Annick Goutal Petite Cherie Body Cream: You and I Make Quite a Pear

August 12th, 2008 by Karen 26 Comments

After the MAC Studio Talk class on Saturday, I wandered around the Bloomingdale’s fragrance department, and this very cute jar of Annick Goutal Petite Cherie body cream ($95 for a 6.7 oz jar) caught my eye.

Cute, yah? I love the etched leaves and flower, the font (LOL, I’m a font nerd) and the lil’ angels at the top.

Petite Cherie body cream smells like a just-bitten, fresh ripe pear. It has notes of fresh cut grass, which complement the pear and keep its sweetness in check.

I think I like the cream more than Petite Cherie Eau de Toilette Spray, which has more dominant peach and vanilla notes on my skin. The spray is a bit too candy sweet for me.

The scent of the cream lasts for a couple hours. I tested it on my hands in the store, and it was still present two hours later. It feels rich without leaving a greasy film.

I would totally be on this if it weren’t for the super steep price. The 6.7-oz jar would last quite a while, but $95 is a lot to spend on a body cream.

Still, give the scent a sniff if you get the chance. If you like pear, I think you might like it.

Oh! Annick Goutal also makes a full line of face and body care products called Splendide Skin Care, with similarly cute packaging.

The 14-item line features cleansers, toners and moisturizers with an “active rose serum,” ranging from $48-145. I snagged a few samples, but I think I like these more for how they look than anything else. Aren’t they pretty? I’d like to put all of these jars and bottles on a mirrored tray set on top of my vanity, right next to a crystal vase filled with tea roses. 🙂

We made it to Tuesday, ladies! I feel so much better today than I felt yesterday. It’s amazing what a few hours of rest can do for your mental health!

Of course, now I’ve got a lot of catching up to do at work. If I have time tonight, I want to visit the MAC counter to see Girl About Town Lipstick once more. Whatcha got going on today?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oh man, those are vanity display worthy products! I bet they smell awesome but do not love the price tag though. I’ve never had anything pear fragrance before 🙂 It’s raining cats and dogs around here, which means I do not need to water the plants today.

Ouch, that price tag hurts. Speaking of which, have you ever tried the Creme de la Mer products? Those are verrry pricey too ($130/oz!!!) but they are so hyped up. I don’t know if it’s worth diving into…

Dear lord – her stuff is phenomenal. Yes, the price tag is a bit on the vomit-inducing side, HOWEVER it’s well worth it! I’ve been using her skincare line for the past month and my skin has never looked quite so rosy and dewy…I’m interested in this body cream though, will have to snag some samples asap!

Oh, those creams… I’m a total sucker for vine and leaf motifs! I don’t have any Annick Goutal at all, but it’s definitely something I want to add to my arsenal at some point!

Glad you’re feeling better today! I don’t really have anything specific to do, but Hubby says he wants me to take a break later so maybe I’ll head over to the MAC store too! Maybe they’ll show me the Cult of Cherry stuff today…. 🙂

    Hi Dao,

Summer rain! We don’t get that here in the Bay Area. Is it hot out there when it rains? I bet it feels refreshing.

I bet you’re wearing a good waterproof mascara today, hah!

    Hi Jessica,

I have tried Creme de la Mer. The textures feel rich and luxurious, but I think it’s very expensive for what you get. I’ve used both the face wash and the cream and they were both just okay on my skin. What skin products are you using now? Do you like ’em?

    Hi Glosslizard,

I hope you’re feeling better today, too. Cult of Cherry will instantly cheer you up, for sure!

Annick Goutal is one of my fave perfumers. If only that cream were half as much, I’d totally be on it. Le sigh…

That cream has gorgeous packaging, it sounds like something I’d really like, but the price tag is something my wallet really wouldn’t like 😛 They’d look great sitting on my bathroom counter though, lol.

Today I’m just laying around for a couple more hours (I’m being so lazy today, I think it’s the blah weather), heading into work for a few hours, then heading over to my BFF’s house to just hang out and have dinner.

    Hi Rachel,

I go through lotion pretty quickly, too. Plus, with the fantastic smell I’d be tempted to use it all the time.

my favorite font was called Tabitha – on outlook – yeah I’m a font geek too! I’m all about Pear myself, I recently bought the big ass Marc Jacobs Pear scent – my FAVORITE right now! I was just at Bloomingdales – I must have missed that then again I had a crying baby in a stroller that was begging me to feed her!

    Hi Karen B.,

It’s actually a very tasteful interpretation of pear. You won’t be walking around smelling like a basket of fruit. 🙂

Were you working at the sports camp today?

    Hi Lexi,

I haven’t smelled the Marc Jacobs Pear yet! I’m all over that…

Tabitha is a good one. How do you feel about Scriptina? I was so obsessed with that one two years ago.

    Karen –

You gotta try the face wash (not the exfoliating one, but that one is good as well). It’s in a tall glass bottle and is a rosy pink color…also, the face cream (specifically, Cream Genereuse). THIS is the stuff that I am convinced has completely turned my skin around. Never have I ever had skin problems (aside from the random zit here and there) but, suddenly, 6 months ago my face began to resemble a pepperoni pizza. I can’t tell you how much money I spent on dermatologists and drugstore “finds”, but this is literally the creme de la creme (pun definitely intended).

Nope, the sport camp was only one week. I’m on my second week at mcdonalds now. And then I have two weeks in September too ^^

Oh, and I tried a charcoal-blue smokey eye tonight. It went very well, my mum did think it was WAY too dark, but I liked it ^^

    Hi Alyssa,

Oh no! The same thing happened to me, twice — once when I was 19 and the second time when I was 27. I’m glad you found something that works for you, though, because having acne is such a pain. Next time I go to Bloomie’s I will try and snag a sample of of both of these things. They sound great!

    Hi Karen B.,

AH, Micky D’s… I’m lovin’ it. I have a weakness for the breakfast menu (Egg McMuffin, YUM!). How do you like your job so far?

Oh! And what did you use for your smokey eye?

We don’t have the breakfast menu :p Egg McMuffin is pretty good though (I tried it in london). It’s fun. It’s a nice crew who all work hard and if sth goes wrong or there’s a lot of people they do try to help eachother out so that’s nice. Two guys that aren’t too hard on the eyes, one of which keeps on joking around with me so that’s nice 😉

I used my Stila Kajiki duo. My mum was like O_o Lol. She’s so used to my natural make-up or bright make-up. Anything with dark colours she thinks is too much. Then again, most people with my natural make-up and hair put up think I’m like 17 or so. Lol
