The Sonia Kashuk Brush Couture Limited Edition Flat Top Blush/Powder Brush Is Dressed for Success

March 18th, 2011 by Karen 26 Comments

Sonia Kashuk Brush Couture Flat Top Multipurpose Blush Powder Brush

Oh, just gazing at this brush makes me happy. 🙂 Isn’t the tile print on Sonia Kashuk’s new Sonia Kashuk Brush Couture Flat Top Multipurpose Blush/Powder Brush ($11) adorable? It’s going to look so cute sitting on my vanity.

But good looks aren’t the only thing this limited edition brush has going for it. It also flawlessly applies loose powders, bronzers, and cream and powder blushes, too, just like Sonia’s legendary Synthetic Flat Top Brush. The big difference between the two is just that these bristles are made of natural fibers (I’m not sure what kind).

This brush head really does it for me; it’s wide enough to fit perfectly on the apples of my cheeks, yet still small enough to reach into the corners around my nose, mouth and chin. Even the handle is a perfect size for me. From end to end, the entire brush is a little over 6 inches long.

And the $11 price is right. If you see this at Target, seriously, snatch it up if you can. I wouldn’t be surprised if it sells out fast.

PRICE: $11
AVAILABILITY: Available now at select Target stores

OHH must have! I remember when I read your post on the SK bent liner brush, I bought it and absolutely loved it. I’m sensing it’s going to happen again with this one… gahh I love that handle!

Oh. Bummer, I just looked at these yesterday and again today. But got the synthetic one instead. Now I wish I would have gotten both. But I did find the elusive SK large powder brush. 🙂

Did you see the SK Blink of an Eye eyeshadow and liner set? I’m wondering if it’s good.

Does the synthetic brush come with the pattern, too, or just this?

Oooh, this brush looks interesting. Have you tried using it to apply powder blush much? I need a new brush for applying blush (only powder), and I was planning on stopping by Target for the Sonia Kashuk duo fibre brush… but now I’m torn between that one and this one 🙁 Do you know if it applies pigmented blush maybe too concentrated? Or can this be used to buff them out?

Hi Kiya! I have both of the brushes you mentioned. The duo fibre one is not as dense & a little flimsy. I mainly use this to highlight my cheekbones & use it for pigmented blushes. The flat top one is dense & I love it for powder blush b/c it fits the apples of my cheeks & it does buff out the blush. I’m sure if you use a light hand for application it wld be fine. 🙂

I just got this brush a week ago and I LOVE it! I use it mainly to apply blush. Its just the right size and it prevents me from over applying (which is what happens when I use larger blush brushes).

I also got the flat shader brush (its the one that has the bamboo handle) for shading in the crease of the eye. That brush is a little rough on the skin though but I must say that it does help with shading. I’m glad I picked it up. It is good for smudging and shading.

I’m debating getting the whole 5 piece couture set now. Check out all the new Sonia Kashuk stuff at her website http://www.soniakashuk.com. It’s easier than searching for her stuff on the Target site.

I saw this at Target when I went down to the states. I was really tempted to buy it but at a closer inspection, I realized the pattern on the handle was printed on (if that made sense). After wards I didn’t feel like buying it anymore. But at first glance it looked really nice and reminds me of the Sigma F80 brush.

I’ve already got the synthetic flat top (thanks to your review), and am looking for a backup. Yup, I will be picking this up, for $11 it’s SO worth it.

Karen, do you have some tips for cleaning this brush?

Hmm, got all excited since the SK synthetic flat top is my favorite brush… but can’t do the natural hair brush as I’m an animal lover & vegetarian.

this is so cute! just got the SK synthetic flat top about a week ago (super-unfashionably-late to the party, i know), and it is my new go-to brush!

how does this compare in terms of the stiffness of the bristles when using the flat-top? e.g., the SK flat top synth has pretty stiff bristles, but natural tends to be softer…is this one strong enough to handle a good buffing, or does it kind of collapse?

    Hi Karen!
I read your review of the legendary flat-top blusher brush (and all the rave reviews on makeupalley) and was so convinced that I went to two different Targets at LEAST three times each (in the span of about 2-3 weeks) in hopes of hunting it down… but no such luck. (I swear it was never even IN stock, the target employees just wanted to torment me… jk! 🙂 ) Just yesterday I found myself there again, and saw this beauty… I was a bit hesitant to buy it because I hadn’t read any reviews on it (I’m that kinda gal…) and it was less expensive (it couldn’t be the same quality then, could it??)but decided to go for it anyway. I don’t own any real makeup brushes so I can’t compare, but let me just say… it was like heaven on my cheeks!!! Oh-so-soft butterfly kisses…. you were right, and I’m so glad you’re here! 🙂

    Thanks!!!
