Opulent Opalescence: The Chanel Les Perles de Chanel Collection for Spring 2011

Chanel Les Perles de Chanel Collection for spring 2011

Don your best tweed jacket and pearls, ma chérie (and dab No. 5 on your pulse points), because it’s time to say bonsoir to the new Chanel Les Perles de Chanel makeup collection.

There’s plenty of photographic evidence that proves our girl Coco wore a lot of pearls. In point of fact, she practically dripped in them because she believed their delicate glow enhanced a woman’s natural beauty.

Her heirs apparent at Chateau Chanel must agree. Remembering how much Coco loved pearls, they created the Les Perles collection for spring 2011, with its preponderance of pearly finishes destined to impart natural-looking luminosity to cheeks, eyes, lips and nails.

Since he joined the team — nay, the movement! — Chanel Global Creative Director Peter Philips has done a fantastic job (in my opinion) keeping Gabby’s spirit and her iconic style alive, and, with Les Perles de Chanel (just look at those shades of black, gray and white!), he’s done it again.

Les Perles is coming next month to Chanel counters but is available now on chanel.com.

Chanel Les Perles de Chanel Spring 2011

Here’s a brief look at a few items from the collection, with more to follow over the coming days. 🙂

Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Espiegle ($42) — A warm peachy pink blush with a subtle golden sheen. It reminds me a little of NARS Orgasm in the pan but applies lighter, with a less frosty finish, and it gives my cheeks a soft, candlelit glow.

Rouge Coco Lipstick in Jersey Rose ($30) — Is it wrong to refer to this lipstick as The Jersey Shore? Yes…Yes, I think it is. Terribly wrong. Jersey Rose is a long-lasting, moisturizing peachy pink with a sultry satin finish, and it lends a lovely hint of shine to the lips.

Rouge Allure Lipstick in Flamboyante ($32) — As soon as I slipped into Flamboyante I said, “Wow! That’s a straight-up red!” Chanel describes it as an intense pink, but it looks more reddish pink on me.

Levres Scintillantes Glossimer in Aragonite ($27) — What it lacks in pigment, Aragonite makes up for in sparkle. This glittery gloss, with a name Jason (of the Argonauts) would love, looks like crushed pearls in a tube! Look closely, and you may see flecks of purple, pink, blue and gold.

Le Crayon Yeux in Gris Scintillant ($28): A gunmetal gray with silver glitter. I think of it as a naughty alternative to a basic black liner.

Do you see anything you like?

Swoon worthy!! Flamboyante looks amazing on you!!! I’ve seen pics of ther eye shadow palettes and they are fab!The glossimer looks very similiar to Constellation glossimer–with maybe a little less pink sparkles? I better start saving my pennies because it looks I need it all!

Karen, you look fabu with these Chanel colors! I love everything! I’ll take one of each please. The eye liner looks really nice. Does it go on smoothly? I have the Chanel waterproof and it doesn’t tug, but it’s not as smooth and creamy as my Urban Decay liners. Thanks for sharing!

I ordered the quint and Black pearl nail polish, but I am going to get the quad, more nail polishes, Coquette lippy and definitely the blush (it looks FAB on you!!). I thought my wallet would be safe until January, but couldn’t believe how Chanel released it so early!! Grr

Karen, these colors look really gorgeous on you! Of course, you know I love my Chanel! I really like the look of the lipsticks and the eyeliner. I’ll have to try these out when they arrive at my Chanel counter. Does the eyeliner apply smoothly? I have Chanel waterproof liners and they don’t tug, but they’re not as smooth/creamy as my Urban Decay 24/7 liners. Thanks for sharing!

ZOMG! That quad looks right up my alley. I’m also interested in the quint. I’m so happy to be getting excited about Chanel again. I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve liked a collection as a whole. Some new products have been rave-worthy, but collections-wise I haven’t seen anything as exciting as this in a while! 😀

Omg Karen – I am in love with this collection I have been letting quite a few Chanel collections because they are too similar to past collex – I have the quint and black pearl polish !!! I just got it last night! I was in macys here in ny ( herald sq) buying my sisters compact pressed powder from the Chanel counter and there it was in all it’s luminescent glory!!! The quint is gorgeous exudes class – typical chanel and the polish I haven’t swatched yet but in the bottle looks so unique!!! I would call your nearby counters!!

    Hugs Karen !!!

    Hi Karen.
Am looking for an eye kohl in grey.
I used to have one from Lancome, gris, which had a color that I absolutely loved but it just won’t stay on so I started searching for another one.
The problem I’ve had however is that the ones I’ve tried have been way too cool and for the eyes I need warm colors.
Do you have any tips? Would Le Crayon Yeux in Gris Scintillant work?

Have you tried Chanels eye kohl in Ambre btw, oh, I love that color!

You do realize that every lipstick color known to man looks fabulous on you, right?! 🙂

I love the Glossimer in Aragonite (has that LOTR thing on with the name). I’m actually giggling trying to picture what Coco’s reaction might have been to the Jersey Shore. 🙂

Karen how does Flamboyante compare to Cambon Rouge Coco?? They look very similar. I LOVE Cambon but I don’t think I need two different formulas of the same shade. I would also love to hear how Jersey Rose compares to some other pink Rouge Cocos. Thanks!!!!!

The collection is out! I accidentally (yeah right, who am I kidding, I made a bee-line for the Chanel counter) came across it the day it came out at my local Century store. I bought the black perle polish and jersey rose lipstick, but I went home, thought about the rest and decided I want the white perle polish as well and the pressed powder – which is really lovely.
