The Tarte Lip Service Limited-Edition LipSurgence Collection and a Snickers-Fueled Sugar High

November 2nd, 2011 by Karen 66 Comments

Tarte LipSurgence in Swank on mah lips!

Believe it or not, this swatch session for the new Tarte Lip Service Limited-Edition LipSurgence Collection ($29) actually began as something somewhat normal…

tarte perky
LipSurgence in Perky

But then I had two of these tiny Snickers bars (because it’s physically impossible to have just one)…

They don’t call ’em “Fun Size” for nothin’

…and this post sorta went downhill from there. 🙂

SUGAR HIGH!

And we’re swatching, swatching, swatching, swatching…

Let’s just say there’s no Halloween candy left in the house, and leave it at that, shall we?

Details on the Tarte Lip Service Limited-Edition LipSurgence Collection

  • New for the holidays
  • Includes five full-size LipSurgence Tints and Lustres in Swank (a sheer cherry), Perky (a carnation pink), Glitzy (a shimmery golden rose), Dazzled (a shimmery pinkish coral) and Flashy (a shimmery, silvery berry)
  • They’re moisturizing, non-sticky and have a faint peppermint flavor and scent
  • They’re paraben, phthalate and SLS free
  • They also get two paws up for being cruelty free

Each single hydrating, pigmented LipSurgence usually goes for $24, so five of them for $29 is one heck of a deal. Seems like a fantastic holiday kit!

PRICE: about $29

AVAILABILITY: Available now at Sephora stores and also online

MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A+

The entire Tarte Holiday 2011 collection includes…

  • Shining Stars Limited-Edition Best Sellers Collection, $25

I have to say I’m a little disappointed. No outrageous claims featuring super-high percentages? That’s one of my favorite things about Tarte! 🙂 Seriously, though, these look fabulous. I always love your Tarte swatches and feel like I should buy a bunch of their stuff based on how much I like Smooth Operator. I think I’ll add some to my Christmas list. 🙂

Have you ever tried setting Smooth Operator with their Provocateur Powder? The combo is really nice!

No, I haven’t! My last powder product was Bare Minerals and I really didn’t like how it looked on me, so I’ve kind of avoided all powder. I’ll add Provocateur to the list. Do you like it better than MAC Careblends with Smooth Operator?

there is this spread i get at the grocery store, called a dulce de leche spread. it is awesome on crackers, toast, crunchy baguettes and on a spoon! love love!

yep, they shot it in San Antonio, Dallas and Austin. they skipped over my city (Houston), which of course sucks! but well, i do love Austin so its all good!

I took advantage of the reduced prices on Halloween candy yesterday and I bought a big bog of Snickers for $2.25! When I came home the boyfriend wents nuts (pun intended) because I did the nice thing and got him his fave candy. 🙂

I was telling someone last night that I really need to get into Tarte more. I think I hardly buy their products because they don’t offer a MUA discount.

Mmmm, I bought a bag of snickers with almonds half off on Nov 1st (immediately following a dentist appointment – no cavities!)

I’ve tried these at Sephora, and I really like them, but I don’t like peppermint flavored lip products, generally. Still better than L’Absolu Nu by Lancome – those lipsticks smell like a combination of flowers and baby powder.
