How’s it going, girl? 🙂 What are you up to today, and are you doing anything for Easter this weekend?
Can’t say I have anything exciting on the agenda (other than hopefully watching Hot Tub Time Machine), but we are driving out to visit my parents in the East Bay tomorrow morning. I’m looking forward to seeing them and getting out of dodge for the day.
Anywho, here’s a video look at the Tweezerman for Benefit collection of tools for cute brows and lashes.
For more on the Tweezerman for Benefit collection…
NOTE: The pattern on the slanted tip tweezer in the video is supposed to be yellow and not orange or pink (something goofy happened to the color in that part of the clip).

Okay, so the name’s kinda cheesy/pervy, but don’t let that scare you away. I got blown at the Blo Bar in San Francisco yesterday, and I can’t wait to go back. It’s completely legit and involves two of my favorite things: efficiency and fabulous hair.

The one I visited is the first to open down here in the States, but there are nine (soon to be 10) other Blo Bars in Canada.

The exterior of Blo Bar SF… they’re so new that they don’t have a sign yet!
Their schtick? No cuts, no color — just a fantastic 30-minute wash/blowout/style for $33 bucks (not including tip).
It may sound a little pricey at first, I mean for something so temporary, but after I did the beauty math 🙂 I think it makes a certain kind of sense.

The inside of the salon
My usual salon charges upwards of $50 for the same thing — a wash and blowout — and they require an appointment sometimes as far as a week out. Blo Bars, however, take walk-ins (as well as appointments), so they’re great for last-minute events when you want a fresh style.

I’ve been counting down the days until the season premiere of Glee (April 13!). Yes, I’m shamelessly addicted to a show about misfit high school choir members. 🙂
Oh, the writing’s beyond top notch. Plus, there’s catchy music AND flawed characters? Sign. Me. Up!
One of my favorite characters on the show is the quirky guidance counselor, Ms. Emma Pillsbury, played by actress Jayma Mays.
If you watch Heroes, she played a waitress with preternatural memory, a superpower I wouldn’t mind having… Just think of all the money you could make on game shows, LOL!
Born Jayma Suzette Mays on July 16, 1979, in Grundy, Virginia, she’s kept busy in television and films in mostly small roles since 2004 (Anyone? Paul Blart: Mall Cop? Anyone?).
I like that she doesn’t look like the typical Hollywood bombshell babe and seems like she’d be cool to hang out with, and it’s nice to see that she’s scored a steady gig on Glee.

I picked up a few of the new Tokidoki Prisma Lipglosses ($15 each) yesterday — Sandy (an apple green), Diamante (a blueish pink) and Monkey Pirate (a creamy brown).
What do you think of the detailing in the cap?

Even small deserts are hawt. 🙂 This one’s a light matte brown with a touch of golden glitter, and it goes by the name of Terre D’Or!
Aren’t those rolling sand dunes on top of the pan hawt? Terre D’Or is one of two (Terre Halee is the other one) new limited edition Soleil Tan de Chanel bronzers ($50 each), and if the sandy pattern looks familiar, that’s because the bronzers are already part of the company’s permanent line. The two new LE shades arrive in May as part of Chanel’s summer collection.
I spent quality time with Terre D’Or this week, which is the lighter of the two, and it just might be a little too light to use as a bronzer on my NC35 skin. It does leave behind a lovely whisper of golden glitter on my skin, but very little color comes through, and I’m beginning to think it functions better as a glittery highlighter for ladies with medium to dark skin. Lighter-skinned babes, on the other hand, get a very pretty, traditional bronzer, one for contouring and adding a warm, healthy sun-kissed glow.

I love the artwork on the Tokidoki Chromatico Palette in Bastardio ($25).

Ooh, lawd! Gotta love April Fool’s Day. 🙂 I’m still a little bit on edge out here on the West Coast, though, because we have four hours to go before midnight, and El Hub always tries something tricky…
I’m glad the sun finally came out this afternoon. It showed up while I was conducting a little beauty “research” at Sephora in San Francisco, where I spotted the new Tokidoki line, yay! I also squeezed in a trip to a place called the Blo Bar. I’ll explain and post swatches and all that good stuff soon.
Was it sunny over there? Today was El Hub’s Friday, so we’re going out to grab some dinner. While I get ready, let’s say a final farewell to March.
“When it comes to long-lasting brush-on liquid liners, MAC’s Liquidlast Liners pretty much set the bar for me, combining rich color AND awesome extended wear time. Once I even left a swatch of it on the back of a hand, you know, to see how long it would last? No joke — TWO DAYS!”
“It’s a break from the bold and frosty metallic finishes that have graced past Dior shimmers, but that doesn’t mean it’s a shadow snooze-fest. Dior may have turned down the dial (not all the way though) on the shimmer, but it’s still sure to make those lovely eyes sparkle. :)”
“I’ve been going between Walk of Shame (a creamy bubblegum pink) and Quickie (a salmon pink), wearing both in various ways — on bare skin, beneath foundation, on top of foundation and even on top of powder. No matter how I’ve used ’em, I think they’ve looked pretty good…”
“Can you remember the last time you watched a sunset? I couldn’t, so I watched and waited on the back deck last Saturday afternoon with my camera to refresh my memory.”
“Are you stoked about MAC Liberty of London? I’m all over the Nail Lacquer in Blue India… Here are some pictures in this quickie video of the new collection. Let me know what you think!”
