Dior Fall 2010, Clinique Fall 2010, Keanu Reeves and Bobbi Brown Chocolate & Navy

July 10th, 2010 by Karen 49 Comments

Can you spot a friendly neighborhood beauty addict?

Evenin’, ladies. Just wanted to say hola and share a few pics from my adventures this afternoon. After the museum we swung by the mall, and now I desperately need your help. I’m struggling to exercise restraint here at Nordstrom, where I’ve got my eye on a Dior palette that’s taking every ounce of willpower to resist (I told myself I’d only get one thing, and that thing is NOT this)!

Maybe this in-store mobile blogging break will distract me. 🙂

Here are some pics I took with my phone today. Sorry if a few of them aren’t as sharp as usual.

Columns in front of the Legion of Honor

Rockin’ messy, beachy waves

I could have stared at this painting for hours…

WOOO! Double rainbow all the way across the sky!!

Um, doesn’t this guy look EXACTLY like Keanu Reeves?

A bunch of fall collections are out on Nordstrom’s counters now… I just peeped stuff from Dior, Clinique and Bobbi Brown — it’s all so blasted tempting, grrr!

Dior Fall 2010

Hello, temptation!

Clinique Fall 2010

Bobbi Brown Chocolate & Navy Collection

So far I’ve only snagged a bottle of Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Corrector ($50). Have you tried it? LOVE this stuff. This one’s my second bottle; I scraped the first one totally clean. It breaks up dark spots, evens out my skin tone and has a cool side effect of clearing up my pimples, which I don’t think it’s even designed to do.

I better wrap this up before El Hub gets back from the Apple Store. Hope you had a great afternoon. I’ll reconnect soon. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I have actually purchased that clinique eye brightening mascara and it makes the whites of my eyes whiter. so i guess it works. cause it’s blue black. i also bought the intense coffee eyeliner and i loves it so so so much.

I did purchase and finished one bottle of the Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector but I will not repurchase it. Unfortunately I don’t think it lightened any of my sunspots or acne scars. 🙁 I did like the texture and it was my first serum so it was a nice introduction but like with all skincare products you win some you lose some. At least it didn’t break me out! (I’ve heard horror stories from other people). Any other suggestions you have for a skincare product that helps to lighten acne scars and sunspots? Btw I’m around NC25-30 so my marks are pretty evident…when I used to live in Hawaii I was definitely an NC35-37 in high school and I didn’t notice these marks as much *sigh*.

Hi Karen! Were they having a fashion shoot at the museum? It looks like it with the woman in the red gown. I can see why you could stare at that beautiful painting. I could totally see a cosmetics firm designing a color collection around that painting. Beautiful, beautiful! I’m trying so hard to not spend so much on cosmetics, but that BB collection has got me on the fence. It’s such a good value! The Dior brown set I could recreate with some colors I already have. The center color looks a lot like Nars Mekong, which j’adore!

It’s been a long SLOW road to getting my life back in an assemblence of order, so I’ll try better to not become a stranger again.

SO Envious of all the culture you have so close at hand…..that and having a local NORDSTROM store=LUCKY in my book……alas, I have to wait until spring 2011 for the NORDSTROMS to open here…..oh the HORROR of my paychecks, once that happens….LOL!

Love BOTH paintings…….definately Keannu posed for that….maybe by taking the PHONE BOOTH time machine, perhaps?

Love both Dior quads…..I have to admit, I don’t own ANY Dior eyeshadows (please, no stone throwing,…)Maybe this fall is the time to BREAK that trend?

I *LUV* the Strawberry Fudge and Blackberry Frost collections from Clinique….Me thinks a counter visit is in my NEAR future.

Oh, how I wish that Bobbi Brown was available near me…..I could do some *SERIOUS* damage, FUR SURE!!

Happy Sunday and here’s to more DOUBLE RAINBOWS!!!

I read everyday, but never comment. I love your blog!! I tried Clinique’s Even Better Spot Correcter, but I didn’t like it. It crumbled on my skin, and didn’t really help my spots. I prefer Bliss Peeling Serum, and Peter Thomas Roth 10% Glycolic Peel. Have you tried either one? Also, have you tried any of the products from the Origins line? I was curious about the new(ish) eye cream. It’s in an orange pot, and it’s supposed to help with dark circles and puffiness. It’s just under $30 and would be a lifesaver!

Are you talking about the GinZing eye cream? I’ve been using it for several months and it’s no different than any other eye creams. Doesn’t do anything for dark circles but it’s very moisturizing!

Yes, and thank you. I was on the fence with that one. I’ve just been using my regular moisturizer all over my face and neck. My dark circles aren’t as bad when I’m eating properly and drinking enough water, but anything extra that may help would be nice.

      Hi Alicia,

I haven’t tried either the Bliss or the PTR Peel. Have you noticed a big difference in your skin?

As for the Origins Cream, I do like GinZing, but I use it mostly to prep my eyes for concealer. It has a subtle pinkish shimmer that adds a subtle radiance to the under eye area, which can help temporarily mask the appearance of dark circles. I don’t think it’s a permanent fix, though.

I love both Bliss and Peter. I tried Bliss first, then went to PTR because it was a little cheaper. They both make you wake up with a glow. It takes about a week or two to notice a difference. There’s a slight tingle to both, but I don’t mind.

I guess I’ll try GinZing. It isn’t too expensive. Thanks for the reply.

Hi guys! The BB Chocolate & Navy special set at Nordie’s was definitely on their website a couple of days ago, because I almost ordered it! Checking back again today, it’s gone. I’m guessing that they sold out the pre-orders online already, so they took it off their site!

I love the Dior palettes! I see the eyeliners from Clinique are new – but are any of the other products? I recognize all the eyeshadows from their permanent line. In fact, I’ve been using Strawberry Fudge, Beach Plum, & Like Mink for years! I’m also really curious about the whitening mascara.

Was there a wedding party taking pictures outside the museum? That was my first thought when I saw the dudes in white and the lady with the dress. 🙂

The liner and the mascara are new and LE. Regarding the mascara — the MUA said the magic is from the color. It’s blueish black, which is supposed to make the whites of the eyes look whiter.

And yup, that’s a wedding party. There were four of them while we were there! The museum is a very popular place to take pictures.

Awesome! I’ll have to check out that mascara. Although I am hooked on tinting my eyelashes (blue black) and I’ll have to pay more attention next time I do it to see if it makes the whites of my eyes more whiter! I didn’t even think about that effect.

Definitely going to hit up my local Clinique counter for those eyeliners!

I loved your Museum look and I also use to hang out at the Legion of Honor a lot. I think the last exhibit I went to was YEARS ago – Toulouse-Lautrec.
