It’s Glow Time with the Pacifica Island Glow Beautiful Body Kit

June 21st, 2011 by Karen 33 Comments

When my eyes lighted upon the Pacifica Island Glow Beautiful Body Kit at Sephora last Sunday, I felt like a tourist browsing shops along a beach-side promenade. I was “just looking around” at the time (haha, we all know how that usually goes), and before I knew it, I was clutching the cute box in my hands!

The $24 kit comes with four of Pacifica’s newest products to buff, moisturize and make summer skin sparkle…

  • Kona Coffee & Sugar Detox Whole Body Scrub — I like this one a latte. 🙂 First, the granulated sugar, powdered coffee seed and sea salt buff the skin, before the safflower, soybean and coconut oils moisturize it into blissful submission. I prefer to use it while my skin is dry, so I’ll bring it into the tub with me to exfoliate before turning on the shower. After rinsing, it leaves behind a light but moisturizing film and a heavenly dark chocolate coffee scent. I love using this in the morning and then can’t wait to have a cup of coffee when I’m done.
  • Coconut Crushed Pearl Luminizing Body Butter — Pacifica was not shy with the shimmery mica in this coco-nutty body butter. It feels a little thinner and less moisturizing than most of their body butters, but I love the scent and how it makes me look like I just stepped out from under a shower of silver shimmer.
  • Coconut Crushed Pearl Bronzing Body Butter — Without a tan, I might worry about this leaving light orange streaks on my legs. Like a darker, bronze version of Pacifica’s Luminizing Body Butter, it might not be a perfect fit for lighter lovelies (maybe if you just use a little for a hint of color and shine), but it should sing from the rafters on tanned temptresses and darker divas.
  • Coconut Pearls Lip Quench — NOM! This smooth, non-sticky lip balm imparts a subtle sheen while kissing lips with a moisturizing coconut macaroon flavor, and tempting noses with the same yummy scent.

Par for the course when it comes to Pacifica, the products are also cruelty-free, which gets two paws up from MBB’s resident husky tabby/amateur golfer. 🙂

The products in the kit are almost like accessories for summer dresses, skirts and shorts. Heck, if you’re gonna show some skin, why not shimmer while you’re at it?

PRICE: $24

I saw the words ‘Pacifica’ and ‘coconut’ and I was sold. I hope they sell these items separately too, though, because I just cannot do bronzer.

      Hi, Alaina.

I, also can not do bronzer, so I was able to get a travel size of the regular crushed pearl body butter to try out. It’s really beautiful on pale skin, as is the lip balm. Everything is available separately.

I had a feeling you’d be on this Donkey Kong, LOL!

BTW, I thought of you the other day… I had this AMAZING coconut cupcake that was to die for. I almost passed out after eating it because it was that good.

Was it the one from Kara’s?!! I have had that cupcake!!!! When we went to SF we went to ghiardeli square, got cupcakes and then sat outside the wine tasting place with a glass of wine, listened to the great live music and people watched. It was an awesome day. I wanna go back!!

I’m obsessed with coconut. However, when I tried and smelled the coconut Body Butter from Pacifica it smelled strange to me. I do want to get the perfume spray because I think it was awesome.

I’m wondering, though, with this set do you have problems with that coffee scrub dissolving in the shower? I’d assume not since you mentioned it, but scrubs I’ve had with coffee don’t dissolve like the salt / sugar ones do. I’m probably going to buy this anyway since I’m such a sucker for all things coconut! 🙂

      Hi Liz,

Is this the Indian Body Butter scent you’re referring to? I think I know what you mean. It has a little bit of a caramel note to it that I think sweetens it up.

As for the scrub, it doesn’t dissolve in the shower, but that’s what I like about it. My skin needs a lot of exfoliating and it does a great job of buffing out the scaly bits. So far I haven’t had any trubs with it clogging the pipes (knock on wood).

All of that sounds yummy and all but… all I can say is, “Wooptie woop!!” 🙂 I just ordered your lipglass, although I’m on a lil cosmetic budget, ahem, I had to make an exception here and splurge on that gaaaawgus color you’ve created. Can’t wait to rock it! Congrats!!

      Hi Vanessa,

I’m so happy to hear that you made an exception for EvRev. 🙂 I hope that you’ll be able to wear it with EVERYTHING so that you get the most out of your moolah.

      Have a great Wednesday!

I just got this set and I’m loving the lip quench! It smells like roasted coconut and reminds me of Samoa girl scout cookies. The body butters are a little too shimmery for me, but I do like the color of the bronzing body butter as it is not too orange or too dark for my porcelain skin.

Karen, have you ever tried Pacifica’s soy candles? They are amazing!

      MMM, Girl Scout Samoa Cookies…

Ya know, I keep meaning to pick up a candle but every time I get to the Pacifica section I get so distracted by everything else. Which scent is your favorite?

I just picked up a candle in Thai Lemongrass and it’s become my fave. It is the perfect fresh, citrus-y scent for summer.

I got the bronzing cream and it is AWESOME on my tanned olive hide. (Yes, it’s tan, I drive a convertible and I live in Florida and I like the beach. I know, I’ll be an alligator bag by the time I’m 45.)

It is not for the glitter-shy, though. This is not shimmer. It is GLITTER.

FULL ON GLITTER! I feel so wonderfully disco when I have it on. Looks so pretty on shoulders and legs!

BTW, I visited Florida a few years ago for my BFF’s wedding (Boca Raton and Key West). You guys have lovely beaches.

I bought the Bronzing Body Butter at Sephora today after reading your review, and I LOVE the smell. I’m a little confused about how much to apply though, do I use as much as a regular moisturizer? I think my skintone is the same as yours, Karen.

This is the best scrub! I tried the body butter but it was a bit too shimmery for my taste.
