Say Hi, Shine, with the Jemma Kidd Hi-Shine Glossticks

August 25th, 2010 by Karen 23 Comments

jemma kidd hi-shine glosstick review

Some cats possess talent; others are possessed by it. When that happens, as the great Rod Serling once said, “a talent becomes a curse.”

Imagine, if you would, a cat with sharp claws resting on an air mattress (the same one you’ve been sleeping on since your in-laws arrived).

This cat has a talent for destruction…

…and for keeping me awake at night.

As sleep deprived as I’ve been these past two weeks, I’d be a heck of a lot grumpier if it weren’t for Jemma Kidd’s new Hi-Shine Glossticks ($25 each, available in five shades).

Inspired by the beautiful colors of beachy Barbados, these hydrating lipstick/gloss hybrids contain nifty light reflective particles to go with their SPF 15. The particles create the illusion of fuller lips, making them great for gals looking for a little lip boost.

Do you remember the MAC Slimshines (now discontinued)? If you liked those, I think you might also like these. They have a similarly thin, sheer, slick texture — unflavored and unscented — and both last about the same 60-90 minutes on my lips.

I’ve been wearing shimmery peach Sugar Cane off and on for a few days…

The Jemma Kidd Make Up School line, carried at Space NK stores (and online), is like the higher end version of the JK Jemma Kidd line available at Target.

I love the way this Sugar Cane looks, and it sure feels great on my lips (also, I love the addition of SPF), but I think I’d love it and the rest of Jemma’s Glossticks A LOT more if they were about $10 less… Available now at Space NK stores and online.Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+

I agree with you on that price. ouch! Otherwise I mean the delivery system is perfect for the beach or other summer venues. Look cute putting it on with that packaging, look cute wearing it, and look cute when you’re old thanks to the SPF too!

Do we all have a “destruction-cat” ? my tiger-cat did the same thing a couple of weeks ago, when some friends of mine were on a visit… poor impression :-/

And of course, I like the packaging too. There isn’t nothing like this in Germany I think!

    Hookah! I so <3 Lafayette!

I have been eyeballing the JK display at my local Target – maybe it is high time for me to grab something from it.

I love the packaging on this line – so classy!

I love that tube. I’m such a sucker for packaging. Oh, and the Glosstick looks nice too. Of course, my favorite portion was Tabs’ “Hookah”. What a sassy boy! 🙂

Yep, it would definitely be better $10 less. Although, the packaging sure is fierce.

The packaging is really beautiful, but not enough to justify the price. Yikes!

Oh, I love the look of those! I love lipstick/lipgloss hybrids. My faves are Benefit Silky Finish lipsticks. I am a bit put off by the price, but at least these do have SPF (I don’t think the Benefit lipsticks have an SPF). I’ll have to check these out for sure. Thanks for sharing and sending some good sleep vibes your way!

*Weeps holding her Scant Slimshine*; the pain hasn’t quite faded yet. *Sobs, realizing that Targhay doesn’t exist in Canadia*. I think I need a hanky Karen. Sigh.
