Have You Met Davines Love Shampoo and Conditioner?

September 30th, 2010 by Karen 17 Comments

“Oh, Davines Shampoo! I’d love to love to LOVE YOU! I’d love to love to LOVE YOU! Oh, Davines Shampoo!”

Oh, come over, girl! Just for a second. There’s someone here you just HAVE to meet. Jane, this is Davines Love Shampoo. Love Shampoo, this is Jane. He’s visiting from Italy and staying at drugstores and salons here in the U.S.

I know! Isn’t he handsome?

But — sorry! — he’s attached, wouldn’t you know it? And here comes his better half now…

Love Conditioner, this is Jane. Jane, Love Conditioner.

Yeah, both of them are priced in the Bumble & Bumble range, and the entire line of products hover around $22 each.

Yikes! I know, right?

I’ve partied with their cousins, LOVE Shampoo and Conditioner for Wavy & Curly Hair ($22 each). Ah, the memories… They were totally into kinky stuff, you know, curly and wavy hair, shh! 🙂

I’ll never forget the way they smelled, too, like yummy oranges. OOH! And I loved how they made my waves so bouncy and defined. HAWT!

Unforch, my locks were still a touch frizzy afterward. Yeah, I don’t think the conditioner and I ever really hit it off. It refused to untangle my knots.

Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: I’d love to love to love love the Davines shampoo and conditioner line, but both could be better at untangling knots and dealing with frizz. I do love the way they smell, though, and I wish that partying with them wasn’t so expensive. Available at drugstores, Davines salons and online at barneys.com. Grade: B-

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I know this is not the caption contest, but I just have to say:

    Photo #1: AARRRRGGGGHHHHHH! IT BURNS!!!!!!!
Photo #2: Did you hear me, woman? I said “it burns”. (She’s not taking it away. Sigh… at least she’s home).

    🙂

I saw this in a magazine a long time ago. His line does look good and the ingredients looks nice, except a cone or two. I have on my list the one for curly hair and the green tub one. How thick is the conditioner can it double as a hair mask? And Tabs looks so cute.

I’ve heard of this Davine’s before and I do love the citrus smell. I haven’t tried it on my hair but still curious enough to buy it.

I have used a Davine’s shampoo and conditioner and we did not mix well.

    My. Scalp. Got. HIVES. HIVES!!!!!!!!

I mean, there was a serious migraine as well, but I never had hives on my scalp until then. I knew I was sensitive to hops before I tried the Davine’s I tried, but that definitely moved it into the allergy list.

LOL, that first photo makes my whole day ^^ Thanks for posting the review, Karen — and especially for including the ingredients! Full lists can be a huge PITA to find online, and seeing as I’m avoiding silicones (they break me out) and parabens (my sister’s allergic, and we share our shower stuff,) I definitely have to find those lists before buying.

P.S. Hope you’re having an okay time settling back into life on this side of the pond! It’s not gorgeous glitz and glamour, but it’s home, right? 🙂

I loved the way davines worked on my hair…but it was short lived. I too started to break out in hives. It took me awhile to realize it was the shampoo. I used melu, momo, nounou and even the natural tech.

Eventually I ended up at the dermatologist 90.00 for the visit, 20.00 for the special shampoo and 70.00 for the clobex spray!!! Yikes. I have started using Loreal’s sulfate free rosemary mint shampoo and conditioner along with the medications from the dermatologist. Problem seems to better. My salon is going to let me exchange the davines products for something else.

It is unfortunate because davines did make my hair look amazing, but it was not worth the burning scalp!
