NYX Put Me in an Affectionate Mood With Their Latest $4.50 Lip Gloss

December 17th, 2011 by Karen 9 Comments

nyx mood lip gloss

“Sensory overload.”

That’s how I feel about many of NYX’s lip products due to their flavors and scents. Sometimes I think they’re just too strong, but I don’t feel that way about their new “Mood” Lip Gloss in Affectionate ($4.50), one of two new Mood Lip Glosses from NYX for the holidays (the second’s called Sensual, ooh-la-la!).

Still, Affectionate’s no lightweight when it comes to taste and scent. As soon as I remove the cap, the scent of strawberry hard candy fills the room. Subtle? Not hardly, but I find it kinda pleasant. At least I don’t think it tastes or smells synthetic, which is something, I guess.

The NYX Mood glosses take the idea of mood rings to new heights, beginning as one shade that changes to another once they’re on the lips. Affectionate starts out as a shimmery white but transforms into a natural-looking shade of shimmery pink (the pink doesn’t appear to vary for different wearers).

Its texture reminds me of a MAC Lipglass — thick and sticky — and I like the fact that it doesn’t dry out my lips.

Affectionate lasts about two hours on me, which seems pretty good for a gloss under five bucks. Not a bad way to get a quick lip fix when you don’t want to spend too much. 🙂

PRICE: $4.50
AVAILABILITY: Available now at drugstores, beauty stores and also online

I have the original NYX mood gloss and it’s one of my favorite lip products! Gives such a pretty, natural pink tint to my lips! A great “my lips but better” product!

I have one of their mood lip glosses from way back. Still haven’t cracked it open yet. I’m curious to see how the colour changes, but I’m not really looking forward to any strong strawberry scent.

i got one of the earlier NYX mood glosses from a present and i surprisingly liked it. the scent doesnt bother me all that much, and it does give a very pretty berry cast on my lips that i like!

I saw this gloss before but was kind of skeptic about it. I think I’ll give it a try after reading your blog.
