MAC Makeup: Limited Edition Mattene Lipsticks, Matte 2 Shadows, Liquidlast liners

September 18th, 2007 by Karen 14 Comments

When I dream of makeup this is what it looks like…
mac-mattene-matte2-fussy-tabby-fina

Two things you need to put into your Crackberry calendar ASAP:

September 27, 2007: MAC’s Limited Edition Mattene lipsticks, Matte 2 Shadows and Liquidlast liners drop today. Remember the 90’s? Mattes are baaaaaaack.

September 19, 2007: Talk like a pirate day. Do ye want ta walk the plank? Or do ye want ta be denied the pirate booty? Ye shall talk like a pirate all day long, argggh!

You know you’re getting older when you see teenagers wearing what you used to wear in high school 15 years ago, and when frickin MATTE MAKEUP comes back in style again. I can’t wait…I may just dig up my plaid shirt and listen to some Pearl Jam today.

How do you feel about mattes? Love? Hate? Discuss. (Extra points if you can do it pirate style.)

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Man, the release date used to be the 20th (exciting!!), but now everything is coming out the 27th. Of course, some people already scored stuff from the PRO store, haha.

(How tempted am I to go to the PRO store tomorrow before Dita to swatch for the blog?! It’s close…relatively, isn’t it?)

SF is only 7 miles by 7 miles, so technically it’s not far. However, there’s always traffic to contend with at that time, which is always a crap shoot.

I go back and forth between loving the mattes. Give me glitter, dammit!

You’re hilarious, I’m totally feeling the 90’s vibe from Matte2 & Mattene too!

Yarr, Avast Ye! the besty part of Mattene is the Semi Matte formula so we can have a luscious pout without flakey flappers. Shiver me timbers! 😀

Well, I meant walking distance more than anything, haha. Macy’s is in Union Square, PRO store is in Union Square, right? Ahh, well…

I think the mattes are a “we’ll see” collection – hopefully MAC pulls it off!

JANICE! lol, you crack me up! arrghh!

Did you have a MAC matte lipstick of choice back in the day? I can’t even count how many tubes of Paramount I went through between 1993-1997. Lipgloss/glitter/any form of sparkle was like a foreign country.

And I hope that the new Semi-matte formula delivers; I can’t stand to have dried out lips, bah!

Christine, do you have your Pro store list yet? I think most of mine will consist of Paint Pots and Creme stick liner. I’m so boring…

Hey Temi! Thank you for stoppin’ by. 🙂

Ya know, I have yet to try Liquidlast liners (I’m a Fluidline kinda girl). I have a friend who swears by them though. Do you use them? What do you think?

I have a basic idea, no 100% list. Speaking of which, I need to call the PRO store to see if they have some stuff in stock (so I can plan for how broke the trip is going to make me!) yet.

Did you ever pick up a few paint pots or will these be the new ones?

I love cremestick liners! My faves. So much softer than a pencil (same reason why I adore technakohls – plus, NO sharpening!).

BTW, liquidlasts are great if you want something totally permanent, and they come in all sorts of cool colors. Those things do not BUDGE. Fluidline can smear and smudge, but liquidlast will go through a war before it fades. The brush that comes with them is awful, too cumbersome and generally difficult for lining purposes. I remember Louise used the 266 when she applied it to the model’s lids at SF.

Woo, I wish I wear make-up in the 90s. Oh well, I am looking forward to the smoother mac version!!

Apple Diva, honestly, there were some HARD TIMES in the 90s without glitter. And I remember my Paramount lipstick always leaving my lips dry.

Christine, nope, I never picked up those paint pots, which is why I am still lusting after them. GOOD THING I refrained from buying them on the nordstrom site that night.

I went to the MAC counter to day to buy some brush cleaner and I did a thorough inspection of the cremestick liners on hand. I want Beurre and Amber Ember right now. AND WHERE HAVE TECHNAKOHLS been all my life! This is a new phase in my eyelining pursuits, ha ha ha!

I am excited to try the liquidlast. Maybe I’ll try them with the 209!

Ahhh! Gotta try stuff in person 😉

I love Pink Treat. It’s my everything liner. I also have Cranapple and Summerfruit – nice ones, just use them less often. I’m lucky as color never bleeds on me so lip liner is a bonus not a necessity. Pink Treat has lasted me QUITE awhile, though, which is great.

I love the technakohls, even if I only have Graphblack. I just… love me some black liner.

209! Let me know how that works!
