The Chanel Les Impressions Nail Polishes and My Thursday Manicure

January 14th, 2010 by Karen 29 Comments

Ladies, can I get a little help? The MAC mani I rocked earlier this week now features more chips than a Cheetos convention (that’s what I get for skipping the top coat, DOH!). It’s time for something new.

I’m in the mood for springy, like one of the three polishes from Les Impressions de Chanel ($23 each). Have you had a chance to see ’em yet?

Particuliere goes on like a creamy grayish brown. I really dig the color and coverage, and two coats is all it takes for opaque nails with nary a streak. Of all three spring shades, it’s the one I’m guessing will have the widest appeal, looking great on ladies with skin tones from warm to cool, light to dark. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

Inattendu, a peachy beige cream, is the trickster of the bunch. The texture’s thicker than usual for a Chanel polish, and the finish a touch streaky. It took three coats to achieve a full-coverage look and takes forever to dry, oy! But this delicate shade sings “SPRING.” I bet it’ll look fantastic on warm-toned girls. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B

Doesn’t Tenderesse, a pale baby pink, look like something Essie would do? It’s a basic, semi-sheer pink that doesn’t streak (big plus!) — neutral enough to look great on just about anyone. Can you see yourself wearing it to a big event like a wedding, yes? If you know a bride-to-be, it might even make a great wedding shower gift. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

Actually my love splits equal between Tendresse and Particuliere, they are beautiful warm spring shades but I’ve voted for Tendresse because my spirit is still Pink 🙂

I voted Particuliere and have wanted it since I saw it on the models on the runway, but I also want Tendresse, I think Inattendu will not be right for my uber-pale coolt oned skin, unfortunatly. These haven’t hit the UK yet but hpefully they will be mine soon!

Particuliere has won my heart! The color would be great to wear to work and for jeans and a T. I need Vamp though, the counters by my house are always out 🙁

Love Particuliere! Even though its a cream it has some depth to it. It’s not a flat looking color.

Tendresse is awfully pretty and would be wonderful for a “no pressure manicure” Although I think I’ve got a color really close to this somewhere in my not to vast collection of polish colors.

I recently got Particuliere and love it. Not a huge fan of the other two, they are too sheer for my taste.

I voted for Particulière but would most definitely not say no to Tendresse. Both would be pretty with my uber-pale self 🙂

I personally like Particuliere so I voted for that. I bought OPI’s Over the Taupe instead- it’s a pretty good dupe and currently my favorite manicure color.

Particuliere is my favorite, but for a spring-themed mani on you I vote for Inattendu (plus, it’ll coordinate beautifully with the Jade on your toes 😉 )!

I have particuliere and inattendu, and love both. I didn’t have the same issues with the latter, we are about the same colouring ad I love how these shades look on us.

Chanel nailed it with this whole collection. The only thing I regret not having of purchased is the new Soleil Tan de Chanel (luminizer). I think I will pick it up soon. But everything else is stellar.

Such pretty colors! I voted for Tendresse, because pink is my favorite color. However, I would love to try out Particuliere as well. Hmm, I feel a sudden urge to visit the Chanel counter tomorrow! Thanks for sharing with us!

i love tenderesse because its a classic baby pink that you can wear in any season and get away with it. Definitely worth the moolah. Also, i have noticed that chanel polishes don’t go bad after years. I have had a couple for five years now and unlike my OPIs they are exactly like what they were 5 years ago. Definitely worth it. Who actually finishes a bottle of nail polish anyways? lol.

Particuliere is my favorite, not really feeling the other two. I’m not sure if I like Particuliere enough to drop the $23 though. I keep thinking about it, but I really want Nars’ Purple Rain polish this spring and one high end polish a season is all I can wrap my head around!

Of course dupe guesses are almost always off, but Particuliere looks a lot like Zoya’s Pasha to me. I own and love Pasha, so I can see the appeal of this color. But I won’t be dumping $23 to buy a color I essentially already own. (Incidentally, Pasha is only $7, by comparison.) Tendresse looks really pretty. I have a hard time finding sheer pinks that aren’t either too white or too sheer. This one looks perfect, although, again, not going to spend $23 on polish. Maybe I’ll just peruse the Essie catalog to try and find a match.

I looooooooooove Particuliere!! I have thought of a greyish nail polish for years!!! It took Chanel so long to catch up with me 😛

I’ve just bought it from ebay at an increased price. fashion victim? who cares! It will reach us in the uk on the 29th of January but I cannot face the idea of queuing up and see it being sold out in half an hour in Selfridges. No. That’s not me. So I paid more, but I have one bottle, which will hit my door mat in a week or so.

Great reviews in this blog! Love the blog. Please keep up the good fashion/make up work!! 🙂

I’m wearing Tendresse right now and love it! I find that it comes out jelly-like in 2 coats and I’m a sucker for jelly polishes. I also tried Inattendu at the Chanel counter and to my surprise I loved it too. I thought it would be too peachy seeing other people’s swatches but it came out as a great nude color for me. I’m making myself wait for another makeup splurge day to get it. I didn’t bother with Particuliere since I already own OPI’s YDKJ which is a touch darker.

I’m a medium dark olive and I really like to imagine Inattendu on my nails! I don’t like Particuliere at all. I like similar colors in a more pearlescent/metallic finish though. I’ve used pink polish in various shades for the past three years having gone through a major pink stage but the color is a bit tired to my eyes. Still have pinks to use up. Some are similar to Tendresse which I imagine is universally more flattring than Particuliere.
