Red Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick in Garçonne Is Raising Quite a Flap

July 8th, 2011 by Karen 27 Comments

ZOMG! You could probably buy several baguettes, a couple of glasses of fancy red wine and maybe even a wheel of high-quality stinky cheese for the price of one tube of Guerlain’s new Rouge G in Garçonne ($47), but DAYUM!, it’s a helluva red.

One layer of this vibrant, pigmented true red, one of three new Rouge G shades for fall, brightens my mood as it brightens my lips.

Reds can be notoriously difficult to apply, but Garçonne’s unusually easy to handle, even straight from the tube without a lip brush or liner. I think it might be due to its creamy finish and super soft texture.

The Guerlain Rouge G’s are my current favorite long-wearing luxury lipsticks, with all-day color that even lasts through meals and drinks. Their hydrating formula also keeps my lips soft and smooth.

Garçonne is quite rude to wallets, but it’s an instant, timeless classic I suspect we’ll be seeing for years to come.

PRICE: $47
AVAILABILITY: Coming this August to Guerlain counters
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A (a classic, despite the price)

If I were single and looking for love on the Internet…

…I’d totally be this woman.

I also love cats, AND I love to run!

I’m so not kidding. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. I hope you had a great afternoon. I’m just chillin’ at home tonight. No big fireworks for me. Right now I’m getting ready to have a mango bar (or two) and watch a movie from the couch. Weekend starts in three, two, one…

That is a stunning red, but a bit out of my price range these days!

    Loving that video!

So, what movie are you watching? I’m just hanging out watching Sex & the City repeats.

Hi, Heidi. Isn’t that video awesome!? I’ve already watched it about 20 times tonight.

I’m browsing through Netflix for a movie to stream on the computer while I watch The Descent on the TV. Have you seen The Descent? The one with the gals in the cave?

Yeah, not gonna go spelunking into a mine shaft in the forest. Sorry!

I haven’t seen that movie, but it sounds interesting, and also something I would not be doing!

Okay, after watching that video a few more times, I’m totally in love with the DJ cat! Too cute!

Wow, $47.00 for a lipstick seems pricy even for Guerlain! Although the color is amazing, especially on you and I’m sure the texture is to die for. I also love the packaging! 🙂

What a classic, beautiful red! But I can’t really bring myself to spend that much for a lipstick.

Uh oh, I think I’m in love. I’ve never worn red lipstick before, and really wanna find mr. Right red lipstick… I think I have! I’m going to be waiting until a fluffier paycheck, and I might pick it up. Do you think it will work well on someone who has a pretty neutral skin tone? By the way… Your eye makeup is to die for! So pretty:)

That video is hilarious! If you link over to the original (not songified), she has links to buy shirts. I think you need a shirt that says “Sorry, I’m thinking about cats again”

Alas since we don't yet have Guerlain here ! I just couldn't stop myself after looking at this in the morning and went and splurged on a lil toned down red lipstick from the Dior addict line 773 Rouge Podium , its a pretty red that am sure you'll love !

You make me want red lips so bad !!! You totally rock this girl !

Jeebus that’s red. I don’t know if I can pull it off, personally, but it looks great against your skin.

That red lipstick looks amazing on you! Love the eyes as well! The whole look is great! Sadly, my lipstick budget is never open wide enough for a $47 lipstick. Oh well. I live vicariously through your and your Makeup, Karen! 🙂

Two-syllable daaaaamn, that looks nice! I bought my first Rouge Automatique yesterday ($40 here in Canada, which is more than I usually shell out for a single lip product), and I gotta say, I’m in love with it. I was blown away by how long-lasting it was, and if the Rouge Gs are supposed to be better, my wallet is in trouble. Luckily, there’s no where I can buy the Rouge G line in my city, cause I have a hard time seeing myself wearing anything else now!

Watching that video, I think that young woman is not quite right in the head. I love cats too, but why was she crying ?? She looked almost unhinged, and totally inappropriate for a dating video, if it was real. I dunno…
    Just my opinion.

Very pretty red! I tend to go more crazy for the cool reds, though. Obviously not in a lipstick (you know I’m totally red-phobic), but just as colors in general. It’s funny how some people gravitate toward warm and others cool. 🙂

Oh, wow, really nice on you. I used to think I would never spend this much on a lipstick, that was until last month I accidentally found Rouge G in Bee and that started a very serious addiction. I never thought of buying a Guerlain lipstick but the makeup artist recommended Bee to me when I was looking for a violet-plum. Bee has become my absolute fave. Since then I found out it was limited edition the last holiday season and now I feel so lucky to have gotten that, in fact I have fallen in love so much that I think I will go out on a hunt for a backup of that shade. Spectacular shade and Rouge G what can I say?

Rouge Gs have the most amazing, most comfortable, luxurious and long lasting formulas. The compact is something else, like jewelry, definitely a work of art. Bee has a special compact which is even more beautiful if that is possible.

This month I got Garconne and Gaby. Garconne is a true red, just gorgeous. I used to think I wore cooler reds better but that is not true, I have discovered that warm reds are more youthful and actually better on me since I have fair skin (with dark hair and dark eyes). On you Karen all shades would be more beautiful due to your skincolor. Ladies with fair skin would be better off with a true red or an orangey red but definitely a warm shade. Garconne looks more contrasty on me due to my skin color and very pigmented lips I guess. I love it on you, you can pull it off with heavier eye makeup as well.
