I’ve spent a sizable chunk of this week dancing at home to Shakira’s new CD, She Wolf (it was released on Monday). I’m in love with the title track… Dang that thing’s catchy!
Would you believe that Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll (born in Colombia on February 2, 1977) has sold almost 2 million albums for every year she’s been alive? Fifty million so far, to go with her two Grammies and seven Latin Grammy Awards.
And she’s finding some pretty cool ways to use her star status by supporting a number of charities and organizations, including the Pies Descalzos Foundation, a Colombian charity that helps fund construction of schools in impoverished areas, and UNICEF, for which she travels as a Goodwill Ambassador.
When it comes to travel, it must help that homegirl speaks fluent Spanish, English, Portuguese and Italian, or that she can sing classical Arabic and belly dance, too. Wow!

This was not an easy decision. I like Shakira’s hairstyle almost all the time, she is reinventing herself. Recently I got kind of bored by her curls so this time I’ve voted with number 1 🙂

Don’t you love the volume she always has? I’m so jealous!
I like that song, but the weird black spandex outfit she wears in the video (and the dance that she does in it) are a bit weird… Or maybe I just don’t get it…
The video doesn’t do much for me, but I love the song! Whenever I hear it I have to dance. 🙂
My favourite is number 4 and 6. The hair colours suit her complexion.

I’m Colombian myself and I think that the correct spelling is Colombia, not Columbia. Not wanting to be rude by correcting you, but it really bothers me 🙁

I heart Shakira. I have been a fan of hers since 1996 or maybe 1998 when she was doing Spanish rock. I actually prefer her music in Spanish but still enjoy her english music.
To me, she looks best in #8.
