It’s the Creasing with Too Faced Exotic Color Intense Eye Shadow in Cop a Teal That Makes Me Blue

July 14th, 2011 by Karen 44 Comments

One of my favorite things about makeup is how we’re not just allowed to let our moods, whims and temporary obsessions influence our color choices and techniques; we’re actually encouraged to. Heck, that’s a big part of the whole shebang, and along those lines, I’ve been feeling blue…

Not blue in a bad way. Just blue.

I don’t really know why or what triggered it, but for some reason I’ve been liking blue even more than usual, especially blue eyeshadows, which is why I had sky high hopes for $18 Exotic Color Intense Eye Shadow in Cop a Teal, one of 12 shades from Too Faced Cosmetics.

But maybe I set my expectations a little too high. It being such a pretty peacock blue, and so pigmented, too, I was disappointed to see it crease as much as it does. Not even NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base really helps.

I do like the color, though, so I think I’ll keep trying to find a way to make it work.

Hmm… Any ideas?

Boo on the creasing. This kind of looks like a darker version of MAC Tilt, which didn’t do enough for me. I was rooting for Cop a Teal. 🙁

i don’t think it’s too much to ask for an eyeshadow to not crease. that’s too bad as it’s such a gorgeous colour!

that sux that it creases. maybe double prime – nars smudgeproof + a benefit creaseless cream or paintpot. it might help!

That’s such a shame that is creases; the color is so beautiful. I wonder if it would crease on me… At least Sephora has an awesome return policy!

did you set it with a powder? people often overlook doing that for creme shadows for some reason…a creme formula always demands a good powder set 🙂

That’s a great trick and I use it all the time! This is actually a powder shadow. 🙂 I also used primer, too, and it still creased.

I swear by Bare Escentuals Prime Time. It’s the bomb! UD and Nars primers didn’t work for me, I think it was the silicone. BE wears like iron. No shadows crease on me with this stuff and I have super oily lids.

At the moment I am using MAC Cream Color Base in Pearl. I am really planning to soon try UD eyeshadow primers AND Two Faced eyeshadow primers to see how they hold up.

Maybe try a different shadow primer such as Too Faced. If not, try it as a lower lash liner.

I tried it with Too Faced Lemon Drop and it still creased (sigh).

Great idea to use it as a lower lash liner… I’ll probably end up doing that.

I haven’t tried TF glitter glue, but I do have Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy and Sobe Botanicals Stick it, both of which work really well for glittery shadows. I haven’t tried the Lemon Drop (though I have tried the Candlelight). How disappointing, because that’s such a gorgeous color.

Yeah I have one of Too Faced’s new shadows, I have the one called “Petals to the Metal” it’s like a more exotic Mac Club. It’s this brown, green, blue mix w/ multi-color glitter…but anyway enough of my rambling lol. I tried this eyeshadow out too, love the color but it creased on me even w/ Urban Decay primer potion and nothing creases when I use that stuff! : / I need to play w/ it some more and maybe layer a paint pot on top of the UDPP and see if it helps..but yeah feel your pain too lol.

I’m going to do some experimenting over the weekend with some Benefit Creaseless Creams and Paint Pots. Let me know if you find a combo that works! 🙂

It is such a pretty colour. Too bad about the creasing. Hopefully you’ll find a combination of this and a primer that works. Gorgeous hues like this should be worn and worn for hours! 🙂

Hehe, the name of the shadow made me giggle.

I bought Cop a Teal yesterday and wore it with Tarte Firmitol eye primer. It stayed on from 2pm to 11pm when I removed it in the shower without creasing. It even made it through 45 minutes on the treadmill.

Try the Tarte primer. I swear by it.
