Oh, summer, how I’ve missed you so! Last night it was warm enough to walk around outside in a T-shirt without a jacket or sweater.
Without a jacket or sweater. Seriously, I still can’t believe it was real!
After months that dragged on like years of “partly cloudy skies,” it was so nice to just stroll down a bustling boulevard crowded with happy people out taking advantage of the clear, comfortable night. With a cup of ice cream in my hands, I walked along Fourth Street in downtown San Rafael looking up at stars — yes, real stars — that I’d almost forgotten were there.
I was wearing one of my favorite summertime lipsticks from MAC called Sandy B, a shimmery golden pink. I don’t know why, but I only think to wear it when it’s warm outside like it is now. It’s the same beautiful color all year round, but I guess I’ve grown to associate it with summer.
It was a perfect night — Sandy B Lipstick and MAC Evolution Revolution Lipglass on my lips, El Hub on my arm, ice cream in my hands and stars above my head. The only thing missing was a husky tabby by my side. 🙂

Ooh that’s a pretty color. Hmm.. pet’s favorite toy. I’d say our two dogs love the tiny hippo they have. They’re big labradors (chocolate and black) and they always tend to go for their tiny little hippo and walk around with its head sticking out of their mouth. It’s just adorable.

When I was in grade school, I usually went to summer camp…and I loved it because I made a lot of friends and the camps I went to were always artsy. Got to perform in a play, learn to dance, paint, and create jewelry. Very fun!

As an Aussie, 4th of July isn’t for us to celebrate… but I -will- be celebrating for a personal reason – my Honours thesis is going to be submitted, finally!! A year of hard work, finally coming to an end! So, I expect we both will be having a great fourth of July! 😀

I like to apply my lipstick both ways. I use a lip brush for lighter coverage and straight from the tube for heavier coverage. But I always remember to blot my lips before consuming any food or drink in order to avoid ingesting harmful chemicals in the lipstick.

I’m in college and the day before I got on the plane to come home I was wearing a sweater and when I stepped into the airport parking lot at 10 pm after our flight it had to be like 100 degrees.
It’s so humid and gross! My poor cats look miserable, they’re always moping around. I can’t ever think of Tabs moping!

I only have one lipstick in my arsenal (so far), and it’s red (of course!). The way I apply it usually depends on the look I want: for a more casual look, apply straight from tube or pat with finger. I use a brush if I want a more precise look or going to a formal event.

Summer is the best time ever!!!
Your question about dogs favorite too makes me miss my Bubee. We lost him last October (the day before I went on vacation, boy was that a looong vacation. lol) His favorite toy was this green thing that looked like the bottom of a mop (it might have been, I don’t remember buying it) He would throw it in the air and chase it all around. Sometimes he threw it a little too straight up and it would come back down and smack him in the face. I love when he played with that thing, though, and he did up until the very end. It was the one thing that made me forget how old he really was.
This fourth of July I will be blowing fireworks up with my boyfriend, just like we did last year. Then once forth of July is over, the military gave us a new assignment in Virginia so “Hello Cross country road trip (Washington State to Virginia)

My dog’s fave toy is a stuffed dog that looks just like him. He humps this poor toy all the time. We call it “hump-buddy”. We are actually on hump-buddy number 2, he wore the original out!!!

Right now I only have ds lipsticks so I just apply from the tube! I would like to think that I’d use a brush when I got more expensive lippies, but I think I’d rather just look cool with my awesome expensive(r) lipstick case in my purse, cause I’d make me feel grown up!
My cat’s favorite toy is a large green tinsel pom pom that has been named Big Greenie (he has a twin, and a blue cousin). It’s really compact & firm, so it’s good for throwing. She used to play fetch with a lot, but not so much anymore. She’s also been known to talk to it while stalking it and talking with it in her mouth. Talking with her mouth full… my cat has no manners. 😉

I apply my lipstick different ways depending on the color and the pigmentation it gives off. If it’s a dark color and I don’t want it to be that pigmented, then I’ll dab it on my lips and spread it out with my fingers. But most of the time I just apply it from to tubes straight to my lips!
I used to go to a sports summer camp when I was a kid, now I hate sports, and am about to go to opera camp for the second year in a row. I am so excited! I get to sing this gorgeous aria from a little-known operetta called Die Schöne Galathee. Super exciting!
Summer is my absolute favourite season. Its soo short in Canada I have to take advantage of every minute!

I just bought a lip primer and plumper combo from E.L.F. It just doesn’t work for me. The shade is too light and my lips have too many chaps. Maybe it’s better just to wear lipstick alone.

Hey Karen! Just wanna say that I LOVE EVOLUTION REVOLUTION. I received it on Monday and I am in love. I layer it on top of some of my favorite lipsticks like Mac Fresh Salmon, Syrup, Crosswires, and even Rimmel Latino and it just sets it off in this mutha!! That is the first lipglass that I bought a back-up for because I wouldn’t know what to do if I ran out. I love everything about it. So, fabulous job on the lipglass girl!!

I can’t say I’ve ever applied my lipstick other than straight from the tube. Though I’ve heard it helps the color last if you dab it on with your finger. How true is that?

Ah, that’s such a pretty color, bu I always have trouble working with frosts. Shimmer against pigmented lips looks like I sprinkled metallic overlay over them. Any tips on working with them? I just moved to the northwest, and my brain still have a different definition of summer clothes, so now I’m always underdressed for the weather, lol. Does it ever get warm enough to wear short shorts here?

I only went to camp through our school in the 6th grade during spring. It was week long spend the night away with the rest of the class and really kind of fun. All the other schools in our district did it too but at different times of the year.

Never worn Sandy B. I only have a few MAC shades (Hue, Cyndi, and the old Ever Hip) so it would certainly help me expand! I always apply straight from the tube, but I like to do it over a coat of lip balm, otherwise it can look a lil crepey.

I’ve been to summer camps, my most memorable one was when u was eight and my friends and I went to this camp that had the cabins built on stilts and linked together and had ladders and zipline and firepoles and slides to get upand down from. It was pretty cool! Until I went off the zipline, hit a tree and split my heelbone in half. They promised me it wasn’t broken, so they kept me at the camp for a few days, having to carry me around everywhere since I couldn’t go on nature walks. Finally I went to the hospital, got it x-rayed and had a cast on for the next 6 weeks.
I was never allowed to go on summer camp, but soon my own daughters will go… (and I’m not looking foreward to it)

I like to use a stain first in a neutral color (Outlast Lipstains by Covergirl is usually what I use) then go over that with my lipstick. Lastly, I always top with CO Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine from Bath and Body works!

The only summer camp that I remember going to is horse camp. I think I only went one year because I just started leasing a horse after that. My trainer is teaching pony camp now and it makes me miss it. At 25, I’m a little too big to ride the ponies now.

Too hot here, need a cool color lipstick (that’s my excuse).
I don’t feel comfortable using a lip brush, so I apply lipsticks straight from the tube. Haha! And I wish I’ve experienced a summer fling. I never did, maybe due to the fact that I only look better now, and the rest of my teenage years were just awkward phases of my life.

Love the color of Sandy B.! I’ve been wearing it as of recently, but my biggest complaint is that that even though I prime my lips and moisturize them every evening, it ends up looking like a gritty texture in almost no time. I usually don’t like to wear lipgloss over my lipsticks because it ends up all over my face when the wind flies through my hair, and I have to reapply at least 2-3 times during the day…

I apply lipliner first, then lipstick straight from the tube. Bottom lip first. Old school, creature of habit. Only time I bust out a lip brush is for good old hooky ho red lipstick. Which is my favorite.

My favorite thing to do in the summer is go tubing down a river that is 45 minutes away from Tallahassee with a group of friends! It takes about 4 hours to get down the river and it has shallow points, deep points, places you can jump off of, sandbars you can lounge on with a drink in hand, etc. It’s the ultimate summer activity! I’ve never tried on Sandy B, but even if I don’t win, I’ll be trying it on next time I’m at MAC! Thanks for the tip!

I confess I only use a brush for very special ocasions… even when I know it will last more and look better by doing that, just because I am too lazy to clean the brush after every single usage… Maybe I’ll stock up on lipstick brushes to use a new one everyday, and then wash them all together…

I went to so many summer camps throughout my childhood. My favorite was a girl scout camp I went to for nine years. I was so sad when I had to get an actual summer job…

I am such a MAC junkie that I’m shocked that I never heard of this color before but it is absolutely gorgeous. I really love the multi dimensional aspect of it and I can imagine that when worn, depending on the lighting, the color must take on difference hues, almost as if you are wearing 2 different lipsticks. This is such an incredibly universal color and can be worn with any outfit, casual or formal, any season and for any event. It’s simply lovely. I just adopted a kitty yesterday! I didn’t think I was ready for a new cat yet after my 19.5 year old cat passed away in April, but I saw him at the Humane Society when I was there for a tour with my university and we had an instant connection. He has made himself quite comfortable in my apartment!
It’s funny you should mention camp, because right now I’m smackdab in the beginning of CampNaNoWriMo, a summertime version of the international novelling event that takes place every November. In a nutshell, it’s 50K words of original fiction in 31 days and it is AWESOME.

For some reason, I have been watching Lifetime’s Fraiser marathon for days now. I don’t even really like Fraiser, but it makes for great background noise for chores and writing.
I’ve always wanted to go to summer camp, but my mom would never allow me to! She’s crazy protective of her kids, but I know it’s because she loves us so I didn’t push 🙂 Plus, I’d have felt bad since we couldn’t really afford it, either!

I loved summer camp – my favorite was synchronized swimming camp – yep, there actually is such a thing!
I just got a new kitten named Albert. He is the cutest little kitty I have ever seen and his favorite toys are bottle caps of any variety. He absolutely goes wild when he finds one on the floor of my boyfriends apartment and will play with it till he’s too exhausted to stand!

Summer is here and all i want to do is wear bright, poppy color lipstick, but it’s really hard when it’s so hot.
I just finished taking the clippers to the back of my head on a whim, and am pleased with the results, believe it or not! And this is a very pretty neutral, would love to try it!
I usually apply straight from the tube but if I’m using a bright or dark color then I’ll go the whole nine yards and use liner and a brush to apply.
That lipstick is gorgeous! I tend to shy away from very bright/bold lipsticks because I think it won’t look good on me. You could say I’m even scared of those kind of lippies, lol. MAC Sandy B is definitely my cup of tea 🙂
Btw, MAC Impassioned looks great on you. Together with your outfit and dress, it screams S-U-M-M-E-R-!!! I’m even tempted to try it 🙂

I think that my mascara takes longer to dry when it’s summertime and I end up with smudges below my lower lashline and on my upper lid! Plus it doesn’t curl as nicely as it does in winter either.

I apply my lipstick straight from the tube. I do not like applying lipgloss on top of it. Maybe i am not a lipgloss fan. 😀 Whenever I don’t have a time to wear make up at all or when I am just too lazy, just swiping my favorite lipstick will do the trick. You can never have too many lipsticks.

I’ve never been to summer camp but I always went away with my grandma to her apartment in the Dominican republic I would always leave to go there the day after school ended and come back to the states the day before school started. It was fun and I got to bond with my grandma.
I just ate two scoops of butter pecan ice cream, and am really regretting it. I could have eaten some fruit instead… and I’m too lazy to workout this late at night. Darn it!

I love makeup and changing eyebrow shapes and hair color and all sorts of beauty items. It reminds me of remodeling a home. When you get tired of the paint color, just paint over it into a more appealing color. Same principle goes for lipstick, right?
I like going to the beach during summer! The last I had, we went snorkeling in a beach down here with my cousins! we fed the fishes and it was oh so beautiful! 🙂

Here comes the sun…and there goes my makeup melting off my face! Summertime boosts my spirits but no amount of primer can prevent my eyeshadow from creasing or my foundation from melting on the hottest days. Thankfully lipstick and gloss stay on my kisser regardless. In addition to being fresher than dark eyeshadow, I can use subtle, enhancing shades containing SPF to the beach, or the dog park with my pooch, without looking like I’m trying too hard. They are a must in my summertime makeup repertoire.

I apply lipstick in different ways, straight from the tube, with lip brush, with flat medium eyeshadow brush, or dab it with my finger
