Sephora and Tarte Team Up to Release Tarte Beauty in a Box: Bronze Smokey Eyes, Rejoice!

tarte beauty in a box bronze smoky eye swatches review

Wonder Twin makeup powers, activate!Wonder Twin powers, activate!

Tarte and Sephora recently did just that — activating their Wonder Twin makeup powers to form the new Beauty in a Box Bronze Smokey Eye Kit ($45).

The six-piece limited edition kit comes with products in bronze, nude and purple, with four full-size items (the Lock & Roll Creasless Cream Shadow and Loose Powder in Burnt Bronze, EmphasEYES Waterproof Clay Shadow/Liner in Plum, Rise & Shine Lip Gloss and Stain in Nude, and the Clean Slate Natural Face Primer) and two deluxe minis (Park Ave Princess Mineral Powder Bronzer; and Lights, Camera, Splashes Waterproof Mascara).

The only things missing? Brushes and your imagination. 🙂

Great for looks either dressed up or dressed down (like a great pair of jeans!), the Bronze Smokey Eye Kit has mad skillz and flexibility. With it today I did a day-friendly look to run some errands around town, but I could have turned up the heat using the same products to do something a little more dramatic. I think that’s the beauty of this kit.

Shades like the ones here — natural bronzes and purples — are right up my alley, but what do you think? Would you wear the colors in Tarte Beauty in a Box?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. How’s it going tonight? I’m just about to take my shower and get ready for bed, but not before I watch an episode of Drop Dead Diva with Tabs.

I’m seemingly on an eternal hunt for the perfect bronze, smudgy eyeliner. I’m super pale but also half-Japanese, so I’ve got undertones like I’ve never seen on anyone. The right bronze is great, but the wrong bronze is oh-so wrong. How warm/cool is this one, would you say?

      Hi Julia,

Are you asking about the Plum liner or the Bronze Lock & Roll? If you want a bronze liner the Lock & Roll might not be your best bet…

And OMG, Karen, the Wonder Twins? This is why I love your blog. It literally made my day since, believe it or not, I was just reminiscing with a friend about the Wonder Twins recently (and about the fact that I had Superfriends curtains in my room as a kid). But I digress….

Nope, it’s pretty darn great… it breaks down to about $7.50 per piece. The full-sized Clean Slate Primer is usually $30 alone.

Hmm…purple & bronze? I would have never thunk it… I will have to try that at home withOUT the kit. The price is killing me here…

I just got a starter kit from Tarte from qvc. It had the gel liner in black + 2sided (liner/smudger) brush, full size lights, camera, lashes!, mini size frosty pink cheek tint/blush, and full size beige/tuape eyeshadow for $26! The mascara itself was $19 and the gel liner is $22 for a full size (this was a bit smaller) so it was a winner!

      Hi Ru,

Yeah, $45 is a lot, but you do get quite a few full-sized items. It breaks down to about $7.50/piece, which isn’t bad for Tarte.

Your starter kit sounds fabulous, btw. How are you liking the Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara?

Oh Karen! I can sing you a song about it! t I reeeallllyy like it (can you tell?!). I love that it holds a curl without my curler (makes work mornings easier), it doesn’t make my lashes crispy/flaky. It’s easy to take off, and I can rock it with no eye makeup (for that natural flirty lash look). It’s a bit clumpy upon application, but that goes away later and can be avoided by wiping down with a tissue. I bought 2 more since tarte is having the F&F sale for $11.90 a pop!

I think it’s a great set for those who are new to the brand, like moi!

I wish more makeup brands would come up with such value sets all the time, and not only for special occasions, etc. 😉

I love Tarte and I’ve been eyeing those cream shadow/liners. I’ve used the bronzer & primer before and they’re excellent! I’m really surprised they didn’t throw in one of their signature cheek stains in this set – somehow doesn’t seem “complete” without it.

      Hey Redhead,

That might be an issue with my skin… mine tends to bring out blues/purples. It may look more bronze on you.

I ADORE their lock n rolls. The only complaint I have is that the powder shadow doesn’t always roll out smoothly. But the colors are amazing and I love that the cream shadow does not crease without primer. I will definitely buy this… if hubby will let me.

A few women have mentioned that issue. You could always roll it onto the back of your hand first, and then pick up the product with an eyeshadow brush to apply to your lids! I know that kinda defeats the purpose of convenience, but it might be an option for days when you have a little more time.

Does your skin do well with silicones? Clean Slate contains silicones and has that slippery, tell-tale silicone feel to it.
