Does Estee Lauder Nail Lacquer in Extravagant Pearl Score a Base Hit?

October 20th, 2010 by Karen 13 Comments

Whether in beauty or baseball, no one bats a thousand, not even Estee Lauder (GO, GIANTS!).

Of their two new holiday nail polishes, I’m totally into sparkly purple Extravagant Night ($18), but frosty champagne Extravagant Pearl just isn’t a base hit for me.

Looking at it on my nails, I’m not seein’ beautiful bubbly. More like — sorry, EL — coagulated leftover oatmeal.

But I give it points for being easier to work with than Extravagant Night. It has a thinner consistency and applies more evenly, but it also takes light years to dry. Heck, I could walk the bases 10 times blindfolded with my shoelaces tied together in the time it takes to dry.

Yeah, not really feelin’ this one…

I have never really rated EL nail polishes – one i got was a big gloopy mess and the other a gift for my birthday looked gorgeous in the bottle but was practically clear on application

They’re hit or miss. I’ve liked a few, but this one isn’t my fave.

I love the color, but not feeling the long drying time. With a baby, my nails need to dry in like 1 minute or I’m screwed. lol

I’m amazed that you have time to paint your nails. You go!

Hmm.. doesn’t do much for me either, I think it would look like my nails died on my pale skin 🙁

I bet the other shade would look cute on you! It’s purple, sparkly and much more inspiring.

Aww, that’s too bad. Especially the fact that it takes forever to dry. I get what you’re saying about how it looks, but I think I kind of like it. It reminds me of frosting, kind of.

That’s a shame because it looks like it has so much potential. You’re right though, the clumping kills it (not to mention the dry time). Sad, since it’s such a pretty color.
