You’ll Find This Green Room at the Intersection Where Topshop Meets Tiffany’s

Biggie, Biggie, Biggie, can’t you see? Tiffany blue, you hypnotize me.

Sorry, Notorious (RIP), but I had to go there. When it comes to those little Tiffany blue boxes, I have to pay tribute one way or another, either by butchering a rap classic, or by letting out a high-pitched noise otherwise reserved for stripy kitties.

I can’t help it.

There’s just something about that Tiffany blue… Perhaps it’s the tantalizing treats that often hide inside the boxes, or maybe it’s just a perfectly balanced blueish green — a blend of all my hopes and dreams, with a dash of romance and wondrous possibility. Whatever the reason, the color strikes a chord with me, and it gives my heart palpitations.

I have a strong feeling that my fascination with it explains why I want to wear Topshop Nails in Green Room ($10) every day FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS. It’s one of 15 new Topshop Nail shades recently added to the line for spring and summer, and as of this very moment, I think I might love it more than Nutella (and, dude, that’s a lot).

I contend that if one were to melt down 100 Tiffany blue boxes, assuming for a moment that such a thing was possible, and pour the liquid into a nail polish bottle, Green Room is the color they’d get.

On me, Green Room requires four coats to reach full opacity and does take a while to dry. Depending on the light, it can also appear more greenish blue than blueish green, but I think it’s gorgeous either way. I haven’t been wearing it long enough to gauge wear time yet, but I’ll let you know if it surprises me by chipping sooner than a good polish should.

Random fun fact (that may someday help you win Jeopardy!) — A green room is also an area where actors and performers wait before going on stage.

Unfortunately, the color is tough to track down unless you live in New York. Topshop doesn’t currently sell their polishes online, and the solitary New York store, the only store in the US (a second one is opening in Chicago this September), doesn’t take credit card purchases over the phone. And THAT means this Green Room might as well be Fort Knox.

I hope the company finds a way to start taking online and phone orders for the color soon. After all, it’s only a matter of time before we spot impostors (if you think you might already know of a dupe, let me know in the comments).

Until then, Green Room would be a great excuse to visit the sites filmed in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I’ve always wanted to do that… 🙂

PRICE: $10
AVAILABILITY: Available now at the Topshop store in New York
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (come on, Topshop, increase your distribution!)

Hmm. This probably wouldn’t be a great color on me. Love the swatch of you holding the Tiffany’s box, though!

Oh yeah it’s in the 90s here! My summer has been insane! Taking care of my 12 week old + trying to finish thesis + trying to buy a new house = crazyness! I hope your summer is going well! Glad you got to take a vacay!

You’ve got a lot on your plate, my friend. I can’t even imagine trying to juggle house buying with a new baby and a thesis! You’re my hero.

BTW — thanks again for the Vera Bradley baby bag rec. I’m ordering it for my BFF’s shower, which is in a month.

      ME TOO!

Although I don’t think Tabs would be too keen on a little stripy sibling taking away any of his lurvies time with me or El Hub. He’s needy that way, hmm.

Topshop’s polishes are indeed marvelous! I have to say though, that I have this and it pulls WAY more green on me – I’m quite pale and cool-toned so it’s not too surprising, but just wanted to warn anyone with similar coloring that it could be quite a bit different 🙂

Good to know, thanks Candace. On me it shifts between blueish green and greenish blue depending on the light…

What other colors do you have from the line? I’d love to hear your must-haves!

Well, I have three other full-size colors and two mini sets of three polishes each that I bought around the holidays, so a fair few! They’re cheaper to buy in the UK, one of the few brands that actually is cheaper over there.

Gypsy Night is a definite must-have, it’s a gorgeous browny/black base with holo glitter and orangey/green flakies that looks crazy good in the fall and winter, I think 😀 others I recommend are Airplane, Pillar Box, Geography Teacher, and Sketch. They’re all good quality and worth checking out though!

It’s very pretty (looks great on you!), but I like to use more opaque polishes. I’m not the best at applying polish with my non-dominant hand, and thus the fewer the coats I have to apply, the lower the chance of me screwing something up!

Kittens! Have you seen that Dairy Queen commercial with the kittens in the bubbles? It’s pretty effective advertising, because by the end of it, I was squeeing at the kittens, AND I wanted to go get a Blizzard.

“Yes, I’ll have a medium oreo blizzard, and a tabby bubble. What, you’re out of those? Okay, I’ll take a ragamuffin bubble, then.” 🙂

I have the Orly polish in Gumdrop, and it matches the Tiffany box exactly when I wear it. I had many people comment on my “Tiffany blue” polish! http://goo.gl/Re3a8 (not my nails)

You really can’t go wrong with Tiffany blue! The Hubs still tells people that the only reason I cried when he proposed was because of the blue box. Totally untrue – I’m a notorious crier – but it’s still funny. And I do love my ring intensely. 🙂

I bet it’s gorgeous! I had a co-worker who had one of those engagement rings and it was hypnotizing. You could not keep your eyes off it when she walked in the room.

Duuude! Get China Glaze “For Audrey”! It’s a perfect copy of Tiffany’s blue. Also, it’s a lot easier to find *cough*Sally Beauty*cough* and the price is $5 with card 😀

It’s funny, I have this shade but it doesn’t look ‘Tiffany blue’ at all! It’s a bright green shade! Maybe the colours are different in the UK, who knows…
