The Daphne Guinness for MAC Blush Ombres: Just as Sweet the Second Time Around

Dang, you have a great memory for MAC makeup! I should call you “Total Recall.” 🙂 Forget Sudoku and crossword puzzles; trying to recollect the first time MAC colors launched is a great brain exercise for beauty buffs.

And yes, you’re right! Two of the new Daphne Guinness for MAC Blush Ombres ($26 each) appeared last year in the Spring Colour Forecast collection. Azalea Blossom (a light cool pink) and Vintage Grape (a mid-tone violet pink) are staging a comeback, except now they cost $1 more than they did in 2010 (a sign of the times, yo).

If you missed ’em the first time around, you get a second chance. They offer the same moderate, buildable coverage they did back then, in a finish about halfway between shimmer and matte.

Each one combines two colors in the same pan, and as far as I can tell, the gradients aren’t an overspray. Swirl the two colors together to create a single shade, or keep them apart and use separately. I’m partial to wearing the lighter halves as blushes and highlighters and the darker halves for contouring.

I just love how these look on the skin. The grains are so fine that they’re almost undetectable!

MAC’s 0.31-ounce Blush Ombres cost 30 percent more than their regular 0.21-ounce Powder Blushes, but you get 50 percent more product, so in a way they’re kind of a bargain. With two shades in every pan, they’re like getting two blushes for a little more than the price of one.

PRICE: $26 each
AVAILABILITY: Coming soon to North American MAC counters and stores and online December 26; internationally in January

Look out, weekend!

WE MADE IT! Thank goodness, too, because my booty needs to sleep in…

What are you up to tomorrow? Are you all done with your holiday preparations?

I’m sure as heck not. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I’m so glad MAC is re-promoting some ombre blushes! I really want to get Azalea Blossom and hope Ripe Peach makes another round in the future again. Vintage Grape looks quite nice on you.

I’m going to take it easy this weekend, not much holiday prep for me to do. my boyfriend just received his Christmas parcel from me today. 🙂 at home, we had a rushed week last Saturday where I had to bake cookies and make layered dip for a cookie exchange and potluck the next day, so I’m glad I can relax tomorrow!

I love MAC products dont get me wrong! but my issue is i always find it way overpriced for what it actually is. I find it easier to just buy cheaper brands, they do they same job and give a great finish. Maybe it is just me and this is just my opinion. I really like the MAC items though…

Here in Brazil is not that easy to find such brand but all bloggers say that it’s perfect! I just loved this color… blush is such a necessary item of make-up.

OMG!!! I love anything in grape!!! That look on Karen is so sexy and elegant.. It is a nice evening look. I am on that blush ombre! Mac make is all that I use. It may be expensive but it is well worth it for vibrant colors and professional looks you can create. Vintage grape..These colors look so wow!!

      Hi Shelly,

I bought that at Ann Taylor years ago — 2005, I think.
