BLL Cases Rising, Authorities Suspect LORAC Couture Shine in Sheer Luxe to Blame

August 24th, 2012 by Karen 20 Comments

There’s no known cure. That’s what we know so far.

The CDC confirms that the rate of infection has climbed recently, as it usually does this time of year.

The clinical term is labium lignum unum labium adjectio, but it’s commonly known as BLL, or Bold Lip Lust, and it’s spreading like wildfire, especially among members of the makeup community.

People at highest risk of infection often 1) spend too much time at Sephora under the guise of “research” or 2) have been exposed to LORAC’s Couture Shine Liquid Lipstick in Sheer Luxe ($22, and part of LORAC’s permanent line).

Spreadable without a lip liner or lip brush, symptoms of this moisturizing burgundy wine include…

  1. A glossy finish
  2. Hydrated, full lips (due to the presence of hyaluronic acid)
  3. Smooth, nourished lips (due to the presence of jojoba and sweet almond oils)

Authorities advise people to risk exposure. 🙂

A layer applied with the stubby brush applicator, which is similar to the brush that comes with the NARS Larger Than Life Lipglosses, instantly glamorizes smokey or cat eyes, but I think it’s also gorgeous with bare lids and massive mascara.

LORAC Couture Shine in Sheer Luxe

  • One of nine shades in LORAC’s permanent Couture Shine line
  • Feels a lot like a non-sticky, medium-weight gloss and reminds me of a thicker version of the MAC Cremesheens
  • Semi-transparent coverage
  • Has a faint brown sugar flavor and scent that, thankfully, doesn’t taste synthetic or cloying
  • Lasts 4-5 hours

PRICE: $22 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Sephora stores, Ulta and ulta.com

Oh my God, how glamorous can you look!!! This is insane!

The gloss looks good! I think it’s great for people who don’t want to go all out but want something bolder!

Pretty! Love the sheer pop of berry/wine color. It’s so incredibly chic but doesn’t look like you’re trying too hard. I NEED this!

Gorgeous! Perfect for fall/winter! Sadly, the local Sephora doesn’t have a Lorac counter anymore. But i’ll get this anyway :).

I’ve been infected for a while and BLL has proven to be quite contagious.

Yikes!! Count me as one of the affected — I’ve always been intrigued by LORAC’s glosses, but the cream finish of this one makes me want to run to a Sephora counter, STAT.

(Try as I might, I don’t think shimmery glosses are ever really going to be for me!)

I’ve been infected many years ago, and proud of it!

Very pretty. Speaking of Lorac, not sure if you already commented about the Lorac Pro eyeshadow pallet yet, but if not, can I just say that it rocks?!? The colors are beautiful & has staying power. I like it even better than my Urban Decay Naked 2 pallet which is saying a lot!

I’d wear this, it looks great. I like that it’s semi-transparent. That is what makes this wearable for me 🙂

Thanks, Lenita! I used a wide-barrel curler from Revlon. So simple and easy!

I hope you give this shade a go. Happy Tuesday!
