This MAC Sized To Go Eye Makeup Remover Is a Pro

June 7th, 2011 by Karen 41 Comments

When it comes to skincare products, I have commitment issues, and it’s probably one of the many reasons I like the little bottles and jars in MAC Sized to Go.

By shrinking nine products down to 1-oz. in size and setting their prices (almost) accordingly, MAC made the products easier to travel with and try.

Like the $10 Sized to Go Pro Eye Makeup Remover, one of the gentlest, most soothing (it contains cucumber extract) and hydrating eye makeup removers my eyes have ever seen. Unlike many other removers, it neither stings my peepers nor makes me see clouds. And even when I use it to remove makeup along my waterlines, I don’t shed a single tear (a rare thing).

A few drops on a cotton ball take care of everything from light powders to heavy duty stuff like Fluidline and Prolongwear Concealer, all without leaving an oily residue behind. I don’t even have to rinse if off with water, as if it wasn’t awesome enough, and after using it my skin feels clean, hydrated and fresh.

I have a feeling I’ll be reaching for it often, since it’s small enough to hide in a pocket or a small purse.

But like Achilles, every hero has a weakness.

In this case I think it might be waterproof mascara. When I pit it against two layers of Urban Decay Cannonball, it stumbles, but that’s only an issue if you wear waterproof mascara, and if you do, you might consider something like Lancome Bi-Facil ($24) or NYX Eye & Lip Makeup Remover ($8).

I’ve been going through a waterproof Cannonball Combo phase, but I’m sure it won’t last forever. When it does, I can see myself finishing this little bottle and springing for the full size.

If you rarely wear waterproof eye makeup and have dry skin and/or sensitive eyes, keep the $10 MAC Sized to Go Eye Makeup Remover in mind.

PRICE: $10 for a 1-oz. bottle; $18 for the full 3.4-oz. size
AVAILABILITY: Available now at MAC stores, counters and also online

Falling Fluidlines and not-so-fleet feet

Feet are always at risk when you’re addicted to makeup. This morning I accidentally dropped a jar of MAC Fluidline on my right foot, and now I have a nasty bruise, thank you very much, Dark Diversion from Stylishly Yours. Those little glass jars are hella heavy!

mac stylishly yours product shot
Fluidline, meet foot!

Have you ever accidentally dropped any makeup or beauty products on your feet (or any other part of your body, for that matter)? I bet some of the worst offenders are nail polishes and perfumes (OUCH!).

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I never wear waterproof mascara so this remover sounds perfect for me. Plus, I wear contacts so oily eye makeup removers are even more annoying than usual. I’ll probably end up buying every single one of these minis just because they are so cute!

I might consider buying the Fix + and this eye makeup remover from the small sizes. But, are they going to be available online at least or just MAC stores?

Ouch! I dropped my hair straightener on my foot once. That. is a mistake you only make once. If EVER!

I would love to try out the smaller sizes – hate buying the larger size and then finding it doesn’t work for my skin type.

I’ve never dropping anything on my feet, but I did step on my hair straightener, on the highest heat setting D: My foot was numb for about a week!

Once I dropped one of those big, liter size bottles of shampoo on my foot in the shower — that was fun!

This makeup remover sounds nice. I don’t use waterproof mascara so it would probably work well for me.

Those d%*^n jars! Killed my toe once! Polish bottes are evil. I have a nail salon, and we drop then constantly. What doesn’t jamb toes, shatters on the walls and floor!

That’s cool that you have a nail salon! I’m actually looking for a really great base coat. Do you have one to recommend?

Is the Mac makeup remover oil based? I usually use only oil based products on my face since my skin dries up pretty quick (damn you, Neutrogena).

Also I have made spilling nail polish + nail polish remover on my self and the rug a part-time job at this point. Sucks.

Gravity is funny that way, isn’t it? I feel like stuff (especially items with sharp corners) automatically gravitates toward my feet!

I love the travel sized products from MAC!

I was very excited to see travel friendly packs including my beloved cleanse off oil, prep+prime set powder and fix+ on a trip to Malaysia last year. Possibly one of the best things about shopping at MAC at KLCC!

Definitely will be looking for more travel products when I travel next! 😀

I’m definitely keeping this MAC cutie in mind. I don’t wear waterproof mascara, so it may be a winner for me. 🙂 I had a small Bi-Facil, but it did leave my eyes a bit blurry (and greasy feeling), like the other oily liquid removers I’ve used.

I’m sorry about your foot. I’ve dropped things like shampoo and body wash in the shower. Those big, full bottles hurt, too – even if it’s just a graze! 🙂

You might really like this one, then. NO greasy feeling whatsoever!

We haven’t had the chance to catch up on Game of Thrones. You know what occurred to me the other day? Khal Drogo really works his eyeliner. I want to see him in emerald green or teal, LOL!

I think I’ll have to give it a try. I know that leaving any makeup behind is not good for the “fine lines”, so I need a solution. 🙂

You are so right about Drogo. I love him as a casting choice – he’s working the liner and the braided hair, which could be tricky for most men. Btw, he’s the new Conan the Barbarian (you may have mentioned that you knew that already). He sort of reminds me of Lafayette that way. It’s not fair that there are men who can wear liner better than me! And HBO seems to know how to cast them. HAHA!

i love pro makeup remover, b/c it easily removes smudges and mistakes without removing all of your makeup, great for cleaning up smoky eye fallout!!! i use this often to remove my makeup, but it’s true-it does not remove waterproof! especially things like liquidlast…for that cleansing oil is a dream!
