New in Beauty, Jan. 27: A Bronze Goddess Gets Summer Stripes and NARS Gets Matte About Lips

January 27th, 2010 by Karen 25 Comments

New in Beauty

  • Yay or nay to Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess blush/bronzer compact for summer?
  • Blend to build a blush with these springy new Rimmel Lasting Finish Powder Blushes ($5). Each comes with three swirl-able shades for mix/matching. 🙂
  • Fascinating! NARS’s new (silicone-based) Lip Stain Glosses ($24) have a matte finish in gloss form?
  • Now THAT’s a funky applicator — Dior’s new Capture Totale Instant Eye Rescue ($95) eye cream.
  • Hmm… I’ve got a few dark spots eager to try Clarins’ Bright Plus On-the-Spot Corrector ($35).
  • Shiseido’s The Make Perfect Rouge Glowing Matte Lip Colour ($25) is making spring matte-er.
  • No worries. Shiseido’s also making sure there’s still plenty of shiny lipgloss to go around!
  • The T3 SinglePass Flat Iron ($160) has tourmaline-infused plates (sounds like something from a comic book, LOL!) to supposedly straighten strands in a single pass.
  • Could Milani’s new HD Advanced Concealer be the $7 drugstore answer to YSL’s Touche Eclat?
  • From now through March, Bliss will donate 75% of the proceeds from sales of their Softening Socks ($48) and Glamour Gloves ($48) to Unicef relief efforts in Haiti.

Congratulations on making it to hump day with me, ladies! 🙂 I can see the summit, with the weekend not far below. Let’s do this!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

That T3 SIngle Pass Flat Iron sounds intriguing. I normally have to use a couple of passes at least with my CHI.

I’ve never tried Milani cosmetics but if they have a Touche Eclat knock off for $7 I think I might have to pick that up!

The Rimmel blushes look interesting. I might give those a try. I have a bronzer from Rimmel that I love and use as a blush on my darker skintone. Getting past Wednesday is always good. Can’t wait for the weekend, but how the heck is it already the end of January? 🙂

I’ve tried their sold color blushes and they’re pretty good! Can’t wait to the stripey ones now.

Which bronzer do you use? I wonder if it’ll work for me…

Hope you’re having a good day so far!

The NARS Lip stain gloss, are like a liquid lipstick, but they are hardly new 🙂 They have been around for years. I am still hoping Mr Nars will expand the shade selection. All the current ones are very dark, but nevertheless a heavenly product.

Interesting. Funny that Bloomie’s listed it under their New Arrivals section… maybe they were referring to a new shade. Have a great day! 🙂

That NARS lip stain looks very interesting…… I have a very quick question. Does anyone know of a good drugstore leave in conditioner? I just got my hair cut and I want to keep it healthy 🙂 Thanks

Hey Devs, I’ve used Infusium 23’s in the past and really liked it. Aussie’s Hair Insurance works great too, and the spray is very handy!

Hi, Jen. But sometimes I just prefer the way yay looks in print. I also spell y’all as ya’ll and use WAY more apostrophes, ellipses (in which I frequently leave off the trailing fourth period when they appear at the end of complete sentences) and hyphens than I should. What can I say? 🙂

      How’s your day coming along?

Hi Sharon! Yes, I have the spray oil and love it. It reminds me of summer. 🙂 If you like that scent you might also love Bobbi Brown’s Beach.

The Estee Lauder bronzer compact is really pretty! but most of the time, if I ever purchase these LE items, they would end up in my collection instead of being used. 😉

The Estee Lauder compact looks very retro. Perhaps a bit 70’s?

The fourth NARS item I ever purchased was this NARS lipstain in Victorie. Did they change the formula? I bought mine about two years ago.
