Hairy Beast Be Gone! Neutrogena Rainbath Shower and Shave Body Wash

August 29th, 2008 by Karen 10 Comments

I was cruising around my ‘hood the other day when I saw the above poster in front of a salon. It conveys how I’ve felt practically *every day* since puberty. Seriously, where does all the hair come from??? It’s like I’m a Play-Doh Mop Top Hair shop.

The only good thing about being a hairy beast is that it always gives me a valid excuse to try new hair removal accoutrements.

One such miracle of hair removal is Neutrogena Rainbath Shower & Shave ($7.50) body wash. It’s a combination body wash and shave liquid with aloe vera to soften and moisturize skin.

I’m in love with the fragrance. The bottle claims it’s “marine scented,” but I think it smells like towels, fresh from the dryer, mixed with lemons and a dash of soap — refreshing and clean, and it totally wakes me up when I use it in the morning.

As a shave gel it works great. It’s not as thick or rich as gels like Gillette Satin Care Alluring Avocado; consequently, it doesn’t clog my beloved Venus Embrace razor, and with it I get really close shaves.

No nicks, razor burn or bumps, either, after I’m done hacking off my fur — nothing but smooth, soft skin that feels moisturized and smells fresh.

And it’s totally fab as a shower gel, too, rinsing quickly and never leaving a thick or heavy film.

Neutrogena Rainbath Shower and Shave Body Wash

Price: $7.50 for a 8.5-fl oz. bottle
Use: A combination body wash and shave gel
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

At $7.50, it’s a bit pricey for a drugstore shower gel, but you get a reasonable amount of product for the price. It works out to less than $1 per liquid ounce. Not bad at all. Plus, it multi-tasks and smells great. Keep an eye out for it on your next trip to Rite Aid.

Yea! We made it to Friday! 🙂 Today is my official day off from my day job at the literary agency. I was tempted to sleep the day away, but I told myself I had to get something productive done no matter what.

This morning I listened to some music on Pandora and found a new artist I like named Joy Denalane. I’m really feeling this song:

Doesn’t it make you feel all fierce and positive?

Hope you’re having a great day so far. Got any plans for the weekend?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Wow, totally unrelated, but I’m a recent college grad and I’m looking for a job either in publishing or at a literary agency, and I’m finding that it’s a really tough market for these industries. How did you land that job???

    Hi Jenna,

I think it had to do with a number of factors. The agency needed somebody with solid admin and writing skills and I happened to have experience in both areas. After I landed the gig, my boss mentioned a few months later that she really liked the cover letter I sent with my resume (she remembered it because it was funny, I reckon), and that I was outgoing and chatty during the interview. I didn’t know anybody in publishing when I landed this job so part of it was also timing and luck, as well.

If you really want to get into the field consider getting your foot through the door as an assistant. You’ll learn everything from the ground up and get a solid grasp of what agents actually do from day to day. 🙂 Hope this helps!

    Hi Karen.

I’ve been so busy with my new job and the fam…not to mention I started school up again. I’ve still been lurking when I can but can’t really comment like I used to all the time. 🙂 I just laughed when I saw the poster that I had to let you know. Have a great weekend!!

Haha, you’re so hilarious! I have a very rough day today and you make me laugh. Thanks Karen!

I need to check this Neutrogena product out. I’m a fan of the original Rainbath and Costco sells them in those giant bottles. I never finish any of the shampoos, conditioners or body washes in such big containers at all. Have you ever used their body oil? One of my friends who is a guy is a big fan of it.
