Aww, kitty walks! 😀
At least he’s standing up. I got a halter leash to try with one of mine and all she did was flop over and pretend to be dying for the hour she wore it. Apparently going outside was not worth the horror of being seen on a leash.
Tabs did that too when I first put it on him. It took a LOT of bribery and time. At first, I rubbed cat nip leaves all over the leash and gave him treats whenever I took it out so that he’d associate the leash with good things. Eventually he figured out that when the leash comes out, he gets to explore the great outdoors. It took about two weeks. Be patient with your kitty girl… Once she knows what to do it can be a fun thing for the both of you!
We’ll be trying it again in the spring I think. There’s a nice park across the road that’s just calling out to be explored. Sadly only one of my three is brave enough to go outside at all.
Cassandra your comment made me laugh out loud. “…all she did was flop over and pretend to be dying…” That’s priceless. 🙂 Cats are such drama queens when it comes to leashes and collars.
I love the kitty leash. 🙂 Our kittens just go outside without one, Fluff our young kitten only explores our back garden and the neighbour’s garden, but Paws our big kitten (nearly 1) goes much further. Do you take Tabs on proper walks like a dog? I’ve never seen anyone walk cats like that. 🙂
It’s so awesome that you walk Tabs. If I had a cat, I’d totally want to walk it.
I’ve only seen someone walk a cat once, and it was in downtown Providence, RI. I thought it was such a cool idea! I had always thought that cats that lived in the city would be doomed to be inside cats forever, so I think this is great.
So unfair that Tabs enjoys the leash. I tried one with my kitty and wound up sweeping my kitchen floor….
Where did you get the kitty harness? I’ve had to use dog harnesses for my two but they aren’t the best fit. That looks like a good fit.
