June 24th, 2011 by Karen 38 Comments

Fall? Even though we’re barely a week into summer? Yes, ma’am. Many in the makeup world already have their sights set on the season of autumn leaves and pumpkin pie.

From Ms. Bobbi Brown, the mistress of muted makeup, comes the new eight-piece Fall 2011 Tortoise Shell Collection (arrives next month), with colors that look like they’ll be perfect to wear with cozy sweaters, tweed blazers, corduroy pants and knee-high — wait, what? Oh, yeah, we’re talking about fall. 🙂

Here’s a quick look at five pieces from the release. Let me know what ya think.

Sand Tortoise Shell Eye Palette, $60

Bronze Tortoise Shell Eye Palette, $60

The Sand Tortoiseshell palette and the lip colors look really lovely. Fall-ish without being too warm. That would work perfectly with my skintone.

The colors are wonderful. I think they will make my new look when I start my new job in August.

Honestly? I’m not loving it. It looks so blah to me. Plus, the brushes with the gold…it seems outdated. But that’s just my opinion and I’m a total makeup newb so take it with a grain of salt. Thanks for posting so much lately!

from the swatches the sand palette looks like the bronze one and the bronze like the sand one. weird.

Aww, it looks like your poor bronze palette got hurt. 🙁

I think these eye shadows would be good for when you want to look professional. Fortunately (or unfortunately), I almost never have to look professional. 😉

I kinda agree, except for the sand palette (which is still not the most pigmented, awesome nude pallette by far!) it’s kinda mom-ish… And BTW, was “soft nude” really the best name for that color? :-p

I normally hate neutrals (how many shades of brown, exactly, does one need?), but these are appealing, and I can’t figure out why. I may have to pick up one of these palettes and experiment with “grown-up” makeup in the fall. 🙂

I don’t see anything I have to have. And to be honest I have never really been impressed with Bobbi Brown’s makeup. The price seems to high for the quality.

I love the looks of everything! But I’m particulary interested in the new lipglosses…..along with the Bare Sparkle, there is another called Beach with is supposed to be on the mauve side. I’m really looking to seeing this collection in person. My local counter tells me mid to late July (I’m in Toronto, Canada btw).
    thanks, Lisa

I’m totally head over heels in love with the Bronze palette! I’ve been pretty excited since I saw the promo images but the swatches pretty much seal the deal hehe. 😀 (By the way, I suspect that the swatches of the two palettes are mislabeled.)

I like the Bronze and the Soft Nude lipstick. I don’t like that BB is rushing fall, though! 🙂 Although fall is my favorite season, we’re just starting to get some summer traction here in the NE. I can’t think about pumpkin pie yet. 🙂

The first thing I did was go *GASP* and then I saw the bronze palette and said I HAVE to have that. Bobbi Brown knows my weakness and it is the neutral palette of anything. GORGEOUS!!!

I really love the neutrals, but “soft nude” doesn’t seem to be the most appropriate name for the lipstick, lol.

Sand Tortoise Shell palette is to die for. But I’d accept the Bronze one, too :). Soft Nude lipstick looks lovely, too (but I wouldn’t necessarily call it a nude :P).

Love the palettes, the colors are all warm, rosy, and relatively neutral. Perhaps they aren’t exactly wow-factor shades, but I think they still all have a certain special quality without being overwhelming. To me these shades feel like sitting at a cafe sipping some chai, lovely indeed.

    Hey Karen!

which palette do you like better? We’re the same skin-tone-ish and I was leaning towards the bronze but wanted to know your thoughts.

Love those colours! The palettes look a great deal like last fall’s trend though (Dior, UD’s Nude..) – or is it just me?

I received my MAC order today and guess what was in it…….EVOLUTION REVOLUTION 🙂

It is my first MAC lipglass and I seriously <3 it and the story behind it!

Meh. I like the quality of BB makeup, but these neutrals look dupeable, and it is a bit pricey. I would rather buy a new shade of her gel liner.

I saw these at Nordies yesterday so apparently you can buy them now. I liked the Sand palette but I have so many neutrals already that I don’t need any more neutral palettes. I do like the tortoise though!

I picked it up yesterday. Looks great in the case, and I do love the case. The pigmentation is too sheer for me. Boo-Hiss. I wanted to love it!

I love bobbi and I love mixing colors and styles from different seasons. Never understood why people stick to season collections so strictly, if it works it works. Would definitely use the bronze eye color palette now for a great night out!
