A Quick Swatch Break with the Benefit Boxed Face Powders and Blushes

March 21st, 2011 by Karen 44 Comments

Today after lunch I swung by Sephora to stock up on a few essentials, namely Laura Mercier Oil-Free Foundation and Benefit Instant Brow (what I’ve been using to fill in my brows), and since I was already there, I figured I’d get some long overdue swatches, too.

Benefit’s boxed blushes ($28 each) come in eight colors. Actually, some are referred to as face powders, and others as blushes. Here are swatches of seven of them (for reference, I’m an NC 35). Thrrob, a flushed light pink, is the one that’s missing. One of the sales associates at Sephora today had said that she thought it was discontinued. Hmm… I’ll check with Benefit and will let you know what I find out.

P.S. Well, looks like we got Monday out of the way. That’s always a good thing. 🙂

I want all of them except Hoola and Dallas (they would be too dark for me). I’ll probably wait until Sephora’s next F&F sale because I’ve spent enough on makeup recently. I should probably use some of it before I buy any more! Thanks for the swatches Karen! Do you take the pictures in the store because the lighting looks really nice… not like ugly fluorescent lights at all!

Me too! But if you mix the bronzer with the highlighter it ends up looking really pretty.

I’m not sure, but I checked around the Benefit website and it’s no longer there. That’s usually a sign that it’s been discontinued. It’s no longer on Sephora’s site either. I did check the Ulta site and it’s still available. If you really love it then you might want to think about stocking up. Here’s a link:

As far as I know, Thrrrob has not been discontinued. You can still buy it on Benefit’s website (www.benefitcosmetics.com) and it’s listed in their Spring 2011 catalog.

Yup, I figured as much. I called the boutique and they said they don’t think it’s going to be discontinued any time soon. I’m still waiting for official word from the company!

Thrrrob and Georgia have both been discontinued in canada. So has bad gal blue! Ad the kitten powders! And all the skin care in preparation for the new line!

I tried Dallas once and it didn’t have any staying power on me, sadly. I do want to check out Bella Bomba – so pretty!

I do have Hoola – I should really play with that one.

Hoola is great, especially for contouring. 🙂

Georgia is still for sale on HSN.com.

I have three of these [actually six, since one of them is the box from several years ago with Dandelion, Hoola & Dallas] and though they’re pricey, they last forever. Hoola is perfect for contouring,

I have all of these and I love each one. Dallas is probably my favorite. I’ve never found another blush quite like it. They’re a little expensive, but they’re so pretty and really do last forever. There was a long period of time when the only blushes I used were Dandelion, Georgia and Dallas. I wore them every day to work and barely made a dent in any of them.

I’m finishing my 2nd box of Dallas- I use it as a bronzer. I’m fair, brown hair, brown eyes, and it gives me the most natural sun-kissed look. I find Hoola to be too brown and “dirty”. I know Dallas looks dark, but it really isn’t- it looks very natural and gives you a nice “day out in the sun” glow. Another thing I really like about Dallas is that it has less shimmer than the others (excluding Hoola). There’s still a bit, but really just the perfect amount. If you want a bit more pink, top it off with Bobbi Brown’s Pale Pink on the apples of your cheeks- very pretty.

Thanks for the tips, Amy! I have a pale buddy who swears by Dallas too. Maybe I’ll get her Bobbi’s blush for her bday…
