5 Fun Facts about the New Chanel Rouge Coco Lipsticks

February 19th, 2010 by Karen 45 Comments

1. The secret signature

The distinctive Chanel logo on the top of each Rouge Coco lipstick is easy to spot, but there’s also a hidden engraved double C logo inside each cap.

Meet five the 30 lovely Rouge Coco ladies (from left to right): Cambon 31, Legende 11, La Pausa 08, Mademoiselle 05, Perle 02

2. There’s a reason Chanel Rouge Coco tubes feel cool to the touch

Chanel Global Director of Makeup Peter Philips and his team revamped the shape and material used to house the new lipsticks, choosing metal cases that would cool down quickly…

For more info on the Rouge Coco line check out:

  • Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Color: An Ode to Mademoiselle
  • The Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colors Are Movin’ On Up!

Why? Because they want women reaching into their purses for their lipstick to get a fresh sensation when they wrap their fingers around a Rouge Coco tube. 🙂

3. They have a new signature scent

An in-house olfactory lab tweaked the classic Chanel lipstick scent ever so slightly, adding fresh roses, raspberry and a hint of vanilla.

4. It took hundreds of prototype tubes to find the perfect click

Engineers went through several trials to perfect the closure system of the Rouge Coco lipsticks, opening and closing hundreds of tubes until they found just the right feel to the soft press on the cap and sound of the lipstick clicking shut.

5. The shade Vanessa Paradis wears in the Coco Rouge campaign is called Mademoiselle

It’s a creamy rose, cleverly numbered “05.”

Bonjour, Mademoiselle!

The Rouge Coco lipsticks sashay onto Chanel counters on February 25. What do ya think?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Viva la weekend, babes! Do you have any plans? I think I’ll just chill at home, maybe order some takeout and play with makeup (as usual).

Gorgeous colors! One day I’ll own a Chanel lippie.

I am trying to behave & stay at home since I am fighting a crappy cold. I just discovered the show Damages tonight & I am downloading season 1 from iTunes so you know I’ll be watching it this weekend.

    Have a great one!

Oh no. I hope you feel better soon! I had a cold last week … the only good thing about it is that it came and went quickly. Don’t forget to drink your fluids!

How is Damages? I’ve seen promos for it but never got around to watching it.

Watched the 1st episode & I am hooked. I am downloading the first season on iTunes so I can watch it on my TV rather than my macbook.

From what I have seen, I recommend it.

It’s about lawyers, right? I tend to stay away from those types of shows — too many years in the law dept will do that to you.

I must say Damages is absolutely fantastic! Don’t let the legal aspect hold you back from watching the show. I’d think of it more as a psychological thriller than legal drama actually. Glenn Close is amazing in her role as Patty Hughes.

Love your blog, by the way, Karen!

Ooh, I love the shade Vanessa is wearing! It looks more matte on her though, which is odd. I think I like it a little better matte, but it’s just a gorgeous color either way!
How do they feel? I’ve never actually tried a Chanel lipstick, but I’ve heard they’re really creamy and smooth.
(Also I feel the need to add that Cambon 31 is friggin’ awesome. I don’t think I could pull it off, but I totally envy the women who can.)

They all have different textures, but in general they feel very smooth.

This new formulation is very nice — super-hydrating, long lasting with a nice slip!

Plans? Retail therapy. Apparently cleaning the entire kitchen top to bottom because I needed a way to vent out my extreme grief and anger meant $$$ for me to spend. I normally despise cleaning, but whenever I’m extremely conflicted with my emotions or incredibly worried I either go on a cleaning spree or I bake whilst having an incredibly short fuse. Anything sets off my anger when I’m one of the above. Ironically, I don’t do it when I’m stressed.

I’m thinking about by the Romance shirt in Coffee, Sweetness shirt in either black or white (I’m leaning towards white) and Relax Lace in the reddish pink off this site-> KLPigMenTShop

I’m not sure about the dress though. What do you think? I have Romance in white and I wore it three days straight so I’m absolutely getting it in Coffee; it’s just so versatile! I’m waiting for the weather to warm up to wear Angel (have it in white).

The other thing I’m doing is homework. I got an anthropology paper on proverbs (still waiting for my mom to finish her informant thing), a study guide for Abnormal Psychology (test Monday), reading for Cultural Anthropology and History of Non-Western Civilization and I think I have Creative Writing homework (need to check).

I think a date with Jurlique is needed too.

Those are lovely! Cambon is my favorite of the ones you posted. I’m pretty new to lipstick, but I just picked up a couple of Kevyn Aucoin l/s in the recent HauteLook sale and now I’m hooked!

As for my weekend – I’m working 8 hours tomorrow and 12 on Sunday. :/ Tomorrow evening, though, I have a nice mellow evening planned – I’m going to stop by my friend’s place for homemade Goan food, finish watching No Impact Man with my BF, and hopefully tidy my apartment a bit. 🙂

Oh dear, there goes my hard-earned cash 😉 Haha. Actually I’ve been saving up for these, have hardly spent any money the past two months (let’s not count the dvd box of the first season of Mad Men… LOVE that show!).
Mademoiselle is definitely on the top of my list but I think I could be persuaded by some other colours too… I’ll just have to go and play I guess.

I really can’t wait for these ones to come to my counter!! Mademoiselle will be mine, but I’m thinking of Legende too (though it looks a bit similar to Comedia R.Allure). I haven’t bought a lipstick in ages, waiting from something new from Chanel, they are my weakness!

What am I doing this weekend- redecorating my room- buried by boxes full of books and suitcases full of clothes.

Hey, I just noticed a little saying at the right bottom corner, love it!!!
