A Few MAC Riveting Lip Swatches

February 13th, 2010 by Karen 33 Comments

Hey, gals. 🙂 Here are some Saturday lip swatches from the upcoming MAC Riveting collection.

Let me know what you think.

And for more MAC Riveting…

  1. MAC Riveting: What Would You Get?
  2. MAC Riveting Has My Undivided Attention
  3. I’m Matte as Hell about MAC Riveting Nail Lacquers!!!

True Babe Lipglass

Rock Out Lipglass

Riveting Lipstick

Metal Maven Lipstick (um, not my favorite!)

Just for fun I did a couple of combos…

Riveting Lipstick and Rock Out Lipglass

Riveting Lipstick and True Babe Lipglass

Metal Maven Lipstick and True Babe Lipglass

I’m leaning toward Riveting Lipstick and True Babe Lipglass, but the edgier colors like Metal Maven Lipstick and Rock Out Lipglass aren’t really my thing (of course, I have been known to change my mind). 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Thanks for sharing! Kind of disappointed in the Riveting lipstick. If only it were opaque/as it looks in the tube!

Love the pinks, HATE the sliver. Too frosted.

It’s not my favorite either! There’s gotta be somebody out there who looks good in it though (I hope!).

True babe looks good on you! It’s nice to know what stuff looks like on a fellow tan gal. I wasn’t sure if I could rock it, but now I think I can!

True Babe lipglass looks gorgeous! I’ve been searching for a matte deep pink gloss like the one in the new Smashbox Heartbreaker collection.

Ooooh definitely check this one out then. I liked the Smashbox Heartbreaker one, but this one has a lil’ bit more punch!

You gotta be sure to have a good liner though, as it tends to migrate.

Metal Maven looks exactly as I expected it to–only appropriate for a 1960s Halloween costume. Riveting looks surprisingly more flattering than I would have expected it to, but that doesn’t really mean it would look the same on me, given our different skin tones. True Babe Lipglass is definitely on my wishlist though!

You should give Riveting a go! I honestly didn’t think it would look decent on my when I first saw it in the tube, but you never know until you try it.

How’s your weekend going? Are you doing any studying?

Hmm, Riveting looks nothing like I expected it to! It looks much better than I pictured, actually. Still, I probably will skip this collection.

I was really surprised with how wearable that shade was! You’re right, it looks kinda scary in the tube.

Hope you’re having a great weekend!

think i’m passing on this collection, though i did grab several things when i got my face done a few days ago with pieces from the most recent collection: ripe peach ombre blush, and fresh salmon and kamkuat. the mua suggested hodgepodge lip pencil to bring down the “brightness” of the lips for me. very pretty!

i LOVE it! i wanted something to add to my collection that was a bit more understated, and this did it. my girlfriends and i went out friday for a “girls” valentine’s day: dinner at pf chang’s and “a valentine’s day” movie. i had a couple compliments even on how they liked my cheeks.

I think I would only buy true babe; everything else has too much glitter in it for my taste.

It’s quite glitterlicious. True Babe is pretty… but I had some trubs with it staying in place. Be sure to have a good liner on hand! 🙂

Yeah, as everyone else said, True Babe is the best on you!

Metal Maven reminds me a bit of this very opaque, icy silver-blue lipgloss that I had the summer after 7th grade (1999 — back during the Hard Candy craze) that I loved intensely. In retrospect, that was a poor choice on my part.

    Hi Karen:

I love your blog and especially your swatches posts. Just wondering which camera do you use to take such perfect pics?

    Thanks !!!

      Hi Meredith!

Sorry it took me a while to see this comment, but I wanted to answer. I use a few different cameras. I use a Canon Ti DSLR with a 50mm f1.8 lens for a lot of my Daily Beauty/Photos and pics of tabs. For most of my macro shots I use either a Canon 960IS or a Canon G11 point and shoot.

Unfortunately, I am not liking any of these lip glosses or lipsticks. Oh well, more money for Spring Color Forecast & mineral blushes.

    Karen,
I love the rock out. A little glitter and shine make for a very sexy pout brightening my mood for the day…. but i do love a little gloss.
