Ten years ago, I rocked this Tiffany necklace every day (I found it while reorganizing my jewelry the other day).
Anywho, Tabs thinks it would be kindasorta rad if Tiffany made collars like this for kitties. 🙂

That’s all I ask.

Jeez, I swear, sometimes face paint is like chicken soup for my soul.
I was chugging along just fine this afternoon until about 3 p.m., and then…afternoon slump.
I’m not sure why or what happened — it might have something to do with the chilly weather — but I just couldn’t keep my eyes open. All I wanted to do was take a nap, an activity which, by the way, Tabs wholeheartedly approved.
But instead of napping, I made myself another cup of tea and set about trying to do something new for my makeup.
After this face of the day, which I did using holiday fare from the Make Up For Ever Wild & Chic, MAC Glitter and Ice and Clarins Passion collections (with a dash from the NARS permanent line), I actually felt a whole lot better.
Here’s a breakdown of the look, which features a silvery taupe eye, apricot cheeks and reddish brown lips…

Oops! I just misspelled my Google search term. I meant to type “YouTube kittens,” but I accidentally typed “Ryan Gosling abs.”
Don’t you hate it when that happens? 🙂
The Internet can be so distracting. It’s easy to get so busy Googling important things like Ryan’s abs that you miss the really important stuff, like all of the glittery nail polishes appearing this season.
The stuff’s been showing up everywhere! — but after a certain point, it all starts to blend together, like house music at a three-day rave (duh-chuh-duh-chuh-duh-chuh!).
No worries. Eye Candy, the latest collection from China Glaze, can simplify the process of finding a glitter polish that’s both flashy and classy. The six-piece collection was inspired by Marilyn Monroe and utilizes a special variety of glitter called GLITTER (in all caps).
GLITTER is basically exactly like glitter, only sparklier, and because of it these polishes sport so much sparkle that they look like they’re about to explode! But at the same time, they’re bright, light, and to me don’t seem garish.
NOTE: There’s really no such thing as GLITTER. I just made it up.
China Glaze says that the “innovative glitter technology” they cooked up for these creates a “3-D effect.”
That’s marketing-speak for “these polishes are flashy and all up in your grill!” With that said, they might not appeal to ladies on a strict mani/pedi diet of Essie Ballet Slippers.
All six Eye Candy shades showcase glitter in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors in a clear formula. My favorite? — flashy Marry a Millionaire, which sets thin, confetti-like strips in green and teal against a backdrop of purple micro-glitter.
Hot, hot, hot!
I swatched Millionaire and its siblings this afternoon using two layers, and without a base or top coat.

I call Tabs’ white chin his “old man beard.” 🙂

This post is part of a series sponsored by Dove.
’round these parts, the holidays are all about the four F’s — food, fun, friends and family — but there’s a fifth F, a special holiday F, and it’s rarely talked about in polite company.
F-R-E-A-K-I-N-G OUT!
The holidays — gotta love ’em. Don’t get me wrong: I cherish this time of year, but it does place demands on us that can leave us feeling stressed.
I always look forward to the family get-togethers. For the most part, everyone gets along, but every family has its moments. Having so many people with so much history all under the same roof can start to feel like a pressure cooker, and if someone ends up crying, it’s usually me.
I’ve sobbed before, during and after many family feasts. Ah, the joys of being an overly sensitive soul…
There’s always a silver lining, though, even to tears. Now, I have a pretty decent arsenal of tips and tricks to deal with puffy eyes, and most of them can be done for little to no money using products you may already have around the house. 🙂
Ah, the time-honored cold compress… Simple, effective and soothing, and one of my favorite fast ways to reduce swelling around the eyes.
I wet a washcloth or a small towel, wring it out, and place it in the fridge or freezer for 10 minutes to get it nice and cold. Then, I close my eyes, place the cloth across my lids, and chill out somewhere comfy for a while. The cool compress constricts the blood vessels in the area to diminish the puffiness right away (within a few minutes).

I picked up this trick from my granny, one of the most stylish ladies at senior bingo night, and a pre-World War II beauty pageant queen. Chill four teaspoons in the fridge (I feel that the freezer makes the spoons too cold); when they’re nice and cold, remove two of them, and place them curved side down on your eyes. When the spoons don’t feel cold anymore, put those two back in the fridge, and replace them with the second pair. Repeat until you’re de-puffed!
El Hub once told me that if he ever becomes a rap megastar, as unlikely as that is, he would like to be called “Old Dirty Tea Bag,” but I digress…
Black tea bags (with caffeine) contain tannins which can be helpful for puffy eyes, while the caffeine constricts dilated capillaries to whisk the puff away. I usually squeeze most of the liquid from the bags so that it doesn’t drip down my neck, and then I chill them in the fridge, and place one on each eye.
Sometimes I also use herbal tea bags (without caffeine), and I think they also work pretty well.

QUESTION: When are two widgets better than one?

ANSWER: Always, when you’re a gal who likes options, and the widgets are the liners at both ends of each new limited edition Bobbi Brown Dual Ended Eye Liner.
I’m one of those gals. I keep multiple pairs of shoes in the back seat of my car for emergencies — emergencies like when I change my mind about my footwear on the way to wherever I’m going — and I’m the same way with makeup, because you never know when the need to wear gold eyeliner will strike!
“With Bobbi’s Dual Ended Eye Liner, one side brightens, while the other side defines for long-wearing that doesn’t fade. A unique combination of soft waxes and oils, plus a high concentration of pigments, provides silky-smooth application and dense, even color.”
This season, thanks to these three new $24 pencil duos, which are available now on Bobbi Brown counters and also online, I’ll be all set. Available in three combinations — Chocolate & Bronze, Jet & Chrome and Caviar & Gold — one side has a neutral shade to help you play it safe at the office, and the other side has a shimmery shade for parties after work…
…or for running away from zombies!
Because you never know, right?

Yep, I’m hooked on The Walking Dead
The two duos I’ve been wearing this week, Jet & Chrome and Chocolate & Bronze, feel like butter and look like ink. They’re super smooth and pigmented, gliding on like Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils, while depositing pigments so intense that they remind me of Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Eyes Liners.

I was having breakfast with my friend Marisol this morning when she whipped out this vintage Chanel Coromandels de Chanel palette (fall 2005!). I kid you not, I nearly choked on my Nutella croissant. Even with most of the original design worn off it’s still beautiful.
The CHANEL Fall Collection was inspired by the rich materials, flamboyant colours and decorative style of the Far East. The CHANEL face is wearing new COROMANDELS DE CHANEL on eyes and cheeks, and Shanghai Red Creme Lipstick.
