Dolce & Gabbana Italian Summertime Lipstick Swatches and Working with Demanding Cats

July 8th, 2011 by Karen 50 Comments

Seriously, if I don’t start getting some recognition from my boss, I just might go apesh*t. Don’t get me wrong, I love working for Tabs. Being his executive assistant/gravy chef has been an amazing experience, but he refuses to acknowledge any boundaries between my work and personal life.

Last night I literally had one foot out the door when he stopped me.

“Meow!” he said, knowing full well that El Hub and I had reservations for dinner.

“But it’s our anniversary,” I replied. I pleaded with him, but he just stared back at me, expressionless, as if to say, “And?” He told me dinner would have to wait until I finished swatching these new lip products from the Dolce & Gabbana Italian Summertime Collection, available now at Saks stores and also online.

Apparently, he got an e-vite from Domenico and Stefano to spend the weekend at their villa on Lake Como in Italy, and he wanted the swatches to help him decide which lip colors he should wear for the trip.

Whatev. A kitty assistant’s work is never done…

Dolce & Gabbana Italian Summertime 2011 lip products from left to right: Precision Lipliner in Caramello ($30), Shine Lipstick in Luna ($30), Classic Cream Lipstick in Madorla ($30) and Shine Lipgloss in Cannella ($29)

Swatches from the left to right: Luna, Mandorla, Cannella and Caramello

Shine Lipstick in Luna

Tabs has always loved smokey eyes (they’re his favorite look), so he really likes how the darker Lipliner in Caramello and Ultra Shine Lipgloss in Cannella work with this smokey eye look here.

It’s not really my kind of color, but frosty beige Shine Lipstick in Luna has a ’60s go-go girl vibe Tabs also likes.

He ended up going with Classic Cream Lipstick in Mandorla for the flight over, adding that you just can’t go wrong with the classic smokey eye/nude lip combo.

Even though I was late for dinner, I have to admit — the cat’s got good taste. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oh, that Tabs. These celebs never let up on their poor assistants, do they?

    Happy anniversary!

No, they insist that they’re the center of the universe! I guess that’s why we love ’em. 🙂

Hope you’re having a good Friday so far! What plans do you have for the weekend?

The lipshade for the first picture is great! I believe it’s the cream one in Madorla? I need a nude lip shade. But I always end up having one that’s not nude, drying, streaky, ill-looking, weird, or fake. 🙁

I’m glad to know I’m not the only parent of an incredibly demanding kitty! Although mine just usually demands belly rubs! 🙂

had my brows threaded by my fave threading lady, then picked up some nomalicous vietnamese food for dinner!

i wanted to stay in tonight to get some work done on an embroidery piece im working on. 🙂

mandorla looks like a great pinky nude that would work for warmer skintoned gals (and guys!) … love it!

    Oooh I”m loving Madorla!!!!

What is the greenish color you have on your eyes? I have tried stuff like this but i’m a NC25 and I usually feel like the color is to harsh for my lighter skin tone, any suggestions?

    Have a great weekend!

      Hi DanaJae,

I’m wearing MAC Colourzations Double Feature 3. Here I have the teal shade built up, but with a light hand you could easily work it on lighter skin.

Can any of the other pale beauties out there offer some teal suggestions for DanaJae?

Cannella looks amazing on you! I could never pull off colors like that without looking “gothy” but on you they’re vampy and gorgeous.

You and Tabs need a “come to Jesus” meeting! What do you have on your eyes? YOu look stunning! Ilike the Madorla, then Cannella. Luna reminds me too much of my sister in the 60’s although as a kid I thought it was pretty cool then!

i def agree with everyone else–your eyes look stunning! the scarf def. brings out your eyes; i’m definitely in it for the purchase! (since it looks so great on you). as for the smoochers, i’ve never worn a bold red, but i’m excited to try it! mandorla is lovely! & i think luna would be sometimes fun, especially in dull lighting 🙂 last but not least, i’m glad you love tabs! i’ve never been fond of full-grown cats (just the kittens) because i’ve never had good experiences with them, but if i had a cat as sweet as tabs, i’m sure i’d love it! (even if they may be a little bossy ;))

I think Canella is definitely my fave. Darn that Tabs – he gets all the glory travel! 🙂 I’ve never been to Lake C, but it’s certainly beautiful (from pics I’ve seen). I remember reading that it was too polluted to swim in, though. It’s too bad because it looks so gorgeous.
