MAC Too Fabulous Mineralize Blushes Offer a Bounty for Medium to Dark Skin Tones

March 4th, 2010 by Karen 57 Comments

MARIN COUNTY — A Novato woman tripped in a popular department store on Thursday as she walked up to a MAC Cosmetics makeup counter. The woman, also a beauty blogger, said she was “hell bent” on seeing the new MAC Too Fabulous collection and momentarily forgot how to walk. She also warned store security to “get out of my [her] way! Crazed MAC fanatic coming through!” 🙂

SO stoked about the Lip Pencils, ladies! Have you seen ’em yet?

I’ll have more swatches of the collection soon (for reference, I’m an NC35), but here are the six Mineralize Blushes ($23).

Five of the six are on the darker side of the spectrum, so medium- to dark-skinned beauties (if you like frosty blushes), JACKPOT!

That doesn’t mean Pale babes are out of luck, though. Not even close. 🙂

Take a look at light peachy pink Rhapsody in Two… I get the feeling it’ll rock hard on lighter skin, and regardless of how dark any of these shades are, you can always build the colors slowly in layers with the help of a good fan brush (I really like the Shu Uemura 7.5EX).

Speaking of brushes for blushes, particularly brushes that work well with the MAC Mineralize Blushes, this might help.

MAC Too Fabulous Mineralize Blush swatches

Bi-Tone, Buddy Up, Chic Couple

Rhapsody in Two, Sun and Moon, Two Virtues

What’s your take on MAC Too Fabulous so far? See anything you like?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. More MAC Too Fabulous coming soon…

Gorgeous blushes (Think I saw them in stores here but I might be mistaken) but a little too dark for me still. I guess that’s money saved? 😉 I’m thinking of Ripe Peach. Not sure yet though.

OOOH. Buddy Up looks soooo pretty on your skin! And not too sparkly either! I’m impressed! Unfortunately it also looks a bit too much like P&J #10 and the R&R X-Rated blush I just bought… so I guess I will be skipping on this one.

I have super fair skin and imo Rhapsody in Two would be the only option, the rest is pbly to dark to be easy to work with and lilac shades also always look muddy on my cheeks.

The reason I didn’t buy RiT is that I think its similar to last years Moonriver, which I already have.

Surprisungly I havent seen any comparison swatches at all. .. but someone who owns both told me RiT is warmer and somewhat more peachy, but its not enough to justify a purchase for me. I would have loved a light and reeeally peachy/apricot blush which I would have found a little more unique, but I guess the peachy pink mixture sells much better, which I can totally understand.

Karen, you make the most beautiful photos! <3

This was a very good breakdown of the color differences, Didinium! Thank you! Hopefully this will help a few of the fair girls out there make their color decisions. 🙂

i love these! i love the rhapsody because my complexion is so fair…

karen-i was wondering if you could answer a quick question for me. i already own Pink Daft which i believe is also a msf from mac, and i just got my benefit sugarbomb yesterday…do you think the rhapsody is too similar to pink daft and sugarbomb to be worth purchasing? (im kinda on a tight budget! spent over WAYYYYY too much money at sephora last week.. EEEEK)

      Hi Meghan,

Daft Pink was from the Colour Craft collection (you can see a swatch here if you want to compare); I think it’s slightly warmer and more pink, whereas Rhapsody is a touch cooler and more peachy white. If you’re happy with it and you’re on a tight budget, I don’t think the difference is so significant that you need to snatch Rhapsody ASAP.

I looooove Sugarbomb and totally think it’s worth it. It looks good on a lot of different skin tones. I have a friend who’s about a billion shades lighter than me and she rocks it, HARD.

You could several of these… check out Bi-Tone, Buddy Up, Chic Couple, and Sun & Moon. How do you feel about the frosty finish? You have to really like the shimmer if you wanna get a blush like this.

Picked up Two Virtues last night – I’m surprised how much I love it. Usually the MSF blushes are too frosty for my liking but this one is actually subtle on me – maybe the key is just a light hand application. I may go back for Buddy Up or Rhapsody in Two as a highlighter.
