Lightening Up with the China Glaze Up and Away Collection

December 5th, 2009 by Karen 28 Comments

china glaze up and away spring 2010 top

The first time I read the name on the bottom of the pastel yellow bottle in China Glaze’s Up and Away Spring 2010 collection, I was TOTALLY SURE it said Lemon Liz — named, I assumed, after Tina Fey’s character on 30 Rock.

I thought, “How cool,” smiling gleefully. 🙂 “They watch 30 Rock!”

And then I looked again: “Lemon Fizz”

Oh, how ’bout that… Lemon Fizz. Yeah, I guess someone needs to get her eyes checked, LOL!

The shiny-happy mix of creamy brights and pastels in China Glaze’s new collection look like the colors from a Deee-Lite video.

So playful and girly! 🙂

Most of the 12 apply smooth with full coverage. The two that didn’t for me (the lighter shades) — Something Sweet and Light as Air — gave me some trubs in the streaking department, but I still like the colors.

Like all China Glaze lacquers, these are free of DBP, toluene and formaldehyde, and they’re expected to grace Sally Beauty Supply stores this spring. As soon as I see them available anywhere online, I’ll let you know.

What do you think? Are these tres Deee Lite or what?

Hi Karen! I wrote about this collection a few day ago on my blog and I was really curious about the swatches 🙂 I have to say my favorite shade is Re-Fresh Mint. Two of my nail polishes by Kinetics Nail Colors have exactly the same color like Flyin’ High and Four-Leaf Clover and when I will do a review on them next week I will link to this post of yours because I find those 2 shades very similar. 🙂

usually I’m into brights, but the pastels are what I want from this collection! Lemon Fizz, Re-Fresh Mint, Light as Air and Something Sweet. I think Lemon Fizz is probably my favorite!

My favourite is Flying High but I love all these colours because they look so yummy! Looks like I would have to buy these online because I have no idea where to get China Glaze in Canadian Northwest coast :(.

Oh my Gosh ! these are All so pretty ! I *Love* Light As Air. It reminds me of Essie’s Body Language [my fav], but purple and not grey . I also love Lemon “liz” andPeachy Keen and all the green/blue shades .
My favorite mint green though will probably always be Essie’s Mint Candy Apple .. It looks so Tiffany’s, but sweeter . Love <3 !

I actually like refresh mint and grape pop but voted for the mint one. I think I will definitely get this, esp now that my local Ulta carries China glaze now

Love the Yellows! It’s kind of a big deal to have a yellow that has good coverage, isn’t it? (Pipe up, nail polish gurus!)

Karen, How funny was 30 Rock this week? When Liz stepped in front of the high-def camera I just about died laughing!

I stay away from yellow polishes but i love Tina Fey so much that I would buy a polish if it was called ‘Liz Lemon’ – the four leaf clover is my favorite right now.
