Seeing the World Through Sephora Lash Plumper Mascara

When you smile with your eyes, try it while wearing the subject of today’s guest post from Kris.

Sephora Lash Plumper Mascara

When it came to my attention that Sephora Beauty Insiders got a free gift on their birthday, the first thing I did was shout “FREE GIFT!” The second thing I did was get myself down to my local Sephora on my bday to collect.

I received a nice little set with a mini-eyeliner, mascara and eyeshadow. The mascara looked promising, but I wasn’t holding out the highest hopes because I have high standards when it comes to mascaras, and I want the ones I use to lengthen and create volume at the same time (the spider-leg-look doesn’t appeal to me). I don’t like flaking, smudging, or wet/runny formulas at all, and I don’t want them to be so hard to remove that I have to wash my eyes three times in a row. I can’t stand that.

It had seemed to me that I would never find my mascara mate. That was, until my birthday date with Sephora Lash Plumper mascara.

The first things I noticed were the wand and brush head. I’d been using Covergirl Lashblast Fusion and hated the bulky head. Sephora’s has your normally slender wand style with a typical volumizing head — and not with the gel-like bristles that most mascaras have nowadays. This brush tapers off at the tip, which makes it ideal for getting into corners. As for the packaging, it’s no-nonsense, no frills or flash, but that doesn’t bother me in the least.

Sephora Lash Plumper Mascara

After examining the wand and brush, I checked the formula. It’s absolutely perfect! It’s never dripping wet (like Lancome Hypnose Drama) nor bone dry (like Covergirl Lashblast Volume), and it doesn’t fall off in gobs at the tip.

When it came time for the true test, application, I gave my lashes a quick coat and then went over them, wiggling the brush until I was happy with my look.

Lash Plumper separates my lashes just enough and lengthens them a touch. Would I call them “plumper”? Well, not really. After applying I still see some spacing between the lashes that Covergirl Lashblast Fusion would have filled, but I can happily live with that thanks to how much I just like the way Lash Plumper makes my lashes look: lovely. You can see how it lengthens and volumizes just enough without creating that spidery, overly separated look.

Sephora Lash Plumper mascara also lasts through the day, at least 8-10 hours, without flaking, smudging or causing raccoon-ish features, yet it’s still easy to remove. I give it four (4) out of five (5) stars, simply because I don’t feel it’s as “plumping” and volumizing as it claims.

But I think it’s safe to say that Lash Plumper delivers most of my “demands.” I’m completely happy with it and plan to pick up the full-size version when I’ve finished my free birthday treat. It’s sold at Sephora stores and online at sephora.com and retails for $12 (available in black and brown).

If you’ve tried Sephora Lash Plumper mascara before, what did you think?

I was surprised to find that I really liked this mascara too- got a free sample of it that I thought I’d just chuck because sephora brand mascaras are usually awful. But this one lengthens and volumizes with out clumping beautifully.

This is so funny- I just tried it today from my Sephora birthday gift. I loved the brush and the formula. My favorite is YSL Faux Cils- but this may become my second favorite- esp with the price!

Interesting, I think I got Sephora’s Atomic Volume mascara in my birthday gift. I haven’t used this particular tube yet, but I’ve tried it before and it’s nothing to write home about.

I have the same gripe about Lancome’s Hypnose Drama! I LOVE the way it makes my lashes look, but the formula is so wet and I have to run a comb through my lashes several times to get rid of the clumps… Boo.

I might have to try this at some point. Now I cant wait until my birthday in March. I just bought the Dior sampler that has the mini Diorshow and Blackout. I hate buying full size mascaras because I never finish them before they dry out. (Which means I keep them way past their intended shelf life!)

Great review and as Kayann said, I love how your eyes are done in the pics. 🙂

I got this in the birthday gift too, and really liked it. I probably won’t repurchase it though, because as much as I liked it, I’m all about drugstore mascaras so I can splurge on other high end items.

I totally agree about the consistency of this mascara – not too dry, not too wet, just right. And the price is great!
If only the staying power was better on me.

This looks like a great product. Reiterating the previous comments – natural, yet visible, results!

I had the same problem trying to find a good thickening mascara. I have found my soulmate however in Maybelline’s The Falsies mascara. You can read my review here: http://bit.ly/g1J9Ek

I like the Sephora mascara. I got some last year in my birthday treat from Sephora. It’s much nicer than the Chanel mascara I got which really glops on. Lesson learned, just because it costs a lot doesn’t mean it’s any good!
