Seeing the Dior Montaigne Soft Pink Design All-In-One Artistry Palette in Action

Today I took the brand spankin’ new Dior Soft Pink Design All-In-One Artistry Palette ($58) from the Dior Montaigne spring 2011 collection out for a spin using the little tutorial that comes with the palette as a guide…

I love it when products come with these things (sending positive reinforcement to all the companies out there) because they make looks as easy as 1-2-3.

A few quick notes on the palette:

  • The gray shadow in the upper left corner of the palette isn’t all that gray at all. I think’s it looks more purplish mauve on my NC35 skin, and I like that about it.
  • The glittery shadows exhibit very little fallout. Both the shine and base shadows (upper right and lower left, respectively) contain oodles of shimmer/glitter, yet they still adhere really well to my skin.
  • The base shadow is easy to apply with fingers. The way it feels reminds me of the creamy shadows in the Chanel Ombres Perlees de Chanel Eyeshadow Palette, and I think when I apply it with my fingers, I get a smoother, more uniform layer of color than when I apply it with a brush.
  • That gray cream liner in the lower left totally rocks! What a nice surprise. Smooth as silk and super pigmented, too, this shade is my favorite thing about the palette. It wears well along both my lash and waterlines.
  • Applying the gray and pink shadows in (the ones in the center) with a wet brush head really amplifies the colors. I used a MAC 239 spritzed with MAC Fix+ and like the result.

It’s too blasted expensive, so it loses big points for that, but I find this quint extremely easy to work with. I love the textures and didn’t expect there to be as much pigment as I found. If you can get past the price and want to get an early start on spring with an eye palette in soft pink, gray and mauve, consider Dior’s sassy Soft Pink Design.

I LOVE the colors!! Definitely looks like nice warm spring colors. That being said, with the victoria secret’s semi-annual sale and other deals… I may have to pass on it for I am broke as a joke.

I wasn’t sure if I’d be feeling this at first because of the sheerness, but I ended up really liking the colors, too.

What did you get at the semi-annual sale? That reminds me, I need to stock up on some jammies.

Okay, now that I’ve seen this in a FOTD, I’m liking it a LOT more! The soft pink/mauve/grey thing it has going on looks really lovely on you 🙂

This is definitely a great look for spring 🙂 My makeup has been so minimal lately that it’s practically nonexistent (I choose the extra 5 minutes of sleep over doing my makeup). You’re getting me in the mood for a spring EOTD though! Maybe this weekend…

Ya know, so do I. I know a lot of people think they’re too shimmery but that’s what I dig about them.

I actually was hoping it’d be a little bit more grey — as someone with really fair skin, anything too pink makes me look a little sickly, at least in my opinion. It looks fantastic on you, though!

Oh this is too pinky for me, too, and so expensive! I am really curious about this paletes though, with the cream liner. Haven’t got now one where I would splurge money for…

This looks really good on you 🙂 You look all ready for Spring. I’m a little envious how you guys have all the new Spring collections already but it’s snowing heavily outside here so Spring feels so far away.

In Norway, Dior quints are like 12 times the USD price (exchange rate is only 6) – so I don’t think I will ever get a Dior quint.

Spring feels REALLY far away here too. It’s relatively mild compared to the rest of the world, but it’s cold for California!

It really is pretty and I love the liner on you. It looks great. I can’t wear any on my waterlines or I’m a weepy clown in about 6 seconds, but you are rockin’ it! 🙂

I’m also glad you used the Panthera mascara because just thinking of that tube makes me smile!!

Every time I grab that tube I swear the ears poke the heck out of my fingers. Have you tried it yet? You need to!!

I haven’t! I’d probably have mascara all the way up to my eyebrows because I’d be so giggly about the tube while applying it! 🙂 I may give it a whirl when I’m done with my Faux Cils but, then again, Hypnose has been calling me back. I’m really a mascara monogamist at heart. I can’t help thinking about a Dior Show sample though. hee hee!

How does the texture compare to the Dior Five Golds quint? I loved that one, but have been disappointed by some of Dior’s other quints (like Sunset Cafe) which seem like drugstore shadows. Soft Pink quint looks sort of like Five Golds in pictures in that it has an ethereal glow on the skin.
