7 Ways to Win a $50 eGift Card From Sephora! (Ends Monday)

November 9th, 2013 by Karen 516 Comments

A Makeup and Beauty Blog giveaway

A Makeup and Beauty Blog Sephora Giveaway!

Good mornin’, glory.

How’s it going today, babe? Did you do anything exciting last night? I got a bowl of soup, a grilled cheese sandwich and went to a movie.

Exciting, right? I know! 🙂

Yup, El Hub and I got soup and sandwiches for dinner at Panera Bread and then went to see Ender’s Game up here in Novato. I loved the book when I read it many years ago, especially the battle room scenes, which I still remember, and I think the movie did it justice. The boy who plays Ender, Asa Butterfield, did a great job. Seriously, that kid’s got acting chops.

About that NARS pic at the top, I had all of those products previously organized by collection and date, but I decided to try something different yesterday, because I never wear things like that — all of the holiday 2010 products together or spring 2011. I just don’t do it. So instead, I separated everything by type of product into Ziploc bags. The duos with duos, singles with singles, like that.

I’m hoping it motivates me to explore some older products.

I don’t really have anything planned this weekend. My brother and his girlfriend may come over tomorrow night to watch The Walking Dead with us, but that’s about it. I feel like I need to get some stimulus out of the house, so I may head to the Corte Madera mall this afternoon. We’ll see.

Whatever you’re up to, I hope you have a great day. Good luck in this weekend’s giveaway.

My natural hair color is incredibly dark brown (just for reference, people ask me if I dye my hair black all the time, it’s that dark), and I decided about a year and a half ago that I wanted purple hair. HOWEVER, I’m a pretty lazy person when it comes to hair, so what I did was bleach about 5 inches of the bottom part (my hair is long btw!), and dye it a deep, dark purple. I absolutely *loved* it. It would gradually fade into a beautiful magenta-fuchsia color, and then I would re-dye it, and it’d be my dark purple again. It was great, and I loved it, but as I previously mentioned, I am a lazy hair person, and I was *SO* tired of everything being purple.. it stained the shower curtain, the tub, so many t-shirts, towels, etc., etc.

I stuck with it for about a year (a little over, actually), and a couple months ago, I got my ends cut off.. g’bye purple! Sometimes I miss it, but on the whole, I’m pretty relieved I don’t have to re-dye my hair every so often, LOL.

The last time I got flowers was on an anniversary a couple of years ago (2? 3? I can’t remember)… when my bf and I started dating, a friend showed me how to dry the flowers he gave me, so I made a habit of doing so – and now, almost 10 years later, I have a flower or two from every bouquet he ever gave me laying around the house 🙂

Hi Karen! I enjoyed Ender’s Game as well, but the ending didn’t feel like an ending to me. I liked Thor: The Dark World much better. I shopped the VIB Sephora sale and was heartbroken that the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette sold out so quickly. Otherwise I scored everything on my list save for some gifts I want to order online. I’m currently perplexed as while my wonderful boyfriend really likes wearing cologne (and that’s an easy gift for him! He’s into scents by John Varvatos and Polo Ralph Lauren), he refuses to wear any sort of lip balm on his chapped lips. I can’t even talk him into Chapstick! Maybe a Jack Black balm might suit him better, but it hurts to just look at his poor chapped lips. Sigh.

I just found your blog last week, and I love it! I’ve been going through old entries reading all your reviews. I have your exact same skin tone, so I love that I can get a good estimate of how products will look on me by looking at your pictures. Most popular beauty bloggers are way too white for me to compare myself to, so I’m glad I’ve come across you. Keep on doing what you’re doing! (I also love all your cat pictures. I thought about starting a blog for a hot second until I realized it’d pretty much just be pictures of my dog.)

At the beginning of my junior year of high school I had bright BRIGHT blue hair. The best part about it however was that we had over-bleached my hair so, at the end of every class, there would be a small pile of blue hairs on top of my desk. Luckily I’ve always had a pretty full head of hair! 😛

The last bridge we crossed was the Lenny Zakim in Boston at around 1 AM on our way to pick up our son. He was stopped in construction traffic and got rear-ended by a person doing 45 mph. Thankfully he and his friend were okay, just some bumps and soreness. His car did not survive.

Thanks for the great giveaway! 🙂
When was the last time you gave someone flowers?
    – Back in High School on Valentines Day Event. It was just for fun for my friends.

Do you eat ice cream in winter?
    – Absolutely! It’s fun and daring! Even tastes better!

Do you have a favorite hair mask?
    – I hop around to try different products. But currently my favourite is Kerastase Nutritive Hair Mask. Smells AMAZING!

What was the last bridge you crossed?
    – Mmm, Oak Bridge?

Have you ever had multicolored hair?
    – Not sure if this one counts. I dyed my hair in Dark Brown half a year ago and currently growing out of it. So top half of my hair is my natural black colour and bottom half is Dark Brown. Planning to do a ombre look in future.

What’s the longest you’ve ever had your nails?
    – 1 Month! GROSS! But had to because I was on a vacation at LA. I’m very picky with the nail salons that I try. Yelp’s my best friend.

Last time I gave flowers to someone was for a very good friends bday. I baked her my extra-special Pistacio Cake, bday card and left it on her doorstep (well wrapped in foil) with a bunch of a bouquet of white hydrangas from my garden. I took extra pleasure in doing this for her this year as she will be moving out of state next year and this is the last year I can leave a surprise on her doorstep.

The last time I gave someone flowers was at the end of September. My cousin was getting married and as a wedding gift I took care of all the flowers — from the centerpieces to boutonnieres & even her bouquet. I used to handle sales & marketing for a wedding floral design company so I spent the day with their lead floral designer shopping for and making her flowers. It was so much fun and one of the most “from the heart” gifts I could’ve come up with!

    Well…
I could answer to every question… But I’m going to tell you why I eat ice cream during winter. (I also do in summer, but this is a different subject.)

I live in Paris, not far from a famous place called “L’ile Saint-Louis”, behind the Notre-Dame Cathedral.
And there is a fantastic and very well-know “glacier” there, called “Berthillon”. (Try it once in your life girls, really!)

There is nothing more romantic than sharing a vanilla ice-cream with your love by night, on the gate in front of the Seine.
And thanks to physics, night falls at about 5:30 PM during winter…
So I – sorry we ^^ – do it at least once a week after college and before going back to home… to study of course. ^^

Lots of love and keep it up, I totally love your blog!
