Bobbi Brown Pretty Pink Metallic Lip Color: Yeah, It’s Good

August 3rd, 2008 by Karen 38 Comments

When it comes to pink lipsticks, I am a one-woman army. I’ve been hoarding them since high school. My arsenal is such that if hostile aliens landed and the fate of the world hinged on our ability to scare them away with tubes of pink lipstick, the Earth would prevail! I’d whip out one of my new favorite pink shades for fall, Bobbi Brown’s Pretty Pink Metallic Lip Color ($22), and wave it above my head like a light saber.

“Check out the shimmery gold and warm pink color,” I’d call to the trembling alien army. “The metallic shine reminds me of Chanel’s Aqualumiere lipsticks, but the formula feels thicker on the lips.”

One by one, they’d beam away to their mothership, far, far away from the scent- and taste-free tube.

Pretty Pink is one of 15 new Bobbi Brown Metallic Lip Colors arriving this October for fall.

Moments before the alien mothership left orbit, the trembling invaders would hear my defiant voice rip through the heavens one final time: “The formula lasts at least three hours!”

On Earth, I’d be hailed a hero, a pink lipstick-wielding champion. Perhaps I’d even get a cool medal, and never again would folks ask, “Dude, what’s up with all the pink lipstick?”

Wow Karen, your teeth are mind blowingly WHITE!
I remember in a previous post you mentioned getting them Zoom-whitened. How was that experience? You should make a post, I’m totally contemplating getting it done!

That lipstick is gorgeous, btw! I am starting to really love Bobbi Brown products. The only thing that I dislike is the price! haha

Girl, you are brilliant. I can so see you swinging that pink lipstick around like a light saber (I’ve seen it loads of time, my brother’s addicted to Star Wars… I know what I’m talking about;))
Plus it looks great on you. What more could you ask for?

You are so adorable, Karen. Crazy posts like this are why you’re first on my beauty blog rss feed!

I love pink lipstick and gloss, but I don’t have any metallics. Bobby Brown may have a new fan with this release.

Also, I got sucked into buying a $28 gloss the other day: Hourglass Extreme Sheen in Primal (it looks SO GOOD on me). Have you tried this line at all? I found a couple more shades on Ebay for $5-10 each and I may grab them as well.

That’s kind of the best story I’ve ever read. Here’s to you saving our planet in the name of lipstick! 😀

On that note, I really am loving that color. I normally shy away from pink lipsticks because of my coloring (I have pretty pigmented lips, so pink tends to wash me out), but that looks like very wearable, even for me.

That’s also a very impressive lasting time for a lipstick. Rock on defending the universe! 😀

I know this is out of topic, but I saw Dark Knight earlier today, and it was awesome!!! And Christian Bale was hottt!!!! I was just bothered by his really weird raspy voice everytime he was Batman. Heath Ledger was great too!! I don’t know if it’s me, but I find Cilian Murphy (Scare Crow) kinda hot. You may have remembered him from Red Eye or 28 days later?

This is very nice on you. I will have to check it out just to see how it looks on me. I’ve never tried any Bobbi Brown products before so this is exciting except that I still have to wait 3 months.

About applying mascara, I’m the same as you. It is easier for me to do my left eye with my right hand (I’m right-handed too). I noticed it quite some time ago as it was easier to curl and sweep my left eye lashes (so my left eye lashes are more fabulous than the right). I figured that it could be because the right hand is too near to the right eye, and when doing the right eye, I tend to turn my head slightly to the left and it becomes harder to look straight into the mirror. Just my theory haha…

You are my hero! I always knew that the fate of all mankind would rest in the hands of a pink-lipstick-wielding woman!!

By the way – the color looks great on you. And you say the consistency is thicker than an Aqualumiere? Ooohhhh – I must have at least one.

I got a sneak peek this weekend at the rest of the fall and holiday colors for Bobbi Brown. Let me just say that we are all in for some wonderful things to tempt us to spend more money.

    Hi Tiffany,

It was a bit traumatic. During the process I had to sit really still with this very uncomfortable tray in my mouth for really long periods of time. And for days afterwards my teeth hurt. I wouldn’t do it again or recommend it. These days I just use whitening toothpaste. 🙂

    Hi Elena,

Ha! Thanks! It’s probably gonna be one of those colors that changes on everybody; on me a ton of the gold comes out. I hope it works with your skin color, though. What colors do you usually reach for?

    Hi Joanne,

LOL, I noticed the same thing about his voice. It wasn’t nearly as weird in the Batman Begins!

Cilian Murphy is a bit too pretty boy for me, but I gotta say he’s got nice eyes.

    Hi Miss QQ,

The three months will go quick… then you’ll be richly rewarded with pink goodness!

Hmm, interesting. I usually can do both eyes equally as well, but there’s something about the Exceptionnel de Chanel rotating brush method that makes it challenging.

    Hi Julia,

Yup! He’s signed up for three Terminator flicks. I could just DIE, I tell ya. I’m a huge fan of the series and I nearly fainted when I found out he was going to be in it. The only thing I’m worried about is that I’m not very confidant about the director, McG. I hope he does right by the story!

Primal is a pretty red with very very tiny red shimmery flecks. If I put a thin coat on it’s natural looking (well, as natural as a shiny gloss can be!), and if I put a thick coat on my lips look amazing. If I can find my camera I’ll send you a pic. The color I got on ebay is on the purpley end of pink.
