A Bobbi Brown Party to Go Palette Face of the Day

October 5th, 2011 by Karen 47 Comments

bobbi brown party to go palette

I feel so “all dressed up with nowhere to go” right now! And yes, I know you’re probably laughing at my hat. It looks exactly like the one I wore with my band uniform freshman (or was it sophomore?) year. To complete the illusion, I should have been holding my mellophone and standing at attention in these pics of me wearing Bobbi Brown’s new holiday palette, Party to Go ($25).

Try as I might, I’ll never be able to escape my band geek past. 🙂

Do you remember a while back when we talked how no two purple eyeshadows are created equal? And how some of them, depending on the specific color and the wearer’s skin tone, can make our eyes look bruised, tired (like I need any extra help with that, hello!) or like we’ve been crying?

That’s what I was thinking about the first time I swept Party to Go’s Eggplant in my crease.

As it turns out, Eggplant is one of those really GOOD purples — GREAT even — that should work well on a wide range of skin tones.

It doesn’t contain much red, which for me with purples can sometimes lead to those looks I don’t like, and it’s just so elegant that it gets along really well with the rest of the shadows and lip products in the kit.

Call me crazy pants, but I think that even with beginner’s blending skills, most gals could pull off all of these products well. I’d love to see you try a look with Rockstar (the taupish gray) applied all over your lids, followed by Eggplant smudged along your lash line (if you try it, send me a pic!). Super simple and easy, yet très elegant. 🙂

How was the rest of your hump day? Your nephew Tabs says hi, by the way. I let him hang out on the deck when the sun broke through the clouds, and he spent the entire time basking in a small patch of sunlight while giving me “the stink eye.”

I’m pretty sure he blames me for the crap weather.

“This is your fault.”

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

oh my gawd that look is hysterical. What. a. killer.

I really like this palette on you! You are very right about the no two purples are the same. They can look great in the pan and do nada for your lids, or visa versa. I have yet to find the most awesome purple there is for me. I’ll have to put on my Sherlock Holmes cap and do some investigating “errands” on this new BB collection 😉

LOL… I like to call it “research.” 🙂

Definitely give this one a try! I think they also sell it as a single (if you don’t want the entire palette).

How has your week been? Good, I hope!

I love the look you’ve done! The Party to Go palette is my favorite. The purple looks perfect – it’s my favorite color and I don’t have many purple shadows because they have too much red in them most of the time. By the way, try the YSL Faux Cils purple mascara. It’s more wearable for us non-blondes!

This palette was one of the products that got my attention in the collection photos. How would the cool and purple tones of the palette fare on a warm light skintone? (I can’t wear mauve or plum lipcolours.)

To Tabs: Aww. Cheer up moody baby!

      Hi Jen,

I’m guessing that the purple’s going to look very dramatic on you (it’s pretty dramatic on me). Let me see if I can track down my fair skinned swatch model. Will get back to you on this one.

    The purple is fantastic!

You look so pretty Karen! I love that hat on you. I had an okay Wednesday until I had a fight with my neighbor over her dogs barking continuously at 3 in the morning. I hate confrontation and now I feel… defeated and sad. Plus, the dogs will continue to bark.

      Hi Jessi,

I am really sorry about the fight with your neighbor. I’m not big on confrontation as well, so I know how you feel. Maybe after a few days have passed and you have some distance maybe you guys can look at the issue with fresh eyes and find a resolution to the issue.

Poor Tabs! At least he’s keeping his handsome face in the shade. Wrinkle prevention is an important thing and we know that large brimmed hats can wreak havoc on his fur. 🙂

Gorgeous! This is a really pretty purple.

Tab is adorable as usual. Mingus hates the rain to b/c it limits his outdoor time. He’ll just lay on the floor and pout and then I feel bad and give him some treats to try and cheer him up. 🙂

What treats does Mingus like? Tabs is a Turkey Temptations kind of cat. The second he hears the crinkling of the package he goes NUTS.

I keep a large bag of Chicken Temptations for both Mingus and Ella. They usually get a treat before bedtime. If Ella’s not fast enough, he’ll eat her serving too. 🙂

Love the look on you! I had my eye on this palette when you posted about the collection earlier. In action, it’s even better than I expected. Definitely putting this on the Christmas Wish List for the hubby! 😉

Tabs does look quite unhappy with the weather. Maybe he thinks you’re like Storm from Xmen and can (magically) change the weather as you please. Or he thinks you powerful enough to control the weather like those Greek/Roman gods did. Either way, I’d take it as a compliment. 🙂

Awesome! Tell your hubs that this palette is the perfect stocking stuffer.

And haha, re: Storm from X-Men! I should put on a costume and a white wig just to mess with Tabs’ mind. 😉

Hope you’re having a great Thursday so far!

Those colors look so pretty on you! I just found (and purchased) a Clinique duo this weekend called Plum Potion that has a similar purple and grayish taupe. I love that combination for fall…now if I could just find some really great gray boots/booties to wear to work…

Plum Potion sounds really pretty. Clinique makes some really pretty eyeshadows for everyday wear. They were my gateway eyeshadows! 🙂
