DANGIT! SHOOT! DRAT! BLAST!

I’m so peeved right now… I lost another mechanical pencil. And not just any pencil. I lost my Pentel drafting pencil. My lucky drawing pencil, gah!

my favorite pencil

Where hath thou gone to, oh lucky pencil? Why art thou hiding from my firm embrace? Momma just wants to draw pictures of kitties and makeup… Is that so wrong? In the grand scheme of things, ’tis surely a noble cause.

In other news, welcome to the weekend! 🙂 I hope all is going well on your end of the keyboard. If a missing pencil is the worst part of my day, I’ll consider myself a very lucky gal.

Something BorrowedOh, I rented a movie last night that really surprised me. Something Borrowed? Have you seen it? It got a frighteningly low 14% on Rottentomatoes, but I don’t know what those critics were smoking because I thought it was much better than that. Sure, it’s probably not gonna win any Academy Awards or anything, but I thought it was one of the better rom-coms to come along in a while. Even El Hub enjoyed it, and that was after I’d talked him out of renting Captain America (so he was already a little salty).

As a friendly reminder, The 2011 Breast Cancer Awareness Month Sign Project and Giveaway ends on Monday, so please take a minute to send in your support sign and leave a comment on the original post, if you haven’t already.

And now, without further ado…

I hate when I lose my favorite pen (fine tip, gel, black ink)! It’s a beautiful Fall day in Indianapolis today – sunny & in the 50’s. Makes me shiver to see all the snow falling out East. Winter is coming! Would love to win a Sephora gc, as I am due to update my makeup shades from summer to fall/winter…

Giiiiiiiiirrrrrrllll I had one of the most scary/insane mornings! Yesterday, I drove to my hometown of Chula Vista for the weekend and I woke up to my grandma (with arthritis) kneeling on the floor of her bathroom and not being able to get up. I was doing all that I can to help her but I didn’t want to make the situation worse and make her struggle harder! Thank goodness my mom, aunt, and uncle are all nurses and are home right now because they were able to get the job done in less than a minute! Seriously, nurses are AMAZING! <3

I totally sympathize with your distress over your Pentel pencil. I have a blue Pentel mechanical pencil that I inherited from my father when I was young. He used it when he was in college getting a degree in aerospace engineering, and I’ve always considered it my lucky pencil.

Everyone was so mean to each other and I was like “Wow if my friends acted like that, I’d just move out of the state.” I think if I hadn’t pictured the scenarios playing out in real life, I would’ve had more fun with it though. Two years ago I topped all the female Christmas gifts with a mini Smashbox lipgloss. You know I made it all pretty with bows and ribbons and tied the lipgloss to it. I bought a set and split it up and I thought it was a cute idea but I’m not sure if anyone but my mom really appreciated it!

What’s your favorite romantic comedy of all time?

Never Been Kissed, I thought it was a really cute movie.

What was the most surprising part of your week?

How about sucky part? Like getting a flat tire early in the morning & not being able to call a friend because it’s too early in the a.m. and then having to replace all 4 tires because the rest are pretty well worn on top of having a sucky work week? I knew I should have renewed my Triple A membership!

Sorry mini rant, now I feel better. Have a great weekend everyone.

I’m more of a pen girl, but really I have problems with most writing implements because I’m a lefty. Until maybe a decade ago when pens with super-fast drying ink became available and cheap, I had a permanent stain on the side of my left hand from smudged ink.

And to me, the best romantic comedy ever is “When Harry Met Sally.” I love that no one in the movie has to change to find love, and the older couples at the beginning and end just melt my heart.

I can do a perfecr smokey eye with it or just use it in the crease with a pale color on the lid. It’s buttery soft and blends like the dickens. The best thing about it is that it doesn’t pull blue on me as most greys do.

I love Pentel writing instruments! I have the same mechanical pencil and I’ve used it so much the metal tip always unscrews while I’m writing. I think I grip my pens too tightly or something. Pentel always gets rids of the pen & pencil models that I like so I try to stock up when I see them. My favorite pen is/was the Pentel Hybrid Gel Roller (in black, blue, red) but I think they discontinued them. I can only find the Hybrid Gel Rollers with the rubberized grips now (no likey) or just the refills for the pens 🙁

I don’t have a lucky drafting pencil, but I’ve got a lucky pen. A certain brand, a certain color, now discontinued. Thankfully I stocked up on them a few years back, so I have some extras…but yeah. I’ve had those days where I had to find -=that pen=-! (Sure you can write a journal entry with any writing instrument; but…it isn’t the same. It’s just not.)

Last time I gave someone makeup as a gift: August 2011 (so two months ago)
Last eyeshadow I bought: the new Aromaleigh shadows
Favorite romantic comedy: I’m more of an ‘sociological science fiction’ person. I can’t remember the last romantic comedy I watched all the way through.

I have seen other people wear it and you can see distinct colors. On my skin, the only color that shows up in the light purple shade in the bottom right. Everything else is just sparkle with no color. I am bummed about it because it looks great on other people!

I drooled over the swatches you put up of the rollergirl palette far too long for me to not get it!

My favorite Rom Com would have to be “Notting Hill.” I just loved Hugh Grant (“Oopsy-daisy!”) in it and his nutty roommate, played by Rheys Ifans, stole the movie. Oh, and who could forget “Bridesmaids”? How freakin’ hysterical was Melissa McCarthy as Meghan?! Her driving that van full of puppies just killed me, LOL!!!

I didn’t really like the movie “Something Borrowed” just because I was such a HUGE fan of the books and the movie versions of books can NEVER compare (although some get quite close-like the Harry Potter series and LOTR series!!). I felt like the movie didn’t accurately portray the depth of the friendship between Darcy and Rachel-the way they were constantly competing their whole lives but truly loved each other like sisters. PS: If you can’t get enough Rachel and Dex, they make a cameo in Emily Giffin’s “Heart of the Matter”!!

I went to Sephora to buy new foundation…and walked out with two extra products! Ain’t that always the way?

I got Laura Mericer Oil-Free Foundation, Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base SPF 15, and Urban Decay’s Super-saturated Lip Color in Crush.

I’d say I regret it, but all of them have ended up being too amazing for me to take back!

I’m actually more excited about a lipgloss I bought- Rimmel’s stay glossy in Yours Forever. It looks very similar in color to Dior’s Black Tie Plum, just without the shimmer. Since it cost me about $3 instead of $30, I’m willing to forgive the lack of shimmer.

Somehow I’m still longing for Black Tie Plum, though. I think it’s the idea of owning a luxury lipgloss… I’m so materialistic!

I have a ballpoint pen from Planet Fitness that I use all the time just because it has purple ink. 🙂

What’s your favorite romantic comedy of all time?
The first one that comes to mind is “Knocked Up”.

What was the most surprising part of your week?
The six inches of SNOW that we got last night!

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Hopefully with at least one child, in our first house.

What was the last eyeshadow you purchased?
NYX Haute Look 10 color palette (i didn’t like it).

When was the last time you gave someone makeup as a gift?
Last Christmas; I gave my two best girlfriends some nail polishes.

I prefer pens to pencils, even for the Sunday crossword, but they need to have colored ink – not black! I want the words to stand out against the blah newspaper ink. Ball point is best for puzzles, but felt tip is better for marking up packages (like when I bought a box of pasta – makes sure things get rotated right. I ahve WAY too many pens on my desk right now because I want the right one for each particular application.

Yuck! I’m on the East Coast & we just got hit with a snow storm. About 3 months ago some girl ran a stop sign, totaled my car & I sprained my wrist, & I have been out of work since. Today I thought I would be a good girlfriend and help shovel all that yucky, cold, wet, white stuff on the ground. Now my wrist is sore 🙁 Sorry, just needed to vent…

One of my favorite romantic comedies is “The Philadelphia Story” – the wit and class of the oldies can’t be beat! But for modern day, I will go with “You’ve Got Mail”. It is so sweet and charming and puts me in the mood for the holidays and dreams of romantic adventures with great men like Tom Hanks!

Urban Decay has awesome names, like Baked, and I love their new Book of Shadows IV, and also their Naked palette. I also love the packaging of Too Faced products, and also the quanity you get in each palette.

I know “RottenTomatoes” is known for its movie reviews, but I can totally relate when I’ve searched a movie I like only to find that it has one of the lowest rates ever. It makes me reconsider every other rating the website has and I’m more open-minded about finding new movies to watch!
