The Chanel Ombres Tissées Iridescent Effects Eyes in Beiges and Your Inner Princess

September 21st, 2011 by Karen 20 Comments

I like to think that within every girl lives a princess, and this morning my princess demanded two things: shimmer and Chanel.

Loved and nurtured, the princess is all smiles, sweetness, sparkles and light. She exists solely to love, and to appreciate beautiful things. Instead of walking places, she frolics; instead of talking, she sings. And sometimes she has daydreams like black and white Fellini films, in which she meanders down cobblestone Roman boulevards wearing a white dress and red high heels.

Not wanting to disappoint the princess, today I introduced her to the new Ombres Tissées Iridescent Effects Eyes in Beiges ($75).

I literally clutched my heart the first time I opened the compact and beheld the tweed pattern and sparkly silver overspray. The shimmery, illuminating pale pink and ivory powders in the limited edition trio, which arrived on Chanel counters recently as part of the Les Aquarelles De Chanel collection, as beautiful as they are to look at in the case, also double as eyeshadows and highlighters.

As the overspray wears down, it reveals pigmented powders with a hint of lovely sheen…

So very fitting of the princess! 🙂

I prefer to use these powders as eyeshadows, mixing all three of them together and pressing them on my lids using either a finger or a flat eyeshadow brush like the MAC 217.

There’s a small amount of fallout at first from the overspray, but it’s nothing alarming and disappears as I work my way into the pan. The trio really hits the spot for shimmery, bright-eyed looks that don’t require heavy blending, and a little liner and (lots of) mascara ties everything together.

The $75 price tag hurts, but if your inner princess loves Chanel, this trio should apease her.

PRICE: $75 (ouch!)
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Chanel counters and also online

I’m already in love with my Dior Amber Diamond highlighter. I don’t know if I have any room for Chanel Beiges. $75 is pretty hefty. =(

I have a love/hate relationship with chanel. They come up with such cute treatments of their shadows, which I love, but I sort of hate myself for ruining the perfect pattern to put the stuff on. Le Sigh.

It’s pretty for sure, but for $75 I could go get me a big haul from MAC instead. 🙂

The tweed pattern is so pretty and lady-like! I think this is a very sweet, soft shade, but that price tag is definitely fit for a princess…a wealthy princess. I am but a poor peasant! 😛

Oooooh, shimmerific! My inner English Lit major cringes because most of my comments are underlined in red as I type. Thank you, spell-check. 🙂
