A Little Fun With MAC Mariah Carey and A LOT of High-Intensity Thanksgiving Day Recovery

November 26th, 2016 by Karen 27 Comments

Recovering with a little bit of MAC Mariah Carey
I got in some quality “me” time today with the MAC Mariah Carey collection…

Hey, babe! I hope you’re having a great weekend so far. I’m mostly taking it easy today, still recovering from the excitement of the past two days and, you know, the getting everything ready, and the cleaning the house. And the eating too much food, of course.

I think I still have a pie hangover… Is that a legit thing? Because I feel like I need to drink green smoothies every day for the next 25 years.

I’m also still recovering from that last episode of the Gilmore Girls! I watched all four of the new ones yesterday (and re-watched them again today), so if you need to talk about them, because I certainly feel like I need to talk about them, hit me up in the comments.

Wearing MAC Mariah Carey
I wonder if Mariah watches Gilmore Girls…

I also sneaked in a couple hours of solo makeup playtime in my office this afternoon because I haven’t done much more than mascara and my brows since Wednesday. I dove into MAC Mariah Carey, and no, I’m not going anywhere wearing these lashes, haha.

I wish I was…

No, actually…I totally don’t. 🙂 It’s cold and rainy here. I’d MUCH rather just eat leftovers and watch Gilmore Girls again on the couch.

So I’m wearing the cooler toned quad in these pics (It’s Everything), the coral blush (Sweet Sweet Fantasy), Dahhlinggg! Lipstick and Butterfly Bling Lipglass. And lashes, of course — the 05s.

The more I wear these lashes, BTW, the more I’m convinced that I need to get a couple more pairs when the collection comes out on Dec. 8. I really like ’em.

OK, I’m off to re-watch the new Gilmore Girls “Spring” episode again. Have a great night. If you have a minute, say hi in the comments and let me know how you’re doing.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. A Thanksgiving Day feast. I ate all of this…

P.P.S. Well, not all of it…but I ate a lot.

    I love your eye makeup!

It looks like you had a yummy dinner. I didn’t cook for T day. I just had leftover ziti.

      Hi Agata,

We had two kinds of pie, peacan and pumpkin, and a leche flan, which is like our version of creme brulee.

Did you guys host this year? I hope you’re enjoying your weekend so far.

That purple eyeshadow look is gorgeous! I’m still gathering my feelings about Gilmore Girls… some parts were great and others were too slow. The ending shocked me…

I still haven’t processed the ending. Right after it happened I screamed WHHHHAT!

It seems a lot of people are very upset about gilmore girls, I get it, but the result is I think what I expected. I’d love to see more resolution with Jess, but it seems that’s where she was going, and it makes sense in a full circle way with Logan comparable to Christopher and Jess to Luke (obviously). The wedding and Life and Death Brigade scenes were beautiful, the Wild stuff was lovely, and the cameos from Bunheads and Parenthood were fun. It could have been so much worse.

Yeah, I felt some of it was… I wasn’t really upset, but it just took me a while to process everything. It felt like some things were forced, and it felt like they had to do those things because of the time constraints with the actors (like the whole Sookie story line seemed kind of ridiculous). I did like how the writers had the guts to show very flawed main characters, though.

Looks like a great Thanksgiving feast, Karen! I would love to try those Filipino noodles and egg rolls (are they vegetarian? or seafood, no land meat?)

I nearly died of sugar OD yesterday at Friendsgiving after having a slice of pecan pie AND a slice of apple pie, lol… how the guy sitting next to me managed to eat a slice of all four pies, I’ll never know, but I saw him do it!

    Those lashes are gorgeous…

I agree Fran! Would love to try those recipes. So Karen, where do we find the recipes??

Is it hard to work with lashes? I think they look fabulous but …… And love your look.

        Hey Sandy,

Here’s a link to some recipes. I haven’t tried these exact recipes yet, but I’ve made these specific recipes, but from a quick glance they have ingredients similar ingredients to the ones my mom uses so it should taste OK.

        This one’s for pancit!

        http://www.russianfilipinokitchen.com/2014/11/05/easy-pancit-bihon-recipe/

And this one’s for the lumpia.

        http://numnums.com/recipes/771/tita-menchu-s-beef-lumpia

The lashes are so easy to work with. I’m really picky about my false lashes, I don’t like them to be difficult to put on and these weren’t a struggle. I cut them down a little bit because they’re a little long (I cut just a smidge off the inner portion), and then I plopped them right on!

      Hi Fran,

The Filipino noodles we ate, the pancit, had chicken, shrimp and sausage, but you can totally make a vegetarian version. Same thing with the egg rolls. Both dishes are those kinds where every family has their own recipe, so there’s a lot of variation. For the egg rolls, my mom usually does ground beef with peas, carrots, corn and green beans, but she’s made shrimp version for me before, and she’s also made it vegetarian. So you can totally customize it and make it your own.

Let me look around to see if I can find some recipes for you to modify.

WOW! Your eyes are to die for! Good for you for having “Karen” time to play with makeup! Yes, a sugar hangover is REAL!! Drink a lot of h2o. Your good looks amazing…I actually teared up this year (couldnt celebrate with family) because i missed that exact green bean casserole! And crescent rolls! 🙂

I honestly didn’t know that sugar hangovers were real things. Thanks for the advice on drinking lots of water! I’m on my second big jug as I type this!

I’m sorry you didn’t get to celebrate with your family this year, but there’s always next year, right? Oh, and P.S. Crescent rolls! Are you talking about the Pillsbury ones from a can? Those are SO GOOD! I never thought to have them with dinner before because I usually have them at breakfast.

Love the eye makeup! Especially those lashes!!! I’m gonna need a pair of those.
Don’t tell me the ending of GG!! We’ve only managed to find time to watch the first episode. Dear Daughter is busy visiting with college and high school friends who are in the area for the weekend, so she only spent T-Day and a few hours on Friday with me/us.
Still stuffed from T-Day. Went to Warriors game last night and I had a salad from the Kaiser food booth. All that arena food and I’m eating a kale salad at the game! Lol. But I seriously need to eat just greens and veggies for the next eleventy billion weeks.
Man I want some of that pancit (I love noodles in any shape and form) and lumpia. Looks so yummy!!

Girl, good for you for eating kale salad at a basketball game. I wouldn’t have been able to say no to all the fried potatoes! I hope you guys had fun.

I promise not to say a word about Gilmore Girls. When you’re ready, you and I will have to discuss.

I really like that look! It’s too dark for me, well maybe for an evening soiree.. I cooked this year for Thanksgiving, although your food looks a lot tastier! I love the Filipino food! My husband makes the Japanese version of those spring rolls. Yum, I am going to beg him to make them this week. Btw, I’m cooking dinner now-broccoli cheddar soup from (skinnytaste.com). Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

lovely look Karen! And, OMG!!!!!! why did they leave it with that kind of a cliff hanger? Either it’s Logan’s baby or she is being a surrogate for her Mom and LUke? AHHH!

I think they need to make another year in the life and call it season 2…
Oh I had tears in my eyes lol, when Logan and Rory broke up..
