Estee Lauder Is Wild About Violets: The Wild Violet Makeup Collection for Spring 2011

January 21st, 2011 by Karen 25 Comments

I swung by the mall yesterday on my way to get my bangs trimmed and snuck in some swatches of these beautiful Wild Violets (Estee Lauder’s limited edition collection for spring). 🙂

Available now on counters and online, the collection features coppery neutrals, trendy grays and purples for eyes and nails; and adventurous corals, reds, pinks and violets for lips.

What do you think about the selection of lip colors here? Shown together, don’t they seem to make a certain summery sense?

What do ya think about these, and what do you think about Estee Lauder in general? Where does it rate in terms of your favorite brands?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Oh, would ya look at that. It’s Friday. 🙂

Okay, I am LOVING the look of the Wild Violet quint, and pretty much all of the glosses. I’ve always vaguely liked (or at least, not *dis*liked) Estee, but they’ve really been picking up their game since hiring Tom Pecheux!

The pop of taupe in that palette is pretty and unexpected. 🙂

I’m totally with you on their color line getting REALLY interesting in the last year.

Oh wow! It seems like all the companies are doing a purple/lavender collection for spring. Which is GREAT because I love purple! Thanks so much Karen!
I might have to check out the palette in Extravagant Pure color!!

Purple and gray are the belles of the ball this spring. 🙂

I bet you’ll go crazy with the new Lancome stuff! It’s SUPER purple!

Saw this last week, swatched it and thought it was gorgeous, but walked away thinking I don’t need it Tracy. But I went back the next day for it and have been wearing it ever since! I just love it.I also got the Untamed VIolet pencil, but I want to go back and get the WIld Violet lipstick too.
EL is becoming one of my fave brands. It used to be so old lady, but they’ve really stepped up their game!
I’m excited for tonight because Being Human starts tonight here! And An Idiot Abroad too!

First Lancome, now Estee Lauder – it seems purple is big for Spring! The Extravagant Pure Colour Palette is to die for and the colours all really complement each other.

I bought this last week and have been wearing it ever since! Also got the pencil. Now I want the Wild Violet lipstick! EL has stepped up their game. I used to think of them as an old lady brand, but not any more.

What do you think of the pencil, Tracy? Have you tried it on your waterline let?

It’s a little light on the waterline-you have to really pile it on to see it. It works really nice on the bottom lash line and lasts all day without smudging.

gorgeous! i was hoping for a bit more purples/violets (can you tell it’s my favourite colour? :p), but everything looks so pretty… especially the pure color lipsticks!

Looks like I’ll be getting both shadow palettes and the coral lip products! Gorgeous.

Estee Lauder is not a brand I’ve ever really paid attention to. It always struck me as being a bit too “old lady” and conservative. But, since the Blue Dahlia collection their eye shadow palettes have been amazing!

I don’t know too much about EL but this palette says Easter to me. That’s definitely a positive for spring. Definitely because of the purples and golds. And Yippee! that it’s Friday. 🙂

Love all the purples this Spring! I have a soft spot for purple looks since they are so complementary for very dark brown (almost black) eyes. I haven’t tried EL in a loooooong time but I used to use a concealer and mascara from the brand exclusively during my twenties (pre-MAC).

Wow the single Wild Violet looks GORG. I think i’m having deja vu though, I’m purple eyeshadow addict ( I love to pop those baby browns yo!), how close is this shade to the urban decay shadows? I’m thinking this looks a lot like freak show?

So pretty. I LOVE Estee Lauder. Double Wear foundation is my favorite foundation of all time. Speaking of new releases, have you tried their new Sumptuous Extreme mascara? It’s to die for, probably my new favorite!

The coral lipstick & gloss hues are GORG. I’m just a little disappointed with all the purple & pastel this spring: I just can’t work it, at all. I seriously look so school girlish when I attempt it.

I love the purples that all companies are coming out with. However, the colors seem dupable with the MAC that I have. The only thing that I might get is the purple eye pencil.
