Burt’s Bees Put the Sting in Cranberry & Pomegranate Replenishing Body Bar

October 16th, 2011 by Karen 9 Comments

Methinks Burt’s industrious bees put a little too much of themselves into their new Cranberry & Pomegranate Replenishing Body Bar ($5) because it hurts. so. good.

Well, good…depending on how you use it. While I thoroughly enjoy the scent, which smells just like cranberry juice to me, the bar doesn’t exactly make for a relaxing shower experience.

Burt the BeeSince I’d just about finished the Honey & Shea Conditioning Bar I picked up a while back (love), I was on the market for a new body bar to try and picked up this here Cranberry version at the drugstore last week.

The bees at Burt’s, Inc. added crushed cranberry and pomegranate seeds to the recipe to, according to the print on the box, provide a “rich, natural lather leaving skin smooth and rejuvenated,” and like the Honey & Shea Conditioning bar, it builds into a lush, creamy lather that also rinses clean. Unlike its more soothing cousin, though, it contains those exfoliating seeds…

…and they’re pretty hard to ignore. I can handle the abrasiveness on places like my elbows and feet, where the skin is naturally a little thicker than elsewhere, but everywhere else, it kinda hurts, no matter how light a touch I try to use.

Great for grating stubborn grime away from resilient skin, and I’ll keep it around to occasionally work on my rough spots, but I think I’ll stick to the Honey & Shea bar for the rest o’ my bod.

PRICE: $5
AVAILABILITY: Available now at most drugstores, and also online

Oh wow! It’s a shame it hurts where the skin isn’t thick. xP

    Hey Karen!
I was wondering if you will do a post of eye creams? Been starting to get fine lines and puffiness. It’s starting to drive me nuts hahaha. Im hoping to get a head start on antiaging but havent found an eyecream that works.

I like rough body bars (I am weird that way), so this may work for me!

hmm I just can’t seem to get into bar soaps. I much prefer a body wash and then a separate exfoliation product.

Knowing me, it would be worth the purchase just to have the smell in my shower or bath!

I’m not a fan of everyday exfoliation for the same reason. It’s just too much for my non-thick skin. I’ve been using Burt’s Orange Mango bar for a while now. It’s nice, and not abrasive. 🙂
