MAC Cosmetics Gold Fever Product Pictures and Swatches

September 25th, 2008 by Karen 32 Comments

MAC’s new Gold Fever collection, exclusive to Nordstrom stores, joins a couple other big MAC releases today (Suite Array and Cremesheen).

As the name implies, Gold Fever is all about peaches and cream…

Just kidding. It’s gold, girls — and silver — and a whole lotta disco glitter, yes!

The complete product list:

Slimshines ($14.50)

  • Voile: Canary yellow with gold pearl (Frost)
  • Missy: Creamy pastel coral (Cream)

Shadesticks ($16.50)

  • Penny: Light pinky copper
  • Sharkskin: Shimmering grayed black

Liquidlast Liners ($16.50)

  • Classic Cream: White gold
  • Auto Orange: Rusted copper with pearl

Fluidline ($15)

  • Blacktrack: Solid flat black

Pigments ($17.50)

  • Golden Lemon: Bright Lemon gold with shimmer (Frost)
  • Silver Fog: Platinum silver (Pearl)

Glitter ($17.50)

  • Gold: Sparkling chunky gold
  • 3D Silver: Holographic multi-coloured effects on a silver base

Brushes ($17-$23)

  • 209 Eyeliner Brush ($17)
  •

  • #242 Shader Brush ($23)

Lashes ($12)

  • #3 Lashes
  • #34 Lashes

If you eat glitter for breakfast and love flashy club makeup, you’ll probably love the glitter and sparkle Gold Fever has to offer. The big glitter and flashy metallic colors aren’t really my regular style, so I may not pounce on Gold Fever right away, but I don’t know… How frickin’ awesome is that outfit the model’s wearing in the Gold Fever promo pic?

I lurve the poofy gold dress and those wicked forehead jewels (I bet they shoot lasers!). Imagine how fierce your shoes would have to be to go with that get up. LE SIGH!

If I could pull it off, I’d totally roll around looking like that 24-7, LOL!

Not really my cup o’ cosmetic tea, but I really love imagining the fierce boots girlfriend would have to be rockin’ with that outfit! And I would so wear those forehead jewels if they shot lasers! 😀

Pia, I want the Sharkskin too. It looks so fabulous!
Though I do have to admit, Penny isn’t half bad.

    Thanks for the swatches!

Wow. I woke up to MAC overload on this site (totally not complaining!). This collection really isn’t doing much for me, although I might buy one of the pigments, both of the gold ones look nice. I love the 3d silver glitter, but I have absolutely no use for it, so it’s probably best I don’t buy it 🙂

    Hi Glosslizard,

Yeah, either some really great over the knee boots or some beautiful strappy sandals! Which of course, don’t hurt at all when she’s outrunning the bad guys (as her forehead jewels continuously shoot lasers).

    Hi Pia,

Yea, that’s probably the only thing that it’s calling to me. It will be pretty layered under Club, I’m guessing.

    Hi Brittany,

It’s kind of neat looking — very big glitter and very club kid. But yeah, I have NO IDEA where I’d wear that. Unless it’s to Safeway to buy bananas…

Hi Karen – Slightly off topic, but still on MAC subject, do you know where I can still find the limited edition Alexander McQueen lipglasses from earlier this year? There is 1 color I LOVE (the light pink) and of course only got 1 tube and am almost out. Boooo!

    Thanks!

    Hi Vampyvarnish,

Sometimes they’ll have random things from past collections on the MAC site. Try popping the name of the product into the search function. Another thing you could do is call a nearby Cosmetic Company Store and ask if they have the product in (I heard there’s a CCO in the Embarcadero… I haven’t been, but that could be a good place to start). And there’s also always ebay, but I’m very wary of purchasing stuff from there ’cause of all the horror stories I’ve heard of fake MAC. Hope this helps!

I recently noticed that Penny, Auto Orange, Brassy and Silverstroke are all perm items that were recently discontinued. And yet they’re in a collection launch. A sly plot to move unwanted product faster?

Shame on you MAC! We figured it out.

I like the loose pigment, especially golden lemon. It’s hard to pull-off and definitely not work appropriate, but used correctly could be extremely flirty! I think I’d use the loose pigments on other parts besides just my face. I’d get a big loose brush and highlight collarbones, the sexy spot between the girls if I was wearing something low-cut, or my cheekbones.

I don’t think I’d like the slimshines since it looks like they both have gold undertones which never look good on my lips.

Thanks for this, you’ve saved me a trip to sephora countless times! (: Hope you’re having a good one!

    Hi Ms. Britt,

Yay! I’m glad to have helped. You do bring up a very good use for the pigments — they’re great highlighters and I forget that they can be used in that way.

    Have a great Friday!

That’s lookin’ very gold to me! I think this is one of the collections that is pretty to look at but may be a bit too sparkly on. One product at a time would sound more wearable, tho 🙂 By the way, have you ever tried Classic Cream e/l? I’ve been thinking about buying it for a while already as it’s sooo pretty but haven’t got it just yet.. just wondering whether it’s worth the $$$..

And you’re very welcome! Haha, good to hear you know how to channel your pervy creative tendencies into makeup good and writing rather than into something evil, LOL! 😀

You’re so right. I should enjoy every single second of my freedom as I know I have plenty of years left for working and being a responsible adult. Nevertheless, in the meanwhile I should have something more useful to do than sleeping till noon and well, doing nothing. 😀 I’ve applied for several jobs so I’m *hoping* to hear some good news during October.. Will keep you posted.:)

Sounds like you’ll be having a weekend full of fun and friends! Brilliant! Tea party as a bachelorette party sounds civilized and fun! If I ever get married I would like to keep the bachelorette party very low key without crazy partying. With you getting the beauty prizes it should be even more exciting! What are you planning on getting for the winners? Can only imagine all the goodies! 🙂 I hope you’ll have a fabulous evening together! Congrats to the bride-to-be!

I’m meeting some friends for coffee this weekend but other than that there are no special plans. Most likely the weekend’ll involve some cleaning, DVDs and walking the dogs. Talk to you later & have fun!

Thanks! I like using my pervy creative tendencies for makeup good, not evil, LOL!

OH girrrrl, enjoy the time you have not working. I know I say this to you all the time, but once you get into the working groove life suddenly starts to feel very adult, and inevitable all the adult things that come with work (ie bills, responsibility) start to roll in too. Blech!

Things on this end are pretty good! I am looking forward to the weekend. This Saturday my friends and I are throwing a bachlorette party for a friend who is getting married in November. It’s going to be a tea party so it should be fun. We’re going to have a bunch of games and I’m in charge of the prizes. You bet that winners are gonna get cute beauty stuff! 🙂 Anything new with you?

    Hi Aleks,

Yeah, I agree. All together it’s a bit much. Regarding the Classic Cream eye liner, hmmm… it’s Liquid Last, which isn’t my favorite formulation. I do like the staying power, but I have a hard time with the execution. It’s not the easiest liner to use.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. I hope you get a job that you like and enjoy, but is one that still challenges you intellectually.

I’m off to the the party in a few. I did all the prize gift bags last night, and I hope the winners won’t be disappointed! There’s lots of nail polish and other fun body care stuff. 🙂

Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll chat with ya soon!
