Full Coverage from Two Coats of Nails Inc. Polish

August 12th, 2011 by Karen 27 Comments

Have I ever mentioned my collection of refrigerator magnets?

I couldn’t decide what to paint my paws with last night, so I used my indecision as an opportunity to swatch five of the Nails Inc. polishes now on sale at Sephora.

If (and that’s a big if) I decide to look a little less crazy today and pick just one of these to paint all of my fingers with, which one should it be? Do any of them strike your fancy?

From the left that’s St. James, Camden, Fitzroy Square, Elizabeth Street and Hay Market ($9.50 each).

I’m thinking about going with Hay Market for my fingers and Camden atop Fitzroy Square on my toes…

Camden with Fitzroy

Hay Market

I’ve only just started testing these for durability and wear time, but I can comment on the coverage, which I think is great! As are the textures. I’m wearing two coats of each of the colors swatched here — enough for full coverage. These remind me of Essie in how thick they are, yet they still apply evenly and smooth.

My only beefs with ’em so far are with the way they smell (they have a very strong chemical scent), and with their flimsy plastic top, which forensic investigators would probably love for how well it picks up fingerprints.

What do ya think? See anything you like here? Do you have any experience with the Nails Inc. brand? If you do, what are your favorite shades?

Makeup and Beauty Blog on FacebookThis is a totally random thought and has nothing to do with Nails Inc., but I just had to ask, “Am I the only girl online who thinks that Facebook is confusing?” Last night I tried to create what Facebook calls a Fan page because of how it handles Likes versus the way a Friend page handles Friends. I have no idea if I did it correctly, but I suspect that I probably didn’t.

I use my regular Facebook page, but I’d really like to do something different with this new one, maybe create an archive of makeup looks and/or a pet modeling gallery. Do either of those ideas sound neat to you?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I haven’t tried any polishes from Nails, Inc yet, but now that they’re at Sephora I definitely will. the only decision I have to make is whether I feel like going RIGHT THIS SECOND or not. 🙂

I never polish my nails. I get really over the color super quick and when they chip, I feel trashy. Of all the makeup I own, nail polish just doesn’t do it for me. Too much work involved, even when I use a quick dry top coat, I still have issues. If I buy any polish, its those tiny little ones or they are in a set. Now pedicures, I get one faithfully every month and find that I don’t like my toes naked or with a french, yuck. Dark and saturated is what I like 🙂

    I vote for Hay Market.

I would really love to see both an archive of MU looks and a pet modeling page. You know my two furballs love to mug for the camera.

As a native Londoner I think it’s great you guys have Nails Inc. now – we love ’em! Fave look from above would be the Camden/Fitzroy glitter-rama but also think the soft pink of Elizabeth Street looks fab against your skin tone. Having a large collection of polishes – including lots of Nails Inc. – I would say in my experience they do chip sooner than say OPI or Essie but the colours are always strong and I’ve never been disappointed by what comes out of the pot. I change my nails pretty frequently anyway so not that bothered by a wee bit of chipping but I know some people hate it. Hope you continue to enjoy the Brit stuff!

I’m in the UK and Nails Inc is my favourite! Haymarket has been my number one summer polish, and before that I was in love with Jermyn Street, a greyish lilac (grilac?). You should also pick up the Vitamin E Nail Pen: it’s amazing. 🙂

I like Hay Market! But Nails Inc. Polish costs £11 each in the UK. Thats like $16-17! Such a rip off it is in the UK.

I’m from the UK and a huge Nails Inc fan, some might say obsessive! I’d say the wear was good to average (I find nothing lasts longer than 2-3 days on my nails). For me the cremes have the best formula, it’s rare for any to be more than a 2-coater. I don’t have any problem with the lid/brush/application but I know lots of girls who aren’t a fan of the fat, straight lid. I’m currently swatching as many of the Sephora ones as I have but Jermyn Street is a particular fave and St James’s is the perfect, super opaque red, St John’s Wood is gorgeous (but hard to photograph) and Buckingham Street is a pretty glitter.

I love them!! Each time I am in the UK I find myself stocking up on them, especially on Tate, which I love (always go for the Champane mani at Harvey Nichols, and almost always chose Tate as the colour to use) !! I do agree with Sadie about the longetivity of the polishes, I find my Essie’s and OPI’s to last longer.
