit the pan of my Dallas blush, which was bought by my dad in the US (I gave him the list and the address of the sephora nearest to the hotel… he’s a good dad), and I’m terribly sad that it’s going to finish!
