Two Ways to Win the MAC Semi Precious Mineralize Eyeshadows in Jade’s Fortune and Rare Find

June 25th, 2011 by Karen 512 Comments

  • WINNER: The giveaway is closed now, and the winner is Naj! Congratulations, Naj! If you entered but didn’t win this time around, keep trying, and click here to enter any ongoing giveaways before you jet. 🙂

Good morning! Rise and shine, pal o’ mine. It’s the weekend, and a troupe of wild turkeys in bowler hats are performing show tunes right outside!

Okay, not really, but wouldn’t that be cool? 🙂

I’m on my way out the door but wanted to give you morning greetings (GREETINGS!) — oh, and also mention the movie I saw last night. We rented
I Am Number Four. Now, masterpiece of filmmaking, it is not, but I’m a sucker for sci-fi (you know this about me), and I enjoyed it a lot. If you liked Jumper, it reminded me of that. Good looking, fast-paced, interesting ideas, but uninspired acting (sorry, Quinn Fabray). Worth a rental if you like sci-fi and just want to let your mind wander for a while.

I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but Tabs was originally cast as the lead. He was let go after an outburst on the set (something to do with the catering and gravy). Rather than abandon the project, the producers brought in Alex Pettyfer to take over and changed the movie’s name…

Tabs is not Number Four

Enough about movies! It’s time to get on with our day, and what better way to start than with a chance to win MAC? You know what that means. It’s…

A Makeup and Beauty Blog Giveaway!

Win MAC

One lucky lady will win…

  • One (1) pan of MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Jade’s Fortune (a $20 value) and
  • One (1) pan of MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Rare Find (a $20 value)

Jade’s Fortune

Rare Find

Don’t these two of the 12 MAC Mineralize Eyeshadows from the upcoming Semi Precious Collection look like little works of art? They can be worn dry for a sheer effect or wet for something bolder.

  • There are two ways to enter, and you can do both of them for two chances to win. First, you can enter by leaving a comment at the bottom of this post, a comment about anything at all, like, the name of your favorite painter. Do you have a favorite museum? Do you consider yourself an artistic person? When was the last time you drew a picture? — you get the idea. Oh, and your comment doesn’t have to be about art. That’s just what’s on my mind right now.
  • Second, you can enter by following me on twitter Twitter @karenmbb and retweeting (RT) the following message:
    • Follow @karenmbb and RT to Win 2 of the MAC Semi Precious Mineralize Eyeshadows http://bit.ly/iXe9ZK

  • The deadline to enter is Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 11:59PM (PT).
  • Entrants must enter using a valid email address and/or Twitter account to win.
  • A maximum of two (2) entries per person — one within the comments at the bottom of this post, and a second entry via Twitter addressed to me @karenmbb.
  • Contest is open to individuals of any country who have reached the age of majority according to their local laws (18 in the United States with these exceptions: Alabama and Nebraska, 19; Mississippi, 21).
  • Tabs and I (heretofore referred to as “T-Money and K-Dawg”) will select one (1) winner at random from the entries either left in the comments at the bottom of this blog post or addressed to @karenmbb on Twitter.
  • The winner will be announced here within 48 hours of the deadline.
  • Void where prohibited by law.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Part of the reason I love makeup so much is because I love to paint (oils, mostly). Makeup is like painting on my face! Both makeup and painting are all about pigment. Well, pigment, binders, and mediums, i guess. Color. Texture. You know, that sorta stuff. But I find myself to be a bit of a pigment-collector, needing to expand my palettes of both paints and cosmetics! (ps. i linked my comment to my art site, where I’m slowly archiving all my past stuff)

    Good Morning,
These two colors are very pretty, especially the “Rare Find”. It would be nice to win these.

I draw on occasion but it’s mostly attempting. The last thing I drew was “a dozen roses” for my youngest daughter’s birthday, who moved to Arkansas. I’ve always loved roses and wished I could draw them. So I tried. They were all different but came out pretty good. She loved them, as a daughter would!

    Have a great weekend!

I used to think I would major in art when I went to college, so I have lots to say about the subject. I think my favorite artist is Georgia O’Keeffe, because I really like botanical paintings, but I really like Van Gogh, Monet, & Seurat too. I’ve been to the Metropolitan Museum of Art & The Guggenheim & both are fun, although I like hanging outside, eating stuff from vendor’s cart & people watching even more (my absolute fav. museum in NYC is the Museum of Natural History).

I’m way more craftsy than artsy these days, crocheting, learning to knit, doing some jewelry making, and some sewing. I used to draw (I did win 2nd place for a sketch when I was in HS & 1st place for a small sculpture too) much more than I do & I’m really hoping to start up again with regular pencil, colored pencil, & pastels.

Thanks so much for the giveaway & great questions. These are my 2 favorite shadows in the collection, so I am knocking on wood like a mad woman. 😉

This new collection by MAC looks absolutely beautiful! I haven’t been this excited for a new collection since their Hello Kitty realease!

I do consider myself an artistic person, art was my favorite class all through grade school & Jr. High. In fact, later today my son & I will be painting a valet organizer for grandpa for his father’s day present (we didn’t get to see him on the actual day).

I was recently at a really cool museum in Brussels- the Musical Instrument Museum. You can see instruments from different time periods and areas of the world. They give you headphones to wear as you go through the museum, and as you walk by each display, you can hear music played by the instruments in the display.

We saw a Paris exhibit and there was this gorgeous picture of the Eiffel Tower lit up with multicolored lights. The picture was so vivid and colorful that it was hard to believe that it was done completely with watercolor paint.

Wow! Those are gorgeous! I really wish I was creative, but I am actually a pretty boring person. 😛 But I love pretty things and can really appreciate someone else’s creativity. I love art too, and I think makeup is a form of art, people have a natural ability, or they have to work very hard at making it look natural. I love following your blog, you definitely have creativity. 🙂

I grew up in a very small town in the South and, was so thrilled when, in sixth grade, an art instructor from a near-by college, was brought in twice weekly to teach one other girl and me to paint. The following year, I was asked by my school’s officials to teach a voluntary, 30-minute art class after lunch; no one was graded on their work, it was just for anyone who was interested in art. We all had a lot of fun! I always thought it was so sad that our small school system could not afford a real art class; no money in the budget. There were actually one or two students who had real talent! Life happened and I haven’t painted or even sketched for years. Sometimes, I wonder what might have been…..
