Two Ways to Win a Tube of Benefit They’re Real Mascara (Before It Arrives in Stores)

June 9th, 2011 by Karen 448 Comments

  • WINNER: The giveaway is closed now, and the winner is Veronika! Congratulations, Veronika! If you entered but didn’t win this time around, keep trying, and click here to enter any ongoing giveaways before you jet. 🙂

Not the type of gal who likes to wait (neither am I)? Well, here’s your chance to win the newest member of the Benefit team before it launches next month.

Jet black They’re Real mascara promises beyond-belief (ala, “Yes, they’re real. Thank you for asking.”) length, separation, curl hold, volume and lift — basically, the whole shebang if you like big, bold lashes.

I like it, particularly the dark, rich color and multi-function brush. The staggered bristles do seem to help it in the volume department, and the spiky tip is pretty good for detailed work. I think the finished lash look actually resembles the one I get from MAC Studio Fix BoldBlack Mascara — jet black and lightweight, yet it looks thick, with a moderate increase in length, coupled, however, with a slight tendency to relax the curl from my lash curler.

If you’d like to preview a tube before it officially hits stores, read on, Benefit babe!

A Makeup and Beauty Blog Giveaway!

Ready for Benefit brows?

One lucky lady (or gent) will win:

  • One (1) tube of Benefit They’re Real Mascara (a $22 value) before it launches in-stores this July

Two coats leave my lashes looking thick and dark, and it stays put all day long without flaking or smudging. On top of that, it remains easy to remove.

i usually use volumizing and curling mascaras, because my lashes are already very long but they’re extremely stray and not as many of them/as thick as i’d like them.

My poor tree is still growing after years of me forgetting to water it.. lol I just got a little violet that I am hoping with bloom soon.. I love roses only if they really smell like a real rose.. why grow them if they do not?

Thanks so much for the giveaway and happy birthday! In terms of mascara, I normally get the drugstore version because I have tried both expensive and inexpensive mascaras and find that the d.s. version usually works just as well in terms of length, volume, thickness, and curl. My current fav is Maybelline One by One, but I would love to give this one a try.

I think the first mascara I ever bought was Maybelline Great Lash? I still love the green and pink tube but prefer cruelty free make up nowadays.
I used to use L’Oreal mascara, a curling formula that they discontinued. Revlon Lash Fantasy was my preferred brand but I don’t like the new brush on it so I’m looking for a new brand.
I like mascara that is black enough without looking too matte or flat. I also prefer a mascara that curls but if it lengthens or adds volume, even better!

I want the Canucks to win the Stanley Cup!

I love your blog! I have always used two different mascaras on my lashes – the mascaras alternate, but, for some reason, it gives it that extra pop when you use one mascara throughout your upper and lower lashes and then using a different one right at the ends of your top lashes. I like: L’oreal Voluminous and Telescopic and Maybelline Falsies. I would love to try Benefit’s next – your pictures have me sold. Cute packaging, too!

p.s. I want the Canucks to win the Stanley Cup. I’m a big Toronto Maple Leafs fan (born & raised here) and we haven’t even made the playoffs in years so everyone is still excited that another Canadian team is in! Plus, i think Vancouver holds a special place in the heart of Canadians since the Olympics! Hope you get caught up in the spirit when you are there!!! Enjoy your trip!

The first mascara I ever used up was Maybelline’s Volum’ Express Magnum Waterproof Mascara.

I’ve learned that what goes best with my lashes is if the formula is more on the dry side, since I’ve got pretty thin lashes. I’ve already got the length, I usually just look for volume. 😀

It looks good! I am actually learning that I am more looking for extension & separation than for volume in a mascara. I only grab my more volumizing mascara’s on the rare occasion when I really go all out, which doesn’t happen that much anymore, otherwise I definitely do prefer a more natural look.

I”m not really sure if other people have this problem as well, if it’s a rare or common thing..but my right set of eyelashes aren’t as long and full as my left ones. Not sure why! Err. Almost like half the fullness and length =/ I’m not a mascara person but I think it’s highly caused by not finding the right type of mascara for me yet.

However, since I’m a poor college student, I can’t afford to keep purchasing their wonderful mascaras, and now that it is completely dry, I need something new. Also, I’m visiting my brother in the city. Last night, the cat that lives in his apartment made me miss my kitty at home. So I’m shouting out to my kitty Topaz because I miss her and I can’t wait to see her again!!!!!

I’ve been wanting to try this out sooooo bad! Although, admittedly, the brush kind of freaks me out 😛 It’s neat though! Everyone is describing it as lightweight, yet with tons of length & volume, so I’m really hoping that holds true once I get my hands on it.

So I just recently started a new mascara regimen that’s been working wonders for my otherwise stunted and sad asian eyelashes. Thanks to sephora I received a free sample of the diormax eyelash primer and a sample of bad gal lash, the latter of which I really wasn’t very enthusiastic about. Turns out they are great together!! I’ve actually gotten compliments several times because people actually notice I have eyelashes! But my days with eyelashes are numbered since my diormax is quickly vanishing haha…

What a great prize, I honestly cannot remember the first mascara I tried, but I think it may of possibly been one from max factor, I loved it so much I tried to convince myself it didn’t have a life span so it went super clumpy and dry every time I used it!

I tried your suggestion of layering two different mascaras, and it’s great!
