Swatch Out! MAC Too Fabulous Lip Pencils and Cremesheen Glasses

March 4th, 2010 by Karen 56 Comments

Girls, can we talk for a sec about how MAC handles color? The line has a rep for bright, bold makeup, but every so often they’ll come out with a collection that kinda throws me for a loop.

Right now that collection’s Too Fabulous, with its darker Mineralized Blush colors, and delicately colored Lip Pencils ($13) and Cremesheen Glasses ($18).

Cremesheen Glasses in Partial to Pink, Just Superb, Loud & Lovely, Boy Bait, Fashion Scoop

Cremesheen Glasses in Double Dare, Deelight, Richer Lusher, Over Indulgence

The creamy Cremesheen Glasses sure do shine and remind me of melting ice cream (*tummy rumbles*). I dig the mix of pinks, corals and browns — soft, wearable and fabulous (ha!) for daytime.

Um… what’s a Cremesheen Glass?
It’s like a MAC Lipglass only thinner, sheerer and creamier. All nine of this batch (some of them have appeared in previous releases) are now part of MAC’s permanent line.

Lip Pencils in Boldly Bare, Chestnut, In Synch, Mouth Off, Naked Liner, Trimmed in Pink

I think the colors of these Cremesheen’s nicely complement the Lip Pencils here. MAC did a faboo job with a batch of everyday colors for a wide range of skin tones. If you have darker skin, take a gander at Chestnut, a creamy brown. I’m liking the way it looks on brown babes. And Paler princesses, check out Naked Liner, an uber-light and creamy neutral that almost looks like a concealer.

Lip Pencils in Boldly Bare, Chestnut, In Synch, Mouth Off, Naked Liner, Trimmed in Pink (on my NC35 skin)

Partial to Pink, Just Superb, Loud & Lovely, Boy Bait, Fashion Scoop

Double Dare, Deelight, Richer Lusher, Over Indulgence

This afternoon I fell (ha! literally) for three of the (six) Lip Pencils — Mouth Off, Trimmed in Pink and Boldly Bare — but passed on the Cremesheen Glasses. Since MAC made ’em permanent fixtures, I figure I have some time to decide.

So how was your Thursday? What was the highlight of your day? Mine was the drive I took through my old neighborhood in Mill Valley. Someone lives in my old apartment now, aww… I hope they like it.

I also picked up a couple of mini-cupcakes that I’m saving for desert. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I LOVE the look of that promo image, but I am really sad that I can’t pull off pale lips like that! Whenever I wear stuff paler than my skintone, I just end up looking a little sick. I do really want Loud & Lovely and Double Dare though, those look LOVELY.

I’ve actually fallen in love. This is the first MAC lipglass that I’ve purchased (don’t hate me!) so I’m digging the consistency! Plus I don’t like how pigmented my lips look when they’re irritated, so I looooove me some nude gloss.

🙂 Even though you’re on no buy you can still go and play!

I did get a little nostalgic. For the first time in many months it didn’t feel like home, which was weird. I guess I’m finally settling into Novato.

BTW, don’t you have work off today?

I get nostalgic from time to time when I am near the apartments where I grew up in Novato especially when I see all the changes.

Yup so happy to have the day off. Although I woke up at the same time as if I had gotten up to work.

Oh, I know! Even though I haven’t been gone for long, I noticed a few big changes ’round the old neighborhood. I think what I miss most is the activity. I lived near Strawberry Village, so there was always stuff going on — people walking or biking by, kids playing, families shopping. Where I am now is a bit more quiet, which is nice, but I miss being able to walk across the street and have my pick of cafes, ya know?

They are very bridal colors, for sure. The only thing is the wear time isn’t all that great for the Cremesheen Glasses… I feel like I have to apply them at least every hour or so.

I picked up Richer, Lusher yesterday (a perfect peach to wear over pink lippies for the orange-shy), and will probably eventually go back for Double Dare! Pity they didn’t add Petite Indulgence to the the lot, it was my favorite Cremesheen!

ZOMG–I’m totally relieved that these are a permanent addition… at least this way, I’ll be able to buy them in the US or Tax-free when I travel, instead of in the Norwegian department stores (which make prices 2.5-3.5 times higher than in the US)… =/

Wow…I bought six of the cremesheens yesterday-I didn’t have any, and four I considered must-have, but I splurged on the extra two because the SA told me all were LE, only Boy Bait was a perm shade.

I got to see this yesterday, and only ended up with 2 of the mineralized blushes! I really wanted to love Naked Liner, but it just looked sooo pale on me (or maybe I put too much?.) so I didn’t get that one. The hot pink liner looks great too but I still have a lot of my Pink Treat liner left! 🙂 I wanted to get Loud and Lovely (hot pink cremesheen glass) but its perm so I can wait before I get it 🙂

THe mineralized blushes are gorgeous though!! xx

I like this collection more than Liberty of London. Perhaps I’m being practical with my makeup choices, I don’t know 😉 I got two Naked Liners, I thought it would go perfect for creating a sharper lip line. I didn’t get In Sync liner, but I probably will do so soon along with Rhapsody in Two and maybe Two Virtues. I will pick up some cremesheen glass once I actually finish some of the glosses I have since they’re permanent.
