Quelle Surprise! Estee Lauder Goes for the BOLD with Bronze Goddess Liquid Eyeshadows

March 10th, 2010 by Karen 53 Comments

Heya, bronze (and not-so-bronze) goddesses. 🙂 After several days of near-freezing temps, it’s a balmy 58 degrees here in Northern California today, YES!

Since I know it won’t last, I’m taking advantage of the freak warm weather front with a little summertime makeup.

Put your paws up for warm weather, ladies!

I’m totally J-WoWW-ing over Estee Lauder’s latest extraordinary creations for summer, the Bronze Goddess Liquid Eyeshadows ($17.50, available in four shades). We’re talking crazy intense colors (particularly for EL) here that are eye-catching enough to stop even the most hardened MAC girl in her tracks.

  • UPDATE: Mar. 14, 2010. The giveaway is now closed, and the winner is being contacted. Good luck! 🙂

Sometimes you gotta cherish the little things, ya know? Like the fact that we made it to Wednesday. 🙂 A small feat, yes, but the first part of the week was kinda rough for me (haven’t been getting enough sleep).

I’m glad it isn’t Monday and feel like celebrating! Pour another cup of coffee (whee!), and let’s toast to Wednesday with a MAC giveaway starring one of my favorites from MAC’s Spring Colour Forecast collection.

Congrats to Jackie for winning last week’s MAC Blush Ombre in Ripe Peach!

The prize

One lucky lady will win MAC Blush Ombre in Azalea Blossom (a $25 value), a light pink powder blush with a finish that’s about half way between a shimmer and a matte.

How to enter…

2ways2enterEntering is easy. There are two different ways, and you can do both of them for two chances to win.

First, you can enter by leaving a comment at the bottom of this post. In it, tell me the name of your favorite flower.

Urmf! I can’t decide on just one. How about lilies, azaleas, irises and roses?

Declare Your Independence from Brown and Beige with MAC Give Me Liberty of London

March 9th, 2010 by Karen 60 Comments

In Disney’s made-for-TV The Girl Who Spelled Freedom, a young Cambodian refugee beats all odds to become a national spelling bee champion just four years after arriving in the U.S.

I vividly remember that movie even though it aired in 1986 because of an idea it gave my mom…

Because of that movie, my mom decided to turn me into America’s Next Asian Spelling Bee Champ (LOL!).

Even though she grilled me every night with word lists, the plan still failed because it suffered from one fatal flaw: I can’t spell. 🙂

I never won a spelling bee, but I did become pretty good at busting out of makeup ruts. Case in point: I was stuck in a serious neutral eye makeup phase for about a week until today’s brush with the MAC Give Me Liberty of London collection.

Here are swatches of 13 of the 17 makeup goodies. I’ll post an update with the remaining Beauty Powders, Lipglasses and MAC Lipsticks soon.

New in Beauty, Mar. 9: Chloe’s Perfume Set and Smashbox Brow Tech Trios

March 9th, 2010 by Karen 19 Comments

New in Beauty

  • Got a BFF with a birthday coming? Chloe’s Specialty Set ($110) might be a cute (albeit extravagant) gift
  • Smashbox’s Brow Tech Trio ($24) comes with two shades of brow powder and the wax to set it
  • Also from Smashbox: Precision Concealer Brush #5 ($20), Tapered Shadow Brush #7 ($24) and Face & Cheek Brush #2 ($48)
  • Xen-Tan Absolute Luxe ($56) says their time-release formula will give you the darkest tan you’ve ever had, and it’ll do it in one quick application
  • Trish McEvoy maxed out the makeup in her Irresistible Collection Python Petite Makeup Planner ($95)
  • MAC Liberty of London’s up for grabs online at Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s
  • WANTS IT! Sonia Kashuk’s Black Tools Large Kabuki Brush ($20)
  • Has anyone tried Boots Botanics Lip Gloss ($8) yet?
  • Perricone MD claims their No Foundation Foundation ($50) is the world’s first anti-aging translucent foundation
  • Origins says their Youthtopia SPF 15 Foundation ($26.50) lifts and tightens. Great, because I need both, LOL! 🙂

Rise and shine, morning glories! It’s downright freezing here today, brrr… A layer of shimmery ice is covering everything outside, which means Tabs may have to wait a while to get his walk on.

Hope you have an awesome day today. Let me know what you’re up to.

One down, four to go! 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen
